Preview - Noxious Valleys

I'm posting preview on the new map pack - Noxious Valleys! A dry, unhospitable and toxic environment with some spots of plant life - struggling to survive those conditions. I've played a lot with different layouts for this one - maps should look interesting and be connecting in natural manner regardless of how you assemble them together. Will be finishing things up and posting the maps in next few days!

Blue Expanse - Full maps + printing files (B2) + hexless version

I'm uploading full versions of newest oceanic maps. I had to tinker on water wave size, so it would look good after being printed - preview version of the map looked fine while zoomed out, but there were problems close up.

Anyway - have fun with this map pack! I hope it will offer something different in terms of gameplay!

Preview - Blue Expanse

The next map pack is going to be a bit experimental! This map pack, will allow you to fight some underwater combat, at the same time I've put enough sectors with shallow water to allow you stay being only partially submerged. Hopefully this will add up some nice bonus variety to already available map packs, giving you an option to use oceanic/sea battlefield!

Desert Oasis

I'm uploading the full version of Desert Oasis map pack. It bases on one of the earliest biomes I've worked on - brings me some good memories of planning previous desert maps layout in notebook, before I've started to do it in the graphical program. A blast from the past.

Preview - Desert Oasis

(though last time working on a similar biome, the final result ended up a bit different from the original concept shown there and there were only 2 sheets with the theme). While working on new biomes layout for this month - an idea came to my mind. It's something that would be potentially cool and interesting, providing a widely different gameplay than usually - but also something that I think is rather controversial. Volcanic Moutains - Full maps + printing files (B2) + hexless version

I'm uploading the finished map pack. Have fun using it! This one is really cool to shuffle the sheets and connect them together, lots of cool terrain combinations from the gameplay point of view!

I haven't planned out what to do for a next map pack yet, but I've played Star Control 2 again and I'm quite inspired for some wild planetary landscapes!

Preview - Volcanic Moutains

I'm finishing up the work on a new volcanic biome of moutains and lava pools. I've figured out, it has been a quite a while, since I last worked on something magma related and I had some unused layout ideas to expand on  - (if working as intended) offering a lot of spots on the map sheets providing both benefits and risks. I also wanted to give lava type of biome some kind of graphical overhaul.

Tropical Pools - Full maps + printing files (B2) + hexless version

I'm uploading full version of Tropical Pools map pack. Hopefully, you will like the results. I've tried to focus on sort of 2 pararell biomes at the same time here - one made out of dry highlands and the other of wet and lush lake areas.

Preview - Tropical Pools

I'm sharing the preview of the newest map pack: tropical pools. My goal here was to make something reasonably open with highland centerpieces. I've restricted map foliage to minimal but important spots you can use to take cover. 

I've also tinkered on covering parts of maps with swarms of insects, but the results wasn't looking to pleasing in this scale - so I've decided to go with a different approach - I've placed "hive" hexes on map with nests of this type of fauna. My idea is, ...

Flooded Swamps - Full maps + printing files (B2) + hexless version

I'm uploading full versions of Flooded Swamps maps. In the end, while labeling I've decided to focus on water hexes to avoid imparing movement too much (I've played with the thought to make the map mostly out of "swamp" hexes, but playing on map like that would look like hell). That being said, I believe moving on the map is still restrictive. 

Visually - I do like the color pattern, so it's possible I'll expand on the biome in future and add another pack of swamp-themed maps, this...

Preview - Flooded Swamps

The newest map pack is going to be focused around swampy area. I've tried to balance out the atmosphere of the place with the relative ease to navigate here, despite the fact the place is a hard terrain to move around. Hopefully, the results are as intended. Winter Outpost - Full maps + printing files (B2) + hexless version

I'm uploading freshest map pack - hopefully it will be a good blast from the past, as it should fit older Winter themed maps just fine, giving you more variety if you like the terrain. I've also added a small number of things that may serve as objectives for different missions or scenarios - I've figured out older Winter maps missed stuff like that, so it might be a good addition, especially if you plan to mix those maps together.

Preview - Winter Outpost

People seemed to like older winter maps from Wave 1 a lot. Though one of recently released map packs for SlumCity surface was themed as a cold, arctic wasteland kind of biome, I've decided to make some more winter landscapes - this time more earth-like however - with coniferous forests, rivers and lakes. I've included some simple encampments which may or may not serve as mission objectives. I'll be releasing the map pack in a few days.

SlumCity Underground - Full maps + printing files (B2) + hexless version

I'm uploading full versions of underground city layer below the ice. I've managed to finish all a bit sooner than expected, I had several of my teeth removed on Wednesday so I took some off work time and I've spend some time on finishing this biome up.

WIP - SlumCity Underground

This map is pretty complicated. It will probably me take a few more days to finish it up - but hopefully the final effect will be pretty cool. As you remember, the map pack is connected with the previous one with the network of elevators on surface, transporting you down here to the underground city.

SlumCity Planet Surface - Full maps + printing files (B2) + hexless version

Quite a loaded post this time - I'm uploading 2 versions of the planet surface for a surface/underground twin map packs I've mentioned: the normal one and the night version of the map. I wasn't sure which seemed more interesting so I've gone with both.

Preview - Scorching Canyons

Preview of the new map pack - desert biome with canyons. Desert canyons were the theme of my first map pack ever, but I decided it's time to make some new additions to the biome. Those canyons are self-contained in each sheet, instead of relying on multiple maps to form a canyon. I've also experimented with some geysers and permanent smoke sources as additional features.

Pool - Surface/Underground map

I was thinking recently about a potentially cool idea, I want to know if you guys are interested in something like that, because it goes a bit out of the box and would require some custom rules.

The idea is, to create twin maps, one of the planet surface, the other of an underground facility / residential area placed directly below the ground. The underground area, would be visible through glass domes, when you are fighting on the surface above.

Preview - Lunar Surface

I will be finishing up the new biome soon. I decided to add some frozen liquid pools on the moon surface to make things pop up a bit more. From a gameplay point of view, my idea was to turn impact craters into sort of trenches you can go to and hide or take cover in while repositioning your units. I hope it will make the battle feel "different".

Coastal Night - Full maps + printing files (B2) + hexless version

I'm uploading full files of the map pack. This time I'm also including hexless versions in this post. Printing versions of the map looks brighter, to avoid troubles while being printed (it makes everything look darker, than in digital versions).

Have fun with the pack! I have some cool ideas for the next week, but I was also thinking about making more map packs set at night later on, to increase the map and scenario variety.

Preview - Coastal Night

I wanted to do some more packs set at night. 

The problem with night maps is the visibility - while everything is dark, it's hard to get this cool points of focus on the map. Adding some bright elements makes the map more interesting - so I stated to tinker on what was supposed to be some sort of fluorescent micro organisms or possibly jellyfish type of creature making the water bright and vibrant at night, end this is what I ended up with.

Mars Iron Fields - Full maps and printing files (B2)

Preview - Mars Iron Fields

This time, the map pack is focused on martian/metal theme. At first, I wanted to make a map pack with just plain martian features (which I may do in future, as an expansion to this biome's sheet pool) - but I decided it may be more interesting if I add metal elements to the battlefield. There are iron mineral formations serving as a cover and liquid metal pools.

Forest Valley - Full maps and printing files (B2)

I'm uploading full maps of this new map pack. It's a simple earth-like grassy biome with moutains, but I think my map library misses more variety in those simpler types of terrain, so I plan to work on it and give it some focus. Saying that though, for a next week I'm planning a martian-themed landscape.  

As mentioned in preview post - this map pack includes objectives placed on map sheets, you can either use in your games or ignore, depending on needs. Have fun!
