Vore Tournament 2.0.1

It's been exactly two years since Vore Tournament 2.0.0 has been released, as a reboot of the now defunct 0.7.0 branch. During this time roughly 10 new features, 10 gameplay changes, 15 bug fixes, and many smaller modifications have been added to the Git repository. As of this month they're available to the community, with the second release of the project Vore Tournament 2.0.1. You can find the list of modifications in the CHANGES.md file, here are the most important highlights since the pre...

Final preparations underway

I've been undergoing the final preparations for Vore Tournament 2.0.1 and managed to cram a few more goodies in. Did a little more work on the bots, including the ability to recognize each other as pred / prey based on bot skills rather than just momentary in-game experiences (layered on top of the relationship system). Speaking of bots, I also added a simple set of predefined characters with different traits and personalities... no more "Anthro Female Fox" and that kind of thing, though the ...

Updated city tilesets for OHRRPGCE

I created a new version of the city tilesets for OHRRPGCE, adding new tiles and fixing other issues. The updated versions have been sitting on my drive for a while, and I finally decided to post them online today. The backgrounds and palettes are the same, but you'll need to download and import the tiles again. You can find the updated versions on their OpenGameArt page:

Vore Tournament 2.0.1 scheduled for this July

A lot of work has gone into the Vore Tournament project during the past months. From implementing fun new features to fixing many essential bugs, the latest development version is the most stable and refined version of the game as of yet. I decided the project has reached the maturity needed for its second release. Below I will share the release plan and what I would like to do next before finally publishing the update:

  • I'm aiming to release the next Vore Tournament version next m...

Purple

We are halfway through pride month: The month in which those who had to endure the hatred of others for being different celebrate our reasons to be proud. And yet, each color often holds reasons to be un-proud of, especially when it comes to how they relate to colors different from their own. Many never see it... others do but choose to convince themselves that doing to others what was once done to them couldn't possibly be the same thing. The persecuted join their former persecutioners and e...

Slideshow Player: Magnifier glass

I've wanted to implement some form of zooming for a while. Initially I planned to go for automated scrolling as the image transitions, but that comes with its own complications in the given setup. I thus decided to implement something simpler and more interactive: A magnifier glass to zoom in on parts of images.

To use it, simply position and drag the cursor over the active image: The background will darken and you'll see a little circle with the zoomed in version of its content. To rem...

Update to my Patreon goals

A heads up to all my patrons: Considering the average patronage I've had for the past few months, I decided to bump my ongoing goals by -200$ to bring them at more realistic values. This means that source files for artwork will be released while over 200$, whereas early demos for small games (not already available on Git repositories) will be released at 400$. Previously those goals were 400$ and 600$ respectively.

This month I'll also be posting a few previews of what I've done on the ...

Vore Tournament - Bot Relations

This is one of the most exciting new features implemented in Vore Tournament and something I've wanted for a while. Bots can now develop relationships with players as the match goes on, which affect who they decide to target and for what reason. You can think of it as a bot learning system, in which the bot observes who is typically a pred or a prey. Players are notified when a bot begins targeting them as either a favorite predator or prey.

How it works: The more time you spend inside ...

Vore Tournament - Willing Prey Update

One of the new additions to Vore Tournament is the concept of willing prey. You could already use the F key to feed yourself to another player, opposite of using the E key to eat them... however this did not have any other meaning. Willing prey is now registered as such, which affects a few game mechanics. You can mark yourself as willing either by feeding yourself to a player, or by pressing the feed key while in their stomach... eating them or pressing the E key will oppositely make you unw...

Slideshow Player: SoFurry support and mixed searches

I've still been putting a lot of work into the Slideshow Player, bringing many new and important changes to the latest version. Here are some of the latest highlights:

The most important addition is support for SoFurry as an image source. I've had its script half-finished for a long time, but the site's API never worked quite well with it at that stage. The latest setup allowed for flawless integration, making it the 4th art website to be supported by the player.

Another key chang...

Creek of Bunny

It's that time of the year again in Romania: The night when at 12:00 AM we march to the nearest church to light a candle, using the flame of the totally-lit-by-god-and-not-some-priest-with-a-lighter-hidden-in-his-underwear fire, only to extinguish it against the top of our door frame upon returning home (hopefully without setting the house on fire). For those of us less interested in the human gods, who are boring and strict and also very prudish, it's a time to worship beautiful bunny goddes...

Slideshow Player: New media bar design

I went wild with the Slideshow Player the past couple of days. Last night I managed to fix the last bugs I could find, meaning you should be able to abuse the interface by clicking anything in any order at any speed. Remember though that I only test the player on Firefox and Chromium (the open-source version of Google Chrome) thus can't guarantee it works flawlessly in other web browsers as well.

