Original version on top and current version on bottom. Decided on the change because I felt the second image would give a better sense of geography as well as the fact that the very next shot will be a front shot anyway so it'd feel a bit redundant coming from technically the same point of view. It's all about coverage and letting the audience get an idea of what is in the creators head from a fully formed perspective.

So this will be the soldier waiting outside the elevator for his inevitable face smack. Onward.

This whole sequence is going to end with a soldier waiting for the elevator on the first floor, to where once the doors open Snake is going to punch him right in the face, knocking him out. Let's go.

I basically blew up the size of the control panel from the previous shot then detailed it out a bit. I've animated the buttons, screen as well as the doors closing and now I need to actually animate Snake. Back to work.

Yeah it's a short one, more of a bridge shot than anything else. Snakes turn at the end will be the transition to the next shot which will be a close up of the control panel where he'll press for the 1st floor. Onto it.

Sorry this one took as long as it did. Fortunately this next shot won't be as elaborate, as it'll just be Snake getting inside the elevator and hitting a switch. Let's go.

Still animating Snake, but thought I might start uploading comparison shots from the original game from now on.

The gif's frame rate is slower than intended, I'm not very good with human anatomy so this might be the best I can do. Now on to Snake sneaking into the elevator from the left wall. Apologies for this taking so long, been pretty busy with work lately, hopefully when the holidays come around I can get my grind on a bit.

Found this in my work pad I had scribbled down months back, I was planning out the shot where Snake jumps from the crates as they're being shot up. I ended up going with a totally different point of view. The other little doodles are for mascot characters I've been drawing for my job.
Sorry for the lack of updates on the project recently, we had a big work meeting all last week, I've been sick most of this week and now I've just started having meetings about my future at my current job. Doesn'...

I've realized that I drew the background too small compared to the original (upper right section) so I'm going to have to elongate the room further back, extend the pillars and add a door at the end. Work has been busy so I haven't had a chance to put much time into this which kills me.

A short shot that typically took longer than it should. Snake will sneak in right after them and hit the button for the first floor. On to it!

Haven't updated in a bit, had some artists block when it came to the soldiers in this shot but I think I have them figured out. Like I've said in the past I always have problems with anatomy but fortunately with animation you can't judge the work on a single frame so in a sense I can hide my own inadequacies once everything starts moving.

Now to actually animate the soldiers. I always have trouble drawing people and making them walk/run, so we'll see how this goes.

Now to draw the inside of the cart then animate three soldiers who'll come running out of it.

With these next two shots, the elevator will open (top) and a few soldiers will come running out (not drawn) and in the second shot Snake will be hiding behind the wall to the left (not drawn) where he'll wait for them to go past and hop into the elevator and head back to the first floor.

Here's the whole shoot out as is. I wanted to play the scene from the original game first but when editing it with my footage it'd ended up all jittery and the video would cut to green. I don't know what any of this means so I just uploaded the animation footage on its own.

The chair look like it's haunted, but it's actually for simulating a zoom in effect for when I actually apply the zoom in After Effects.

Short shot, now to animate what he's actually staring at which will finish the scene.

Yes, that's a pre-war vintage pachinko in back. Once the scene is complete I'll explain the subtext.

I said in the previous post this would be the last shot of the scene, but I've decided to split it into two with Snake strafing into the room anticipating another enemy then lowering his weapon upon discovering the grenade launcher, finishing with a close up.

Here's the background: https://imgur.com/a/Jloym
I rendered the Gif in After effects which is why it has this heavy motion blur.
The blood on the crate is supposed to spell out 'V', though I don't want to elaborate exactly why just yet. Now to move to the scenes final shot.
have the basic movement down, now to detail it with some light shine and shadow then will get to drawing up the background which may be panoramic.

I know there's an entire installation process for suppressors but everything in the animation is short hand so Snake's going to just slap it on. I'm going to go back and animate the suppressor actually screwing into the barrel then I'll move onto Snake catching it as it spins in mid air.
2017-09-25 10:28:00 +0000 UTC View Post
I dunno, probably just me. Now to animate him catching the suppressor.

Not necessarily animation related but character related to the project, may end up doing more character sketches for a design document when the project is complete down the line.

The suppressor will shoot out from the camera's lens, transitioning from the bullet hole in the previous shot, and spin in the air until Snake catches it and attaches it to his pistol. I'm going to animate it in reverse so I can establish the side on view you see above first. It doesn't really make any literal sense, but once this entire scene is done I will edit it together with the scene from the original game for context.
