The Shadow Shard Page 53 Thumbnails
I'm working on a page that concludes this arc. The layout is going to be slightly different that what you see above, but key frames don't change. As I mentioned before, thumbnails are just crude sketches that allow me to plan the page and are later discarded.

Now inking her coat - this technique is called cross-hatching and you can see on her foreleg how I'm gradually building up the layers :)

Inking, inking... Here I am praticing one of the core ink drawing skills: "acquiring command of the basic strokes".
The wings are inspired by this amazing artist from tumblr.

Inking! Line weight (the thickness of the line in front vs back) is not correct here, but I will be fixing it on the go.

Here we have a) general & form shadows b) occlusion shadows d) ambient occlusion shadows d) blueish atmospheric perspective e) some highlights
Next I will be adding light & cast shadows and more :-)

Rainy Day (Finished)
And finally, Rainy Day is ready.
I got an idea for this illustration in the midst of the winter. I wanted to draw something about rainy warm summer. Plus younger Twilight & Spike in Canterlot! I hope you will enjoy it. It was fun to make and I hope you liked all those "work in progress" posts as well. I will post one wip video tomorrow.
