Not an April Fools joke

Hey everyone! Between all of the excitement with MAGFest, hospitals, and my upcoming performance at 8static things are pretty crazy and keeping me silent. I'm breaking ground on new developments, but a bad thing has happened - my system is starting to hard-lock while I'm working. View Post

Some Minor Housekeeping....

Yo! Patreon is changing the layout of creator pages in about a week. I've already updated the description on my Patreon page, and I am now working on updating the tiers. Please know that nothing is changing. I may clean a few things up in the name of brevity, but you can expect the same great rewards etc from me. =]

Hope you had a great weekend!

"Real" Sega Genesis / Megadrive EDM album hits Bandcamp

Pardon the generic title, I am hoping to both inform my existing Patrons and reach non-Patrons (future Patrons?) with this one....

My soundtrack to "Where's My Mommy?" (steam) is now finally ava...

"Where's My Mommy?" is out NOW, featuring my music!

Hey friends, family, followers, patrons, and fellow poopers!

I wrote a soundtrack to a game about poop, and that game is here:

http://store.steampowered.com/app/423610/

I daresay you could classify the soundtrack as EDM, dance, trance, club, industrial, poopstep or fartstep or....something like that! It's done entirely on a single Sega Genesis, and it was a lot of fun to do, if a tad hard to p...

New Sega Genesis / MegaDrive album release imminent

Hey everyone, thanks for supporting me this month.

On March 1, "Where's My Mommy?" will release, and if you pop over to http://store.steampowered.com/app/423610/ you'll see that the soundtrack is available as DLC. That soundtrack is also my latest album, "Biteration I: Genesis of Consequence". These songs are high energy with lots of pumping beats, and I've spent a lot of time making sure they're u...

Talk to me about cartridges

I've pretty much decided: This upcoming WMM soundtrack is going to be released as DLC for the game and also on Bandcamp/Loudr/iTunes/Google/Amazon/Spotify/etc, but there's another plan brewing... That plan is to produce a Sega Genesis (or Megadrive as the case may be) cartridge that will play in a real system.

The goal is to produce the cartridge, custom label, and put it in an original Sega Genesis case with an insert and booklet to match. The cartridge would boot and give you liner notes...

Turtleneck delivery complete!

Hey all, thanks for supporting on Patreon! Everyone should now have a download code for Turtlenecks, check your messages if you don't!

Things are crazy over here, so $1 Patrons have their tracks early! Bonus! I really needed to do all the code-sending at once today. I'm so very close to being done with this soundtrack, and it should be ready and up by the end of the month. That means $4 (and up) Patrons will get the entire thing, and for everyone below I would still like to deliver an...

Turtlenecks, aka Right Said Benny Benassi

The poop game is almost out! Maybe you say that every time you need to do a #2, but the more time I spend typing this description and the less time I spend on pooping out these tracks for the game, the more stressed I (and the studio in charge of the game) will be. Therefore, I give you this sample to listen to, and I'll return in a week to deliver a finished version for you, my Patrons!

Retrocovered. Revised. Revisited. Re-recorded. Re2rocovered.

What's up, Patrons?

I wanna tell you about Retrocovered. Many moons ago, I released my first album, The Midnight Chiptunes, which is now free on my Bandcamp thanks to you! While working on that, I was aimlessly working on more assorted pop and VGM covers with a singular goal: to tribute songs near and dear. A year later, I realised I had 13 tracks. In celebration (and also preparation for...

Do you have Retrocovered?

Hey everyone!

I'd like to share my album Retrocovered with you. And if you're a Patron, I'd like you to have it as pledge material. This would commemorate its release across iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, Google Play, etc.

That said, I'd also like your input. This is an already-released work that would just happen to show up on more platforms than just Bandcamp, and there's a chance that a handful of you have it. So, I'd like to know if any current Patron does have it, and/or ...

Youtube Music launched today. Still no music royalties.

Why do people listen to music on Youtube?

I recently asked this question on social media and got a variety of responses. There are an increasing number of people that report youtube is not blocked and other streaming sites are. Also, it's definitely true that almost anytime you search for a song, the youtube results come up first. Because of that, Youtube is basically the "MTV for the next generation" when it comes to music. Kids these days are super into searching for music and just hitti...

Here's a sample of "Pinch it Off"

I'm trying to further evolve my Sega FM work as I hope you can hear. =] This track, like the others I'm doing for "Where's My Mommy?" is done on a single Sega Genesis / Mega Drive.

The download code will arrive in your Patreon inboxes when pledges process. Please feel free to share the Soundcloud link in the meantime!

Next "Where's My Mommy?" track drops tomorrow, preview tonight

Hey Patrons,

Tonight, DJ Astov, who spins at http://eve-radio.com/ will be spinning my next track for the game "Where's My Mommy?", which I've titled "Pinch It Off". His set is generally very beat-centric and he goes live at 11pm eastern - in just over an hour. I'm hoping this will be a boost to Patreon and also my Bandcamp subscriptions, where the track will be downloadable only to you two groups until the soundtrack relea...

Monthly vs Per-creation? Rewards?

Hey all. Do you like the way things are currently set up here? I've been asked on a few occasions why my campaign isn't monthly. To tell the truth, I've considered switching to that model because I see the current trend moving that way (and it would certainly help me complete more) but I still worry that it would be considered abuse of the system.

