I'm still in the thick of reorganizing and planning, etc, but I do need to give a fairly big update.

Unfortunately, the mic that I purchased isn't going to work for me. From the moment I got it out of the box and started trying to set it up problems arose... I could get into the details but ultimately, it took a couple of days for me to even begin to use the mic and test how it recorded.