On top of that however, I also managed to redesign the media bar to look exactly as I alway...

Updates: Easter render, Slideshow Player, Vore Tournament

The image for this Easter has just finished rendering. Since the Romanian Easter falls on 28 April, expect it in a few days from now.

The Slideshow Player received a much needed modification: Previously, all settings were persisted in a browser cookie, so whenever you opened the page it reverted to the last used settings. This was very inflexible, as well as privacy unfriendly considering some cookie tracking concerns; Settings are now stored in URL parameters embedded into the hash, me...

April status update

To start off, I'm feeling a little better for the time being... at least slightly better than when I wrote my last journal. I don't know for how long it will last, given the situation here in Europe is developing rapidly and unpredictably by the day, and the overall fate of the free world and open internet is unknown at the moment.

This is the first point I wanted to start the update off with; The frank truth is that, the current world situation has gotten me into a crippling depression...

Point of no return 6.66

Given the whole AI hype going around, I've recently began experimenting with my own Artificial Intelligence software. Since I wanted to get started with something easy, I decided to code an image and text translation algorithm using Machine Learning. Since it seemed most fitting, I figured I'd test it with part 6 of the Point Of No Return series, considering it contains both English and Romanian text for multi-language testing. The original submission can be found here:

In financial trouble once more

I may be running into quite a bit of financial trouble next month. Due to reasons I'd prefer to keep private and which are partly due to my own failures, I'm now down to only 200$ per month. Things were already bad when I was at 300$, now I'm not sure how I will manage. It's fair to mention that I may be getting another source of income in the future, but what and when will happen in this regard is uncertain at the moment.

During the course of this month, I'm showing one of the projects...

Slideshow Player: Recommended tags

Last week I added another feature I really wanted the slideshow player to have: A smart keyword recommendation system. It works by analyzing the tags on the active image or song: The more you keep an element active (by pausing or going back to it), the more the system will assume it's something you like... oppositely the faster you switch away from an item, the less its tags get rated. The tags commonly found on submissions you've looked at the most will then appear at the top: You can click ...

Introduction to Structures for Minetest

During the course of next month (March 2019) I'm going to present another project I've been working on. This is one of the fewer things I've been putting effort into which aren't furry or vore related. Fear not: Those projects are continuing as well, and there should be updates to show on them starting next April!

A brief summary of what I'll be presenting: Structures is a mod for the Minetest engine, currently running on top of its default game (Minetest Game) though intended to be par...

I've implemented pagination support for all image and music sources. Plugins can now make multiple requests to receive additional pages, whereas previously there was only one request and you...

Slideshow Player: Quality filter and realtime settings

I made several major improvements to the slideshow player last week. The most significant change is the ability to filter submissions based on quality for both artwork and music; The player will now pick posts with the highest rating within the count specified by the user. Note that this relies on the rating reported by the API of each site, which some sources (such as Inkbunny) don't support: Submissions without a score will default to 0 and end up at the bottom of the list.

Ancient preview 2

Another super old camera tracking project I didn't yet get around to finishing. I filmed it on top of the water heating plant parallel to my house in Ploiesti, which I used to sneak on top of back when we still went there during holidays. The environmental additions are done, with sound and the characters being the only thing left to add.

CGI elements include the tunnel emerging from the wall, the little blue lights, the crumpled door, the barrels, the trash can, and the fire. Everythin...

Ancient preview 1

As this month has been rather slow, I figured I'd share a test render from one of the projects I've had laying around for literally 5 years now. This is a highly unfinished camera track which (as all my projects) I hope to get back to someday soon.

The black car is CGI. That includes its lighting cast over the ground, which was also done in Blender using a complex shader setup.

January status update

My god the time has passed; I wanted to post a status update right after the new year, but found myself getting around to it halfway through the month. It's so late to say happy new year but I guess it will have to do.

I should first apologize for the lack of activity this month and potentially the next one. I'm still working on stuff but right now it hasn't been easy to spend time on posting updates as well. I'm aware some of you might have gotten tired of hearing this excuse, but at t...

First of all, Merry Christmas everyone! On this day I shall share my animation for year 2018. This time I decided to do something a little different :)

It was rendered at 1080p @ 60 FPS under Blender 2.79b / Cycles. It marks my first experiment with looped animation segments which is a technique I plan to use in future projects.

I'm still a bit of a male tsundere with this vixen, don't take my supposed cries for help too seriously. Also I challenge you to find the artist and submission who inspired me to come up wit...
