We're doing well and so stoked to be back in the Pacific!!! We were just sitting on the beach on a little island called Isle Gomez (https://svdelos.com/sailing-travel-blog/wheres-delos) and thought of you all, so decided to film this little real-time update to let you know what we've been up so. Sending much love and thanks for the support! XXOO Brian, Karin, Baby Nuggs, and Jordan!...

Hola Patrons! After a successful transit of the Panama Canal, we are officially back in the Pacific Ocean for the first time in 8 years! We spent a few days in the marina in Panama City doing some provisioning and getting some work done, and today we have untied the lines and are kicking off our journey up the pacific coast of Central America. We will make our way towards Coiba Island which is home to some world class scuba diving and surfing, and Brian also picked up some new fishing gear he...

Hola Delos Tribe!!! If you're reading this a day early then it means we got our Panama Canal Transit time and are busily prepping for the transit. Right now we're scheduled to go through tomorrow afternoon (Friday, March 25th) so we worked extra hard this week to get the video out in time :) If the stars align and we can manage it we'll really try to do some live updates as we move from the Atlantic and back into the Pacific. Hope you all are having a fantastic weekend and e...

We make it to the paradise of San Blas, Panama and promptly consider never leaving! Our first stop in this incredible spot is Cayos Chichime, where we immediately head into the beach to stretch our legs. We find swaying palm trees, golden colored beaches, and gin-clear water. The locals are super friendly and I buy a gigantic lobster to celebrate our anniversary dinner! On the outer reef a gigantic wreck looms, which begs to be explored. It's the San Blas Ferry, ...

Just in case you were wondering this is the actual invoice for Delos to go through the Panama Canal. Is it more or less than you expected to take a shortcut between two continents?
We're getting ready and preparations are going well. Sending lot's of hugs to you all and thanks for your support! XXOO Brian, Karin, and Baby Nuggs

In this episode we explore the nature of seasickness, and with the sea-state resembling a washing machine we have our task cut out for us. With 200 NM ahead of us we set sail at night to make our passage to the San Blas Islands. Instead of a sailing family we become a puking family and struggle to safely navigate Delos, while taking care of a sick baby, all while we feel like we're going to toss our cookies ourselves! In the end we pull it together and make landfall at sunri...

We're off the dock and back cruising!!!! Months of planning and preparation are complete and we're off the dock and cruising again! Topped up with veggies and fruit we immediately depart Bocas Del Toro for the San Blas Islands. En-route we end up in BlueField Lagoon, a little known but very calm and peaceful lagoon in the middle of no where. We're immediately swarmed by Cayucos who are excited and surprised to see us. They sell us lobster, and ask for pencils and books...

The race to get off the dock heats up! In this episode we decide the dock is cool, but being at anchor is even cooler :) We tackle the last of our project list which includes cleaning Delos’s bottom which has turned into an artificial reef of sorts. I’ve never seen anything like this! The soft growth is at least 8 inches long in places and it takes a few hours of hard work to clean her up. We head into town for a quick provisioning mission and I fix a last mi...

After hearing a rumor of a bat cave running deep under the island we decide to seek it out. We spend the afternoon searching by dinghy and finally run across a man living on the edge of the jungle with his family. It just so happens that the cave is on his families land and he's willing to guide us! He leads us through a narrow, winding jungle river followed by a muddy walk through the jungle where we find the entrance to the cave. We put on our cave gear (swim suits and hea...

MorMor arrives fresh off the plane from Sweden! We visit a friend's off-grid over-water house complete with resident nurse shark population for amazing snorkeling, and I replace some of the crusty old lines on Delos with fresh and snazzy new ones.
After MorMor (Karin's mom) arrives from Sweden we decide to set out on an adventure into the mangroves. As we come around the corner I spot a house and head in to take a closer look. It turns out that it actually belon...

After our trip to Sweden Delos gives us quite the welcome home :). In this episode we nearly sink Delos with fresh water, the damn toilet gets blocked and sprays poop everywhere, the cheaply built grey water pump gear shears off, the fresh water pump quits, and the new pump is too high pressure and ends up blowing the faucet off the sink. Oh yeah, and Sierra gets peed on by a monkey. Such is boat life! At least we're in a beautiful place and able to keep our spirits high wit...

Over the past 18 months we've sailed 7,000 NM and visited 7 different countries! Now the task at hand is to prepare Delos for long term storage in the Panamanian jungle before we fly to Sweden to visit family. There are many things to be done including folding sails, vacuum bagging clothes and food, and of course servicing the mechanical components and water maker to make sure everything functions when we return. In between preparations we take a few moments to enjoy our bea...

We anchor Maggie and swim ashore to explore this incredible island that reminds us of something out of Jurassic Park. On the way home we make a detour at the beach where we come across o...

What if the worst nightmare suddenly became a reality? How would you react if you were boarded? It's day 5 at sea and we're approaching a critical point in our passage. Our mission thus far is to make as much progress to the East as possible. There are two reasons for this. 1) It puts us further away from the Nicaragua coast and the piracy problems that have plagued these waters. 2) Improves our angle to the wind and comfort level once we turn South towards...
