'Scenery' won the poll for the theme selection so I decided to delve back into the subtle charms of Kansas landscapes for my latest Pixelminis series. Since the first Native grasslands series I made a couple years ago, I've taken hundreds of photos on my country outings and have ample inspiration. I think it's important to connect your art to your immediate surroundings. It feels good to connect...

Euphoria Tower
Up up he went, through lofty chambers and grand stairways, only to find nothing at the top.
Music also done by me. Title of the track is 'Team Up With Drugs'.
As for my music process, I use Logic Pro X, and a mini 25 key usb keyboard. I never use stock loops or samples, everything is custom made out of software instruments. I occasionally use auto drummers, but always modify the regions in some way to make it my own. Usually I bang out simple beats and melo...
Okay, still WIP but very close to completing the upgrades evolution. The first image shows everything at level 0, before your canon and lasers are even installed. I'm going to strip down even more details, like the striping, and incorporate them into some of the upgrades.
The second image shows everything at LV 10, out of 40. Things evolve much more beyond that, but I'll save that for your pleasure when you can actually play the game. Just a tease!
Cruisin' along with ice cream dreams.
It's been a long time since I've done a pixel_dailies. The theme 'IceCreamVan' sounded light hearted and that's just what I need at the moment. I always put so much pressure to evolve and grow my art that I get a bit lost sometimes. The casual unscripted piece seems to always help me realign with the style that made me fall in love with pixel art in the first place. Hope I can do more of these little side pieces :)
Smartly dressed and putting out the vibes. At last, I present the full cast of Runway Kids. I think I ended up with a nice spectrum of personalties and individual styles. Hard to pick a fave.
I stepped a bit outside my usual subject matter with this series, but that was the point. Character design is always a challenge for me, but surprisingly fun. I really enjoyed designing the characters and coming up with the backstories. Every character reflects a piece of someone I met in life, m...
Greetings! School is back in session in the US, and fall is right around the corner. Even though I've been out of school for many years, I get a heightened sense of motivation around this time of year, as if I was plunging into a fresh semester of academia. Now that I'm taking on the challenge of online mentoring with the Pixel Producer tier, the feeling is greater than ever. Indeed, I have a solid line up of pixel goodies and I'm ready to bring my A game!
A new Pixelmins series will b...
Well, it's time to vote again. Runway Kids is pretty much done, except for a final compilation of all the characters I will release soon, then it's on to a new series! I have a bunch of ideas but before I narrow down a concept I wanted to gauge your interest in general categories and what they might entail. After this general vote I'll hit you with another poll with more specific concepts.

Lady Ko
Age 24
Yokohama, Japan
Model/student teacher
Lady Ko was born into a filthy rich family involved in the import export business. Her status and obvious outward beauty always intimidated her peers and made it hard to make lasting friendships. If only they knew how talented she was they’d really be scared shitless. All is well, she never felt the need to mingle with the masses and kept herself busy with learning new skills. Of those skills she conjured the...

Yo! Got some more progress on the upgrades. This shows the first few visual changes to the Focus drive, which is incorporated into the engine just behind the canon. Focus is a special ability that allows you to slow time around you while you remain fast. Very handy for evasion, or chasing down any cowardly baddies trying to escape.
Also threw in a teaser screen of the last boss fight, which is now fully implemented and balanced!
Hey pixel friends! Just want to let you know I'm delaying this month's Pixelblog a little. I'm delving into the world of tiles with this lesson. Honestly, I'm not very good at it, but I think it's an important subject so I want to make sure I present it the best I can. Furthermore, I'm hoping to make it a multi-part series with each lesson building upon the last, eventually producing a top-down level and fully animated character. Therefore, it's critical I get it right from the first lesson. ...

Quick update. Making some headway on the upgrades improvements. This is the first couple visual evolutions you'll see on the laser. There are 3 more visual evolutions, which I have completed, but again, can't spoil it all!

Static artwork from Pixelmotion 20.
I get a lot of my inspiration from frequent country outings. That creative energy translates into all kinds of visions, but sometimes I just want to capture what I literally see. Of course, there is always imagination and stylistic embellishment at play. Photorealism is never the intention. That's what cameras are for.

Cathedral Road
Even on the hottest days, a drive through the valley put his soul at ease.
Art and music done by me. The title of the track is Day Cruisin'.
I love driving through the country side. The gentle landscape flowing by resonates something deep in my soul, and I feel compelled to express these feels. This scene is a fairly accurate representation of an area I frequently cruise around. I hope it gives you a feeling of peace and joy.

Nuru
Age 21
Myeba, Tanzania
Student/model
Although Nuru was born in Tanzania her family moved to the United States shortly after her birth, and settled in Atlanta. Upon visiting her native country later in life, she awakened an urge to express her roots through fashion. However, the color combos and exquisite patterns of authentic Tanzanian designs were hard to find in American retail. Forced to stitch up her own threads, she discovered a great aptitude for fashion...
Heya! Been working on improving the upgrades ui lately. In order to make the upgrading process more satisfying, I'm making the visual changes to your ship in the ui much more significant than what we currently have implemented.

This is the current upgrades menu. The ship will start out in a much more raw state than this. A visual change will occur to the specific component every 5 to 10 upgr...

Updating the look of the site a bit to bring in my two year anniversary on Patreon. The originals are still nice, but I felt it was time for a fresh coat of paint. Therefore, I kept the same concept and fancied up the details. The new versions are the same size, just more color and details makes them look higher resolution.
The flying city represents my Patreon; sort of a pixel art utopia in the sky where all are welcome to come learn, or simply be inspired by the sights. Furthermore,...
Hello everyone! It’s my two year anniversary here on Patreon! I launched at the beginning of August back in 2017. I had been planning for several months and was terribly nervous about finally making my site live. Although I had somewhat of a following on Twitter, and I hyped the launch with loads of content, the first 24 hours after launch were dead silent. The next day, I was able to get a few friends and family on board after practically begging. It was nearly a week before I got my first...

The son of a miner, Oscar had a very common childhood rooted in tradition. Although grateful for the security and love provided in his upbringing, the lack of exposure outside his community had him feeling some serious wanderlust by the time he hit his teens. His wish to travel was finally fulfilled when allowed to go on a special school trip to Tokyo. The experience abroad greatly inspired him and sparked a desire t...
