My current brush set! I used it notably for my leyendecker study. It’s very compact, includes 3 brushes I’ve customised myself and 2 airbrushes already default in CSP, but folded into this zip for ease. My current favourite is Son of Oily Boy!

Compatible with Clip Studio Paint!

Classic illustration, but make it Final Fantasy XIV!
I decided to get back into my work flow with a style study of one of my favourite artists, J.C. Leyendecker. I borrowed his piece Couple Descending a Staircase, an editorial illustration from his work on Arrow Collars & Shirts advertising. (See the original above!) Leyendecker was a master of oils, using bold paint strokes and colour to create one of the most distinctive styles of the 20th century.
I can...

A new Elden Ring character appears! I made myself another Tarnished and a template to make fake lore entries for items 😄
Attached to this post is a high-res file of the painting above.
~~
Rhamni was once known as ”the Incorrupt”, a cleanrot knight in sworn service to the demi-god Miquella. When the great swordswoman Malenia was matched in battle and fell into slumber, and Miquella was stolen away, Rhamni’s shames were twinned like her liege lords.
She departed...

My good pal, previously a player in my Gloaming Toll game, is running a Strixhaven magic college campaign next and I get to be a player! Here's some art I've done so far, because if there's one thing I can do in D&D it's get carried away.
The last image includes art from 2020 (on the right) when I doodled a throwaway wizard idea-- his 'spellbook' is a span of rich cloth with the spells woven in on strips of silk. He's from an elven royal family of wizards who hang their spellw...

I was never happy with how my piece of the ‘mountain pass’ prompt turned out last year for yeehawgust (image 2) so I went back and took a 2nd shot at it now I’ve been working on backgrounds and landscape a lot more. I also kept screenshots of the progress, so I’ll finally be able to put together a decent process of how I tackle backgrounds for my illos!

A small bushel of personal art and sketches from this spring! A little Elden Ring, lots of FFXIV characters, some star wars and another NPC from my D&D campaign!
I've also included here the high-resolution image series I made for my Star Wars OCs, attached below. I'm very pleased with how they ended up! It contains 9 illustrations, 1 comic, and a title card as I'd image it on screen. It was a fun project!

At the start of this year I had every intention of drawing up something medieval, putting together another book, a little writing. I even had a draft all bullet-pointed out.
But then in February I took a trip up to York. In the 10th century, at the height of the Viking Age, it was known as Jorvik (yor-vick). It was the capital of Norse-occupied England and a swathe of the British Isles known as the Danelaw. Needless to say, it really reignited my love of this brief slice of Europe...

It’s May! Spring is here, it’s a perfect time to post druids.
A little while ago I decided to redraw my very first Dungeons & Dragons character, a druid named Nyr. I only got to play him for a little while (thrown in at level 10!) but it was plenty enough to fall in love with tabletop games and druid as a class. I included the very first art of him that I did from almost 6 years ago!

An OC I made six??? whole years ago, originally in Skyrim as a protagonist, and he quickly spiralled into a very fun character to write and draw.
Originally he‘s called Orix, but I sought out the very similar but much more appropriate Orik (or Örik) for the fictional Viking Age setting that lives in my head rent free.
I’m very pleased with the soft tones on this piece, so here are some close-ups and progress shots too.

This guide will concern Clip Studio Paint, but the basic idea of gradient maps and how to use them effectively can be applied to Photoshop too.
What is a gradient map?
You might have seen digital artists mention their use of gradient maps, or even tried them out yourself. They're a fantastic tool for getting interesting colour effects on your art in very littl...

Hello patrons!
I've got a guide for you on how to apply a film-grain effect to digital images, but I think it's just as important to know why you're doing something as how to do it. So here we go!
What is Film Grain?
This effect is a mimic of something that occurs on old-fashioned analogy film and photography. This visual 'noise', disturbance and texture on images and film reel, was created by particles and chemical processes ...

some more Confessor Cohle! Building a character in your brain as you play is my favourite passtime. In Elden Ring’s fiction, he belonged to the heretical sect of Mt. Gelmir, and was then converted back to the faith of the golden order before the start of the game. Lots of revelations and juicy lore. Lots of energy to draw it too!
