A Ranking of all things HoGW
Like the title says, this is a definitive ranking of all things HoGW complete with little notes that remind me of what does what. Some of this has yet to appear in-story but will become common knowledge circa end of trials.

- Arcane Baptism
- Energy Gathering

Hello guys, I need your help!
It is a big deal to me but it will literally only take you about twenty seconds. As you all know, I am putting HoGW BK II: Nestling out. Problem is, Nestling is book two. No one is going to read book two when they have not even heard of book one.
Here's where you come in. We need to promote Hatchling, the first book ...

Chapter Twenty-eight: Soldo's Five
Ahwontara coincidentally took his eyes of one those very spies, a lady with the distinct posture of a soldier and leaned back into his seat. "This is the true reason why you came to me, isn't it?"
Harper nodded.
His friend sighed. "Few know the answers you seek and I'm not surprised that none will talk to you. In many ways, Lady Bloodworth is a national treasure whilst you are a foreigner and a Magocrat at that, no offence. Look, I ...

Chapter Twenty-seven: On the Fourth Day...
The fourth day of the trials was noticeably more subdued than the third. That is not to say that people were not excited but rather a recognition of the moody cloud that hung over the proceedings. Those only now catching up were acutely aware of it. As for the challengers, many bore grim faces, others looked angry.
"Look there's Celeste! I heard she wasn't going to come but the fact that her girlfriend was injured must ...

Chapter Forty-eight: Elemental Sigils
They stood in rank and file, every single warrior of the faery enclave. Thorn stood at their head with Nettle at his side. The old warrior looked like someone had breathed life back into his shell. His missing limb was easily overlooked because all who saw him found themselves focusing on the wing of silver and light that hung beside his natural born one. For his part, the old hand bore the gazes well. There was a look of pride ...

Chapter Forty-seven: War Party
Geoffrey fidgetted in his seat, his foot tapping rapidly against the ground. Being overactive, he hated waiting especially when he had nothing to occupy his time while doing so. Across from him was a dour-looking muscleman in a wicker chair. In addition to the dwarf at his side, he was being fussed on by a ranger, his cousin -- if their story was to be believed, personally, he doubted that. Mr. muscle had his torso wrapped tightly in bandages ...

Chapter Forty-six: World God
This world had power. That much was clear to Brandr. There was a clear, systematic scale and path of power via its ranks. There were also creatures like Thorn and himself, proving that the path of blood was viable in Tignar. Thanks to talks with his sprites, Brandr knew that there were Gods around. So that was another path checked. However, cultivation, as he knew it, was nonexistent. The ethos, principles and corroboration with the heavenly dao...

Chapter Forty-five: Five Paths to Power
Brandr, until recently was a daolord, a paragon to cultivators across the cosmos. As a matter of fact, he held hopes of eventually restoring himself to that esteemed peak. thus, he was understandably upset by the discovery that he was unable to practice the tenets of his craft. He had the power or at least, dregs of it. He still possessed his daos and he retained his sensibilities... mostly and yet he could not cultivate. Why? Granted...

Chapter Forty-four: Cultivation
Brandr carefully watched over the changes in his dungeon and its creatures. But for a few small indicators, one would not know that a posse of adventurers had stomped through his halls. The autonomic systems of the dungeon did a good job cleaning and repairing his domain. Foreign materials were absorbed and broken down, same with the carcasses and untaken loot. With the bodies of his creatures automatically breaking down to reveal the loot in...

Gauwyn placed his foot on the chest of a slain ogre as he cleaned the blade of his battleaxe. more lay strewn over the rocks around him. They put up a good fight but like most of Gauwyn's enemies, they ultimately fell to his battleaxe. Done with equipment maintenance, he took a humming communication stone from a pouch on his belt and answered it.

Chapter Forty-two: Calamity Strikes
The barrier had fallen allowing the blightwasps in. Sarah struggled valiantly to get it back up but all she succeeded in doing was trapping them inside the barrier with them. Sieg yelled a warning but it was too late. Everything was going wrong and Coenbert could not stop it.
Not for the first time, he cursed his lack of offensive skills. He stood, immune to the wasps' stings, and watched the people he had come to care for die...

Chapter Twenty-six: Army Killer
To say Valerian was surprised when he got to the Arena on the third day would be an understatement. The place was packed. Compared to the days before, when at least three out of every five seats were empty, today had very few empty seats. He was not the only one. The others watched gobsmacked at the multitudes that fought and cajoled to get to their seats, some with snacks, a few clutching tickets and Aarons Eye pamphlets.
“Fuck...

She attacked, lunging so fast that he barely caught it. He spun on his right heel, expecting her to go past but she simply transitioned into a smooth side swing that threatened to bifurcate him. Valerian met that slash with the shaft of his spear, guarding hastily whilst attempting to make space. The two weapons met with a slight clang. Meeting some unexpected resistance, Valerian pushed at the spear shaft with left palm hoping to overpower ...

Chapter Forty-one: The First Trial
They moved with quick, unhurried movements, cautious yet hasty. The goal was to make sure the fight did not get drawn out. Sieg, their only remaining ranger, and Coenbert led the party sweeping the immediate entrance for traps and enemies. The two warriors came in next followed closely by the dwarves. Bringing up the rear were the healer and mage. The boss chamber opened up in front of them.
Despite the entrance, the insides adopted ...

Chapter Twenty-four: Unexpected Aid
Valerian swung his spear, cutting down a swathe of illusionary opponents. The incessant beating of his own wings reminded him of just how much more effort it took for him to change positions than he was used to. He snarled and focused on the shadowy enemies he had conjured. They had no distinguishing features or even faces for that matter. They did not need them. What they did have was a faint aura of malice and a murderous intent that ma...

DC/RH BK I, CH 40: Fine Work
Coenbert sat with his back to the cave wall taking this break to sort through the turbulent thoughts tearing through his mind. They had walked through kilometres of tunnels and vast expanses of grassland battling all sorts of vermin. Not the scattered goblins he remembered but woodland critters with their size and ag...

At least half of it came back out as a result of the man's gurgling but it was the only thing he could think to do. Keeping his chest elevated, he tried feeding him more antidote. The adventurer stared into his eyes, with wide, panicked ones of his own. no one had seen what happened. One moment, they were all picking herbs and the next he was fallin...

Chapter Twenty-two: A Stand
The second day of the trials did not have as great a start as the first. Many of the fights of the previous day had not been as exciting as the spectators had hoped. For those who had come hoping to see the folk who had allegedly challenged the entire school beaten into the ground were disappointed. They took consolation in the fact that cream of the first and second years had yet to make a move. Thus those who came early on the second day were more subdu...

Only one day in and already a missed post. Couldn't help it. I flood the house last night. You read that right. I flooded my home with enough water to ensure that three rooms and a hallway were covered in centimetres of water all because I left a bathroom tap open. How the hell do these things happen to me? My brother and I spent hours fetching and moping up water. Getting everything nice and dry will be a whole different task altogether.

Chapter Thirty-seven: The Hunting Grounds
Being invaded was a complex feeling that was hard to explain. Unlike the sprites, Brandr did not need the viewing screens to see what was happening. When concentrating, he could feel the heat of their bodies, how they obstructed the flow of air and even the tiny wisps of essence that escaped their ...
