UL1 Book 9 - Chapter 499 - Floor 78

Fowl shook his head in disbelief at him.

“You do realize… that I’m now at a place no dwarf ever believes they can achieve?”

“So I take it the potion did what I hoped?” Max asked.

A snort came from his friend. “And then some.  Gods! I’m now at a 258 strength! Two stats, Max! Two! I’m…”

He watched as a few tears formed and ran down his tan cheeks, vanishing into his brother's brown beard.

“It’s okay. You’re the warrior I always knew...

Chapter 7: Can’t think of a name for this chapter

"What the hell is going on?" Khalil muttered, staring at the bipedal bird man, who resembled an anthropomorphic falcon.

From the moment he had awoken in the avatar, He had been left speechless. His brain did not know how to process what it was seeing or what it was feeling. When he had stepped through the gate, he felt like he had fallen asleep. When he opened his eyes and tried to move, he heard something crumbling, breaking fre...

Chapter 5: The Trials

New words rose up from the floor and this time, they were accompanied by a female voice. It was calm, almost seductive. And yet, hearing it speak startled the hell out of him.

"Lay down where you are, Champion Khalil."

"What the hell?!" Khalil gasped.

"The lore imbued in the Helmet of The Avatar will read your being and deepen its connection."

Before he could react, the headset wrapped around his skull for a second ti...

Chapter 3: School’s Out

Khalil Anthony stared at the Scantron sheet sitting on his desk. Multiple choice questions were supposed to be easy, he thought. But these were kicking his ass. As he filled in the answer for each one, the clock in the corner kept ticking away the time as if to mock him. The teacher, Mrs. Ives, kept walking up and down the aisles to make sure nobody was cheating on the exam. He caught a whiff of her perfume as she passed by and his face scrunched. It was ...

Ok - An author I know is trying his hand at all this. Wanted to know if he could get some feedback from people who enjoy it before he tries launching. I'm going to copy/paste like 5k words at a time (over 4-5 posts). If you are willing, give it a read give some feedback!

Hey everybody, I'm writing my first litRPG/progression fantasy and I'm kind of nervous about it. (And that is an understatement. I am very very nervous.) But I have enough chapters and I think that I could...

BTtNR - Book 3 - Chapter 028 -

Einar watched as the shapes beneath the sheets reformed, and the fourteen Vikings who had died looked at each other, faces not hiding their pain. None cried here. They all knew what they had signed up for. Each desired power and what they came for required them to understand that death was guaranteed.

He nodded at the three men from his pack, sad that Starkard and Thorlief had died. The others in the pack gave them great honor and the report of how both men had managed to fight through ...

UL1 Book 9 - Chapter 498 -Max and a Troll

“You’ve been staring at those for a while. Are you expecting something special to happen?”

Shaking his head, Max gave Tanila a playful scowl before returning his attention to the materials laid out on the workbench.

All the various crafting items he had acquired so far were laid out in order next to the dragon’s tooth he had been given.  Inside him was a sensation that he was close.  Max could almost envision the weapon it would create in his mind. He wasn’t re...

BTtNR - Book 3 - Chapter 027 -

“You Vikings are a crazy bunch,” Varanda said. “Each day I wonder how many more of you are going to die when you frolic off down another tunnel, searching for something to kill.”

Bartia started to chuckle and Einar shrugged as he studied the female dwarf, one of the guards for the dwarven shipment.  Her red hair was like fire and the fact that Skardi was only a few inches shorter might have made someone think she was a Viking from behind.

Except for the fact that ...

UL1 Book 9 - Chapter 497 - Return of Dwarves on Ice

“You do realize dwarves aren't meant for this!” Fowl shouted as he slid down the ice.

Max laughed as he watched his friend almost crash into another one of the columns that ran the length of the room from floor to ceiling.

“Fowl’s right!” Batrire exclaimed from his back. “Still, I can’t help but laugh at this.”

The other two women laughed as Fowl bounced along the floor. The caves they were in continued their descent, and he was their best tool right now as o...

Everett started to laugh as Tom stood there slack-jawed.

“A single hit…” their trainer said slowly. “He killed that in a single hit.”

“You doubted anything less?” Dexic said as she slapped him on the back. “I mean, you watched him fight in the arena, and you know what floor he’s on.”

“I… I mean, yeah, but seeing it in person is… kind of mind-blowing,” Tom stated. “You and I both know those would tear us a new one, and he’s out there cutting th...

Inside the chest was a deeper purple swirling vortex, and inside it were two items for each. Tanila had two bone rings waiting for her to claim while Fowl had a ring and a bone chest piece.  Batrire mimicked their mage with two rings as her reward, and their ranger drooled over the bone pants and helm that awaited her.