That said, I am considering changing some of the rewards around a little bit. The group hangouts thing was fun when we did it, but response has ...

The game is currently on Steam Greenlight and needs your votes. Please hit http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=516355703, log into steam, and hit that Yes button so we can self-publish!

How to use a Sega Genesis to explain Adult Life

All my Patrons should now have download codes to this track, which is apparently... what's the vernacular... "blowing up the spot" (am I showing my age yet?)!

"My Adult Life" is currently getting 20 times the plays of any of my other tracks and over half of the plays of any of my stuff on Bandcamp daily. I'd like to see it continue to do well before I put it up anywhere else; I'm just careful like that.

Please help me continue to spread the word if you ca...

Sega Genestep? Elevator Drive? MegaDrum?

Something is happening, and I'm not quite sure what it is. All I know is that it's some combination of EDM (That's Elevator Dance Music for the uninitiated), four-operator FM bass wobbles, square waves, and headbob jams. It'll be a SONIC (oh no, puns!) experience!

This month's Patreon track will be "My Adult Life", a throwback to FM soundtracks from Genesis / Mega Drive, Arcade, and PC games from the early 90's. And it'll be extreme, mainly because I'm still...

Mystic Searches on The Goldbergs TOMORROW

Hey everyone, I have some pretty big news: In just a little over 25 hours the next episode of The Goldbergs is airing on ABC, and "the New 8-bit Heroes" project Mystic Searches will get what I am told to be a reasonably prominent display on the show. Why is this a big deal? Because I'm the one that will eventually be converting all of composer Jessey Foster's orchestral work on the project to NES to go in the actual game. Really exciting! So tomorrow night at 8.30pm Eastern US time, pop on ABC...

We passed $256! Thank you!

Hey! I'm typing this from a phone so forgive me for being quick, but I wanted to thank everyone for helping me achieve my $256 goal. As soon as I take care of some other responsibilities, I will begin working on some more LED effects to make shows pop. I've also added a few more milestone goals - please check them out and help me promote my Patreon so I can do more cool things for all of you.

New EP listening party in a week?

Hey Patrons! I'd like to have a listening party for the new EP, and I want to include everyone either via twitch or maybe a group hangout. Right now I can do it on the 15th of April, which is Wednesday, sometime after 7pm eastern standard time. So, my questions are: - Who can make it / Who can't? - Is there a time that works best for you? - Should I stream on twitch and everyone jump in a group chat? Or would hangouts be better? There's also skype, but I think that will probably be gross. - W...

This month: A slightly big thing

Boy, I sure know how to wow the crowds with subject lines! But seriously? Get excited: This month is bringing us a 3- or 4-track tribute EP of another major act. Can't say who yet; trying to mitigate any fallout in advance... I will say the first track is already done and it's sounding great. The EP will also go to my subscriptions on bandcamp, but it won't be buyable there; only Loudr and the platforms Loudr pushes to. So, I need your help! My Loudr account is pretty unknown by fans. C64est with ColorChord visuals on LED grid

Here it is! In this video you can see my (Patron-supported) track, C64est, playing, with visuals running on the LEDs. We need to make the LEDs do more things, but this is a great start. Jan 2015 Patron-supported content

Boring title, I know - I just typed up a huge long post and it vanished (twice!) so I'm now typing the abridged version. =] I've been hard at work getting my video-fu up to par, in multiple ways: 1) The video I posted earlier this month uses something called ColorChord. Charles has been hard at work on it and I've been testing and providing feedback. The entire thing has been rewritten like twice and it's now extremely stable and modular! 2) Remember my "Cool visual thing" milestone? Because ...

New visuals: Check out this video

So hey! I recently monetized my YouTube channel after receiving a resounding "DO IT" and I made a resolution to try and pay more attention to it. This is a part of that. In that vein, I've been testing out some cool music visual ideas with my buddy Charles and providing feedback, and I wanted to show it to everyone. These visuals are generated in realtime using a DFT rather than an FFT, which means instead of a "regular" frequency analysis, it specifically maps frequencies of notes. Then it fi...

Happy December 2014

Hey Patrons! I just wanted to wish everyone a happy holiday season, no matter what you celebrate! If anyone's interested, I've lowered prices on Chiplust, Chipping of Isaac, and P8M downloads on bandcamp; I also reactivated the FINISHP8M code if you want to get a P8M poster at cost. Thanks for all your support this year!

Rescue? More like NEScue, amirite?

Hi Patrons! Recently dropping on the unsuspecting masses alongside my Dungeonmans Demakes is a remix for Beatscribe's Starship Rubicon OST. This game recently got a re-release and is worth a look, and the soundtrack has an interesting blend of chipsounds and beats. If you're in a hurry but still want to hear what I did, listen to track 3 (Rescue) and then my version, track 7. I decided to take the combination of chips and deconstruct them into something that a single NES could do. I have a l...

Oct 2014 Wrapup

Ladies and gents, thanks so much for being a patron! I say thanks a lot — maybe it's getting old — but it's because I really do appreciate you staying on-board with me. Payments process starting Saturday, codes should go out Monday or Tuesday when everything finishes up. 2. The reason I haven't gotten...
