I was specifically asked to have them be in a long leaf pine forest, which isn't native to where I live - I've never been in one! But I did my best to make it loo like one based on what reference images I could gather. It turned out well, as well as the morning lighting! ^^

The background color was changed to green at the end, as well as giving him smaller fangs. The ones I drew at first were pretty big. ^^; He looks better now after doing some dental work on him, haha.

With all the icon commissions I do these days, I do three sketches to start, and then I have the commissioner choose their favorite of the three to be colored. :3
Antlers are difficult to draw, but it was a good learning experience and they turned out well in the end. :D

The reason I went with the grey background as opposed to keeping it beige is because I wanted it to reflect the environment that much of this comic has been in so far - something cold and hazy. The reason I went with that from the beginning is because I wanted the snow, the cold, and the isolation, to be a metaphor for Nes's emotional state overall, and what it has been for the past ten years.
Nes is hugging himself here for comfort in much the same way someone would be hugging themselv...

One thing I made a note of here (hence the arrow) is to make Nes's ears gradually droop from panel to panel to show his change in mood. Also, I adjusted the bottom panel to have more overall "droop" to it, with the tail pointing straight down, as well as the ears. I also made him smaller in the panel overall, to feel more isolated and empty. More on that later.

This month's drawing idea came from DJ Wolf, who suggested a Thanksgiving related idea! There were a few other good ideas, but I decided on this one since I had the strongest image in my mind for it. :3
Thank you guys again for helping me reach this huge accomplishment for getting 100+ concurrent patrons. <3 It's a major milestone, and I've already almost gained another dozen a month later haha. I'm excited to see where things will go from here, and how much creative autonomy Patreon...

These paintings have a habit of scaring me for about 3/4 of the process of making them, where it seems like nothing is coming together right and the commissioner won't be getting their money's worth.
Then boom, at some point towards the end, everything just clicks, and I get that dopamine rush that reminds me why I make them, haha.
