Patron Extra: The Frank Dux Kumite Article

A little something extra for our patrons this month! As promised, here is our skeptical (and heavily annotated) read of the original Black Belt magazine article that promoted Frank Dux's nonsensical fantasies into the larger world.

Enjoy!

Common Misconceptions, Part2

A common misconception is a viewpoint or factoid that is often accepted as true but which is actually false. They generally arise from conventional wisdom (such as old wives' tales), stereotypes, superstitions, fallacies, a misunderstanding of science, or the popularization of pseudoscience. Some common misconceptions are also considered to be urban legends, and they are often involved in moral panics.

The Symbionese Liberation Army

The United Federated Forces of the Symbionese Liberation Army (SLA) was an American far-left organization active between 1973 and 1975 that considered itself a vanguard army. The SLA was considered by the FBI and American law enforcement as the first terrorist organization to rise from the American left. Most fugitives of the group were apprehended in 1975 and prosecuted. The pursuit and prosecution of its members lasted until 2003, when former member Sara Jane Olson, another fugitive, was convicted and sentenced for second-degree murder.[1][2][3]

Forbidden Places

Okay, so this episode isn't about the Meat Puppets album, but since there's no Wikipedia article about the thing this episode IS about, and since the format has me putting a Wikipedia link here, this is kind of the best I can do...
