JAN 2021 *Special* Printable! 🎊

Hello sweet harvesters! I couldn't think of a better printable to make for you in the new year than a Daruma, also known as a Japanese wishing doll. Traditionally, these come in the form of a red and gold doll (I've remixed them a bit to fit our aesthetic a little more) and are meant to be a sort of goal-tracker. Here's how to use your Daruma printable:

1. Print out your daruma any size you'd like. Right now they are formatted on an 8.5 x 11 (printer paper size) canvas,...

January 🎊2021🎊 Monthly Newsletter!

(Pssst hey, it's the inside-your-head tinier version of Jamie here, just reminding my Sapling and Harvest patrons that content from now on will be released intermittently throughout the month, rather than all at once on the first day. So if it seems like less stuff was released than normal, you're right! But not to fear, you will still get everything like usual--and more--just spread throughout J...

Another Procreate Timelapse! β˜„οΈβœ¨

Hey you, how's it going? Just throwing a procreate timelapse out for you if you'd like to watch. This one is a Christmas gift for my partner. So far my only procreate timelapse videos on here are of Colin...I think I need to put some more up soon to diversify the content a bit. Regardless, please enjoy! The brushes I used are 6B pencil, dry ink, Stucco paint and a halftone effect.

The song is Garde Le Pour Toi by Paradis.

Changes Coming in 2021! β™‘

I have been thinking a lot about some of the structural changes I want to implement here in our little community and I've finally decided on how I want to move forward. Feel free to ask me to elaborate on anything that was mentioned in this video! I can't wait to make this an even better space to be.

Much love,

Winter Menu Printable

Hello sweet harvesters. December has been treating me well so far and I hope it's done the same for you. As I said last month, I wanted to make a menu printable for you! My wishes is that you'll be able to use this at your next festive winter food occasion. As always, the file is attached below.

DEC. β‹†β˜Ύ~Secret~β˜½β‹† Sketches

My wonderful traveling friends--welcome back to another round of secret sketches. I've got quite a lot this month for you, seeing as I had more time to sketchbook and some select sketches to share from one of my current freelance projects (The Anne of Green Gables picture book).

I have just recently bought the largest sketchbook that I have used in years. I believe it is 8 x 10 in., and I usually do not exceed 5 x 7. It feels incredible to not have to restrict my ...

December HARVEST COMPENDIUM Printable

Hello harvesters! Please enjoy this special yule-y themed harvest compendium page. This creature was based on a conversation I had with someone about how trees do not necessarily make sound unless acted upon. I thought a lot about what if trees had voices this whole time, but us humans were mistaking it for the wind in the leaves or creaking of branches? Thus the Singing Yew was born!

As always the printable is attached for you to download below. Happy December everyone. Sendin...

December Monthly Newsletter πŸ§ΆπŸŒ²β˜ƒοΈ

December, to me, is absolutely one of the best months. I may be biased seeing as my birthday is December 3rd, but I just think it a time of unadulterated festivity and coziness. I hope that you have plans to do something 2020-12-01 05:00:03 +0000 UTC View Post

December Step-by-Step

Hello my friends, this longer-than-usual step-by-step features information on how I compose images and design/stylize human characters--both requests by you guys! First I explain previous pieces and talk you through what was going through my head when making them, and then in the later half of the video I show you in live-time how I do it. I really hope you enjoy--this was tricky for me to explain (it's amazing how hard it is to articulate the information) but I hope it makes sense. If there'...

Dec Campfire Conversation Podcast

Welcome to the campfire. Have a seat on your favorite log if you didn't bring your own compact camp chair. It's so exciting to finally have a name for this thing, isn't it? Today we'll be talking about art style, specifically how I "found" mine, being present, an unexpected self care habit, and friendships/relationships that "burn like a piece of paper".

I'm so glad you're here. As always I would love to hear your thoughts, questions and opinions. Here's to a wonderful December!

🌲 Looking Ahead to December...

Hello, you. I hope you're having a fine end of the weekend! Since I wanted next month's content to be highly driven by the voice of our little community here, I thought I would update you on what's to come!

Sapling and Harvest patrons said they would like to see a step-by-step on how I stylize characters and organize compositions, so I'll be doing a video demo of that.

But they also said they would like to see how I pick and use colors, so l...

Printable Name Cards 🍽️

Warm Greetings :-) You voted and I hear you--you want both the name cards and the menu printables. Can do, boss! Here are the name cards for you to print off. As always, make as many as you like depending on how many guests you have. I don't think the assembly requires much explaining but there is a tiny blurb to help you out on the printable itself. And of course I have attached the file for you to download as an attachment (below). Let me know if you have any questions at all!