Max stared at a large shield that looked made of bones and a ring that appeared darker than everyone else's.

Four large pink crystals radiated with...

“What are we going to do?!” Fowl shouted as Max came near them.

“I don’t know! I hit it with everything I had, and it still survived. Any ideas?”

The five of them looked at each other and their ranger spoke first.

“My arrows aren’t doing anything against the boss. I sent a normal attack, and it basically just bounced off. I could use one of my boss arrows and empower it, but since you weren’t having any luck, I preferred not to do so.”

UL1 Book 9 - Chapter 493 - Things That Hit Hard

Max felt pressure assault him the moment he entered the 75th floor.

It was overwhelming and seemed to dwarf anything he had ever sensed except for the void colossus, Zogooruth.

When his eyes revealed what was before him, a pit grew in his stomach and the truth of what they were about to face set in.

All around was what looked like a battlefield, except it was easily one-sided.  Skeletal remains stretched in every direction, littering the dark soil, some piled up, others...

UL1 Book 9 - Chapter 492 - Kemruss

The power radiating from Kemruss’s body felt like a drizzle that had turned into a hurricane.

Like when someone reached the 60th floor of the tower and acquired an aura, he now gave off a presence that would cause most to flee in terror.

One moment, they had been gaining on the gold dragon; the next he surged forward with a speed that seemed impossible unless it was a skill of some kind.

Like a shooting star, the massive dragon went from four hundred yards away...

Weekly update

Hey all - sorry for the late update. I usually try to do on Monday but it's been a week (as life has for some reason lately).

Got home from camp and Mom ended up in hospital. She's out now but it caused a little havoc. On other end, my uncle I've known since I was 5 is on hospice and should pass in the next day or two at most.

I've been typing when I can but it hasn't been as much as I'd like. Making some changes, hiring someone to help with my kids during the summer so i can ...

UL1 Book 9 - Chapter 491 - Rakonath's Call

“So you know what tomorrow means?” Batrire asked as they all climbed out of the carriage.

“Another boss,” Fowl answered, his voice peppy.

“No… I mean, yes, but not just that,” their healer replied. “Three-fourths through the tower. I…” She paused as she spoke, looking at them for a moment. “This process, the speed of everything we’ve done.  It’s not even been two years, and we’re blazing through it like it’s nothing.”

Max saw all his frie...

UL1 Book 9 - Chapter 490 - Promise Kept

Max and the others couldn’t help but smile as Fowl approached where they stood.

He was covered in blood from head to toe as the corpses of four massive centipedes that had rushed and assaulted their warrior.

After defeating the first group of three as a party, they gave Fowl the chance he wanted, letting him tank all the creatures to death.  It had taken a solid minute before their dwarf had bashed in the cracked protective shell on each of their heads, sending each one to ...

“It’s too early,” Stacy moaned as she shuffled into the main room of her place. “What do you want?”

“I’m about to head into the tower but realized something last night… a hard lesson that comes only through pain and I realized I needed to ask you something,” he replied.

Frowning, his sister moved to the couch where he pointed and plopped down.

“Did Tom say something? I mean, he–”

Shaking his head, Max put a hand on her knee and squeezed.

Everett’s frown remained as he watched Max lean the pedestal he had taken from the last tower floor against the wall.

“Not technically,” Max replied as he turned and closed the dimensional space.

Tom still can't get over the fact that I have this…

UL1 Book 9 - Chapter 487 - Cordellia

The soft glow of the inn did almost nothing to chase away the shadows and nightmares in Cordellia’s mind.  Keeping track of how many days it had been since Tanila and Max had rescued her from that hell made it worse.

The worn wooden table provided a barrier between her and them, her fingers wrapped around a cup of expensive elven wine that she had barely touched.  Elsewhere in the room, life was taking place, and laughter and the sounds of others living rang out.  Each ...

Without making a sound, Max watched as the automaton child stared at where the light was streaming up from the hole in the floor he had made.

A single green eye focused and unfocused, the other socket empty and black.

Its head moved from side to side, glancing around the room. As its head turned, the cable connecting to its back slid along the stone table.

“Father?”

Peering through the hole he had made, Max activated Demonic Teleportation and replaced the stone he ...

The giant gnome bent over slightly, lowered its staff, and spit. A green glob of liquid landed on the metal, causing it to bubble and pop.

Max and the rest looked at each other before slightly bending their heads as they stared at the goblin who sat on a stone throne. His red eyes stared at them behind a pair of spectacles.
