Kryptonian Resolution Page 05 - Discard

Being that page 05 is one panel, I want it to be dynamic and exciting.  This camera angle does NOT provide a good enough reader experience, so I'm showing what could have been - and thankfully was not.  :)

I do want to include a lot of the characters, though.  Seeing as how it is just one panel, I think it should be extra good.  At least so far as I'm able to do.  But the first attempt that I'm showing here just doesn't do it for me.

There was a miscommunication between the writer of Kryptonian Resolution and I that has been resolved, as far as I can tell. I have been paid! Which means I can continue to work in the comic.

Page 5 is a single panel splash, so it’s kind of like a big pinup. I will probably start that today, while also starting a request pinup - and those will likely take up the month.

I can’t wait to post the sketch/layout of these two pieces!

This was fun!

I'm pretty sure I'll be back to my regular inking style and not doing greyscale coloring, but I do enjoy using pinups as a testing ground for new techniques and processes.

I was feeling like trying out a Greg Capullo-ish style.  I like it, but I'm sure I'll be back to my regular style soon!

Also, I have no idea what kind of alternate version I'll do, if I do one at all - this being an unpaid month.  

Finally, I'm going to do a different coloring style, starting with greyscale, and then coloring that.  I spent a good part of today just messing with that, so we'll see how it goes.

Back in Business....?

As I've mentioned, I've been transitioning to a new PC.  The whole process has been very frustrating and time-consuming, but I'm pretty much where I want to be.  

The huge bonus is that my Wacom Cintiq finally seems to work again!  Granted, the resolution is capped out at 1024x768 (it's supposed to be 1920x1080), but the screen works, the pen works, etc.  And since it's on my desk horizontally, rather than vertically like a monitor, I can actually work on stuff in pr...

Quick note - PC!

After 9 hours trying to assemble everything, finishing at 2:45am this morning, and continuing into today, and then 8 more hours of troubleshooting, I finally have a PC that's going to tear through all the heavy lifting that my Macbook struggled with.

Tomorrow I have to spend some time installing programs, but anything I do in May is basically FREE!

Reminder of May 1st (no) Billing

All of my new computer parts are here, in boxes.  All except my case, which is supposed to arrive on Thursday.  Yay!

Idea for when I resume in June

Last night, an idea came to me for something that I quite frankly, haven't seen anyone else do, and wonder what you guys think.

I will draw a pinup of one or two generic characters, and patrons (probably $8) will submit WHO they want to see.  So for example, if there are three $8 patrons, one could say Spider-Man and Gwen Stacy, one could say Doctor Doom and Sue Storm, and one could say Link and Zelda.  I'd basically do an alternate version for each patron, adjustin...

Stupid Girl

This is a character I created around 12-15 years ago, but never really did much with.

Well, I never lost my love for her, and I'm going to develop her into a legit comic that will be promoted and crowdfunded (via Indiegogo, of course) for release probably in mid-2021.

I also was really trying to analyze Aron Lusen's coloring, and...well, my stuff will probably always look like my stuff, no matter what I do.  Aron is awesome, though.  He was one half of Liquid!, ...

Pausing Patreon May 1st

Hey guys!

I've fallen way behind where I wanted to be, so I've already set Patreon to pause during the month of May.  This means Patreon will not charge you on May 1. Billing will resume on June 1st.

I will most likely still do artwork in May, and I think Patreon will let me post it, but there will be no billing.  If I can't post it, and/or if you can't see it, I'll just email you - this includes Kryptonian Resolution pages.

Computer for sale.

I just ordered all of the parts for a new computer, so I'm going to sell mine, since I don't have the money to keep both.  I'm very sad.

I'm selling a 2018 Macbook Pro.  16gb RAM.  256GB hard drive.  No issues at all.

It's running High Sierra - since I'm using an nVidia graphics card via an eGPU.  I can put Catalina on it if you prefer.

Images too dark?

Are my images too dark?  

When I check them on my phone, they look too dark.  But on the computer, they look good.  I wonder if my monitor isn't calibrated, or if I should simply add some brightness/contrast after I'm done with a picture?

What do you guys think.  I'm concerned that the colors are less than desirable.

I just started posing the girl, but....goodness.  I absolutely am going to love using these models!  I'm really excited.

Hey guys,

I broke down and bought a set of rigged characters to help me with poses - super helpful for bird's eye and worm's eye views, too!

I just got it a half hour ago, so I'm still figuring it out, but there are 12 body types, including one that is a perfect Superman, so I'm really excited!

I thought I'd post a quick sketch, and I hope this improves my art!

Black Flag Fan Art - Inks

Dan Fraga is one of the guys who worked for Rob Liefeld back in the day, and he had a creator-owned book called Black Flag.  He's re-launching the comic on April 25th on Indiegogo.

"Black" sketch. Just for fun.

I did this for fun, because I wanted to do something quick, before attempting to tackle the next pinup.  

This is "Black" from Art Thibert's "Black & White" comic.  He did this as an Image creator-owned book back in the 90's and just recently did an Indiegogo campaign reimagining of the origin.  

I think it'd be a lot of fun to do an Indiegogo book one day.  Or at least be part of someone's campaign as a fill-in artist, chapter artist, alte...

It's finally finished!!  

There are always things I wish were better, but hey, I still have 32 pages or so left.  Gives me a lot of opportunities to improve!

Slight Change to Tiers

It dawned on me that some people like to see progress and how things are made.  Others don't really care about that, and just want the art.

I've updated the tiers so that for $5/month, you can get either the layered PSDs or the alternate version of pinups, and for $8/month, you get both.

Miles and MJ - Rough Sketch 01

This is the general idea that I have.  Peter Parker is stuck jacking off on the couch while watching Miles fuck MJ.

With that said, this is totally not dynamic enough.  The camera angle needs work, the poses need work, etc etc.  But I still wanted to share this so you know what the general idea is.  I expect to post another sketch - $1 patrons will see it, too.
