Faerie Knight 130

Welcome to Drew K, our newest Patreon member!

My Writathon entry is up to the 22nd spot on Rising Stars as of yesterday morning, which is wonderful.  We've also long since blown past the Writathon goals.

I've just had an interview go up on Canvas Rebels, which you can check out here if you're interested.  My friend Ben, author of My Boss is the Devil, sent them my way, and I've tr...

Welcome to Lolop 12, our newest Patreon supporter!

We received the proof copy of Graal Knight in the mail yesterday, and it looks awesome.  I love holding the hardcovers, in particular: I think they just come out very nice, compared to the paperbacks.  At some point I need to go through it and check for errors before the December 6th release date, but I don't know when.  We're packing tonight and driving down to Pennsylvania tomorrow for a funeral, and we won't be back h...

Welcome to David Gustin, our newest Patreon member!

RR just hit the chapter where Trist lost his eyes, and I'm curious how they'll react. It's a pretty brutal end to the chapter, and it presented some interesting writing challenges moving forward with book three, but in the end, I'm satisfied with how it all worked out, and I hope you will be, too.

In other news, Guild Mage, my Writathon entry, has built up 250 followers in 16 days, and I'm very pleased with how it's going. ...

Thank you to Hazraa, our newest Patreon supporter!

This chapter pushes Trist's abilities into some very different directions than what we've seen in books one and two; curious how people will react, especially when it gets to RR.

In other news, Guild Mage is coming right along, and has made it onto two genre specific rising stars lists.

Thank you to everyone who has had a part in pushing my writathon effort :)

I'm considering accelerating the rate of chapters to three a week; when I began this journey, I didn't think I could keep up with that pace, but I've got a much better routine down now. I'll let everyone know once I've decided.

As of today, the readers over on Royal Road have just begun volume three.

In the meanwhile, I've been busy at Writathon, and Guild Mage: Apprentice now has seven chapters posted on Royal Road, and has broken 20k words.

Apologies that this is a day late - between Writathon and parent teacher conferences, I've been swamped.

In two days of Writathon, I've written two 3k word chapters, so I feel like I'm off to a good start!  Just waiting for RR to approve the story, and I'll let you all know when that happens. In the meantime, I've posted the chapter drafts here, under a new collection.

I'm writing this on the 29th, with less than 48 hours until the beginning of Writathon.  Most of this month has been devoted to prep for a new project, mixed with revisions on volume three of Faerie Knight.  It may seem a bit weird to be so far ahead of posting that I'm ready to start writing a new series at the same time as we're transitioning to volume three, but I've stayed a book ahead throughout this entire process, so it's actually nothing new for me.

What will be ne...

You may have noticed a new collection here - I'm honestly not certain whether its visible to the customer view, until I post the first thing in the collection. It will be for the Writathon project.

I'm making ads for the new series, while getting everything together for the first of three events I'm doing locally between now and december.  Boxes of books, my new cashbox and square to take payment, bookmarks, business cards, etc.

As I write this, on the last morning of the Stuff Your Kindle Promo, I've given out over 9,600 free ebook copies of The Faerie Knight.  I'm hopeful that in the coming weeks that leads to reviews and ratings on Amazon; I've already seen an additional 21 preorders for volume 2's December release, which is very exciting.

I'm going to be starting a new series for Writathon.  The Faerie Knight, which is completely drafted, will continue to post regular chapte...

Less than two weeks until Writathon, which is exciting.  I feel like I have a lot to do before that happens, though.

In the meantime, the first volume of The Faerie Knight is currently available as a free ebook on Amazon, as part of the second Stuff Your Kindle: Fantasy promo.  As of when I'm writing this, over a thousand copies have been given out, and we've risen to #1 for Arthurian Fantasy, #3 for Fairy Tale Fantasy, and #6 for Sword and Sorcery, as well as #162 in the kind...

The long weekend was very much needed!

I continue to work on notes for Writeathon, but it's weird not to be writing every day at the moment.  I guess I should be enjoying it, because in about two weeks I'm going to be trying to write even more than I usually do!

Oh yeah and um... Trigger warning for this chapter. It's kinda brutal.

Out for the long weekend and scheduling this all in advance.  Just ordered my square reader today, to use at three upcoming in person events where I'll have copies of faerie knight for sale.  Getting fancy!

I hope everyone in the US (or wherever you are) has a wonderful long weekend for Indigenous Peoples' day :)

I've worked my way through revising the first nine chapters of volume three, so that continues.  I'd wanted to get revisions finished before November 1st, but I don't think that's actually realistic.  I don't like to revise until after Sarah has taken a pass over the text, and while I'm willing to push myself to work at absurd speeds, I won't ask that of her.

In other news, the rough draft of volume three of The Faerie Knight is complete - convenient since this is the first chapter, here! This chapter was actually revised quite a while ago, because it had to be ready to go in the back of The Graal Knight.

Currently clocking in at 128,911 words over 62 chapters, which is five chapters longer than book one.

I've begun the editing process, and managed to do the next three chapters.  I'm going to try to get the enti...

Faerie Knight Chapter 59

[Other Viewpoints] In book one, I ended up with roughly 90% of chapters from Trist's POV, and 10% from others (Clarisant, Henry, Lionel, Ismet). Book two is 80% Trist, 20% others (Clarisant, Henry, Ismet, Valeria, Guiron). I'd be interested in feedback as to whether people notice the difference, etc.

Trist will always be the protagonist and have the bulk of the chapters, but as the story becomes more complex, and events happen that he isn't present for, I use other POVs to show those ...

Lots of revising over the last few days, and it's left me a bit exhausted, but now I can slow down a bit. I had to make sure I revised this chapter - the first of the second volume - before I posted it here for you all :)

As far as Royal Road is concerned, the second and third volumes will proceed right along using the same numbering, with no interruption. I'm going to stick to that scheme on Patreon, also, to avoid any confusion for people who come here from RR.