Anne of Green Gables sketch

Hey friends, hope the first week of November has been treating you warmly thus far. I wanted to share with you a couple crops of sketches for a couple of the pages in the Anne of Green Gables picture book. The publisher provided me with a specific description of what should be shown in each scene (this is sooo helpful and saves me a lot of time!)

For example, for the first illustration shown they said: Full Page Art # 3 of 8: The scene is outside a...

November Newsletter(?) Podcast

The question mark's presence in this title will perhaps become obvious once you listen to a bit of the podcast. Less of a "newsletter" and more of catching up, this is just a chit chat (albeit a manic one) about some thoughts swirling around in my head.

As always, I hope this gives you something to listen to, I hope this keeps you some company and I hope it feels like catching up with an old, foolish friend.

So much love to you, and I'd love to hear your thoughts!!

NOV. β‹†β˜Ύ~Secret~β˜½β‹† Sketches

Hello, hello. Into November we go, but let's reflect on October's sketches first. This was the first month in some time that I have felt somewhat disconnected from my sketchbook, and traditional media as a whole. Because I have been working almost nonstop of freelance work (all digital), it's hard to find the energy to draw when that's what I have been doing all damn day! My ipad + procreate is great because it's compact, mobile and has every tool and color I could n...

Just A Small Shout

Hello, traveler. Whenever I have a nice thought about my patrons and want to speak it out into the universe, I go to do it but hesitate because I feel like I should have a cute visual prepared. Sometimes I worry that just a text post is not enough (does that make sense?).

But I am a firm believer in "when you have a kind thing to say about someone, say it, because they might need to hear it today", so I am here with a humble text post to say that you guys are on my mind. ...

Procreate Timelapse Video!

Hey you, happy mid-October! This month is, luckily, going by a little slower than September did (for me at least--how about you?) Today is a friend of mine's birthday. I made this piece for him a week ago in procreate and thought I would just slap a time-lapse video up here to show you how I work. This leads me to a point about November's content...this month the Sapling and Harvest tiers will be getting a digital step-by-step video! I'll be setting up the camera above me and my ipad and talk...

October Objects Garland Printable

This was so exciting for me to work on: our first printable garland! The are instructions on how to cut and construct it on the actual printable, but if anything is unclear please feel free to comment and I will help you out :-) I have yet to test it out myself, but I will eventually! Print out as many as you would like for extremely long garland strings. If you end up using it and hanging it, please take a photo, post it and tag me so I can see!!

October Newsletter Podcast!

For your listening pleasure, in case you don't care to read very much, or just wanted some bonus content! It's a very casual chat, covering some cool poetic song lyrics that really got me jazzed, information on being new to an illustration agency, "cuffing season", various random bits I threw in at the end, and some shout-outs. Put it on in the background while you're doing something else, to keep you company :-D

Happy October my friends! Let me know what you're up to.&nbs...

October Newsletter πŸ¦‡ πŸŽƒπŸŒœ

Welcome back, traveler.

So...was it just me or did September feel like it vanished in an instant? I blinked, and suddenly I'm here writing my second-ever monthly newsletter, feeling as though I just wrote my first one. Time moving this quickly can be either good or bad, depending on your life's circumstances, don't you think? If I'm honest, I needed this...

OCT. β‹†β˜Ύ~Secret~β˜½β‹† Sketches

Hello all! You might notice I have done things a bit differently this month. Instead of doing a text entry with images spliced in throughout, I wanted to make an image gallery. A patron pointed out that it was difficult for them to see the previous month's secret sketches and had to download the images in order to view them larger--thank you for your input! Hopefully this is a bit easier to view and navigate. If you click on the images, a caption will pop up for each one that gives a brief de...

Mid(-ish) September "Podcast"

Hey whoa! This wasn't in my tier description! That's right, you're getting even more than you bargained for! Since there was such positive feedback for my previous very short audio post (thank you), I decided to make mini podcasts a regular thing here.

The intention is to get some things out of my brain and into my mouth via words and sounds. I feel like the monthly newsletter will be less cluttered that way. Rest assured, I will still be doing a monthly newsletter (though the con...

β‹†β˜Ύ~Secret~β˜½β‹† Sketches

I love to share most things that I draw publicly, especially doodles from my day to day. But there's just some things that slip through the cracks, and I've compiled some to show you today!

Let me preface by saying that these pages will often include personal writing as well. There is a line that I draw (figuratively) and there are some pages that include things just far too personal to share, so those will remain in closed books for my eyes only. However, I want this to be a spac...

OTGW Traditional Commission Process

Wow, I have to admit I'm a little nervous. I share process work on my instagram story often, but have never outlined it in the detail I will be delving into here. I will be covering the process on this piece:
