Real Loves: Mary

"The real hail Mary. Hail Mary! ..." or so her fans would say, she's a somewhat influential music artist in the Real Love story, and here is a quick portrait of her staring off in the early morning sun.

This character continued to evolve and finally! FINALLY!! I'll be revealing her full design if I haven't already. Here's a better look and...

Slightly more complete look. And this taught me A LOT! Like a lot, A LOT! But one of those things being, clothes are important and I need to focus on designing them better and more accurately. And once I completed this, I was more excited to begin the next model than I was to texture and complete this one; that is something I wouldn't recommend and won't do anymore. It's usually more valuable in all ways to finish a piece (project) before moving onto the next. But yeah, you'll be seeing her a...

Let's mix it up a bit

This was my second and much better attempt, where I tried sculpting the character, I wasn't completely happy with the first try so I made some slight adjustments and was way happier with the result. And honestly, now I'm still pretty happy with the results on this sculpt and I learned a lot from it about the software (blender). I also learned what I don't want my characters to look like, this one looks great to me but not what I want to go for with my designs or maybe I do. You'll see...

Here is the second set.

The same thing with this attempt as the last, is that there was an animated section in-between the previous batch and this batch, only difference is that I actually did complete the animation, so I will share that later on! But in all honesty, art quality wise I still like these and I had a lot of fun with this simplistic style. And I think you'll definitely see how these designs have greatly influenced the evolution of the project.

Or is it what? The end of the comics? No! I got you huh? You thought I'd learn my lesson after the first attempt (technically the second)... wrong, I continued some time later with a third attempt, this time I had a specific goal in mind. An interactive comic where you could choose what happened next! And it seemed like a great idea at the time. Was a lot of fun too, and I learned a lot along the way (seeing a pattern here?).

I'd written a little ahead, but at this point I'd realized that I'd diverted greatly from what this story was meant to be about. And honestly, that's why now we have White Lies the game and Real Love so that the story can have it's focus untainted... but, let's leave that for the future. For now, let's continue the journey! And let me know what you think!

More of this young lady...

And one of my personal favourite renditions in the second sketch. The character and the piece itself has great energy in my opinion, but you let me know yours! A little more info on who she might be, but she's from Mongolia, or her parents are at least, she's an older sister and she super interested in all things supernatural / spiritual.

Now let's not only look at what's wrong...

There is some good character back and forth, and the story is capturing their dynamic as a group, even though very briefly. While looking back on this, I'm honestly just getting more and more excited to start revealing and eventually sharing the final product with you!

I'm enjoying this LFT journey, what do you think? And what are you getting from it?

And who's this?

This is Rosa's friend, they go to university together, they compete in the same athletics club and they share a few interests. But who is she separate of Rosa? We'll have to wait and see.
