Throttle it, baby! One more tease of the Titan launch scene from the intro. The subtle perspective on the handle really adds a lot. Next, I have to animate the cell with the Titan launching from the hangar then I'll be ready to compile all the cells into one cohesive sequence. Getting there.

Thought I'd share another tease of the story sequence as I inch along with it. Still busy with the Mega Brain level and also working on tutorial content this week, so not a whole lot of new assets to show. Really, most of the graphic content is finished at this point. The final boss, story content, and some minor ui stuff are pretty much it. I'm currently planning the final boss design and should have tangible pixels soon!

Back with some TD updates for you! We've mostly been working on the Mega Brain level these past couple weeks. I've completed all the assets and the level is currently being implemented into Unity.

Now that pixel minis are back, we need to decide a theme for the next series. As a refresh, pixel minis are simply small scale static pieces. I try to keep it to a 64x64 canvas but will make exceptions. These give me a chance to focus on sprite work, or create minimalistic scenes.
I decided I want to focus on full character sprites, as it's something I haven't done much of on here. So now I just need to narrow down theme/style for said characters. I'm equally excited to pursue any of these...

Heya! Got some boss action for you this week. This is the Hyper Queen, which resides in Hyperspace, feeding off the countless space wrecks drifting about. We are able to iterate and use the same concept for all 3 Hyperspace levels. First encounter is medium sized, second encounter gets longer and more aggressive, third encounter there are two long ones with all new patterns. As you may know, I like to use contrast both visually and conceptually. Furthermore, I often find myself immersed in worlds that combine rustic fantasy with cutting edge science fiction. Visually, I really like the composition and colors so I kept the animated version clean and somewhat simple. I should do vertical compositions more often.

Local Skyway
I kept the animation concepts fairly simple but still tedious to string everything together. There are about 90 frames just for the character movement. Still had lots of fun making it. Funny how cinematic pixels can feel. I would love to expand on some of these ideas and string together multiple scenes into a short animated film eventually.

Making good progress on the final level, Mega Brain. On the outside this planet sized fortress is constructed of impenetrable armor covered in razor sharp spikes, as shown in last week's update. But inside you'll find the fortress full of pulsing organic matter. Brain tissue extending as far as the eye can see, appearing almost like a micro galaxy with illuminated pulsations.

Hey everybody! It's officially Spring around here and I'm excited to start to see life return to the landscape. More than any other art or human endeavor, nature is really what gets my creative juices flowing. By the end of winter the bleak landscape provides little inspiration, but it's worth enduring to fully appreciate the rebirth in spring. I don't think I would appreciate it or be as inspired by nature in a place without dramatic seasonal changes.
