Greetings Patrons,
I'd like to introduce the latest member of our growing SoundPad family, Age of Sail.
I've been wanting to do a nautical themed SoundPad for awhile now. Age of Sail is a collection of 28 utility sounds (plus 3 musical tracks) that can be combined to simulate a large number of shipboard activities and situations.
You can layer different wind sounds and bow wakes to simulate varying speeds and weathe...

Dungeons are like taverns. Or maybe potato chips. Anyway, you can't really have enough. I've already made a dungeon, ingeniously named 'Dungeon I', and a dungeon SoundPad (now with traps!) so naturally I figured it was time to make another.
Dungeon II: Mechanical is full of gears and plates and things that go clank in the dark. It's got automata, gates, steam and sparks. It's Dwarven, or if you swing that way, Dwemer. Most importantly, it's another environment for your party to ex...

Greetings patrons,
I present, the start of so many great adventures, and an endearing RPG trope in its own right, the humble tavern.
I've actually already done 2 tavern ambiences but I still get requests for them. As you know, I write each of these requests down and yet, I can honestly say that I will never make the perfect tavern for everyone.
But then I got to thinking - maybe I can get close.
In the SoundPad tradition, this isn't just a Taver...

After our unusually balmy December, the weather gods finally decided to get with the program and lower the temperature - drastically. I was out of town last weekend with my family, about 2 hours outside of NYC, and couldn't resist bringing my small recording rig with me to see if I could capture some nature recordings.
I got up around 7am and trudged out into the woods and down to a small pond surrounded by reeds. The wind was blowing pretty steadily and my un-gloved hands were not hap...

Happy New Year everyone! I decided to start 2016 with a fairly frequent request, and, frankly, one that I needed a little convincing to do.
Lively Cafe, was created from a handful of field recordings in Brooklyn coffee shops and bistros. Turns out, it takes a surprising amount of editing to keep the audible conversations at a bare minimum. In, er..researching this one, I would typically find a good table and get 2 or 3 minutes of audio and then a couple would sit down and start talking ...

As the end of the year approaches, and the temperature in New York City hovers in the high 50's, I desperately needed something to get me in the holiday spirit.
There is something about Currier & Ives' holiday cards which always seemed to convey an idealized version of the seasons, so this ambience, 'Winter Festival' attempts to be an audio version of one of these greeting cards.
I've filed it under 'Historical' as well as 'Modern' because I don't have a category for 'Time...

I haven't done a music track in a while, and while I do enjoy making them, they present unique challenges for my 'everything is 10 minutes long' format. I decided that this track, Dark City, would be a modern TV style background bed. The kind that's often used as a subtle momentum aide. A scene that may not be full-on action, say, searching a desk, or sitting in a car watching a building often needs a boost from the soundtrack to let you know, 'hey, this is kind of exciting!'. I thought ...

In the world of role-playing games there is quite possibly no location as iconic as the humble sewer.
Countless level-1 characters have had to descend into the watery, reverberant depths to slay rats, retrieve keys or rescue a pet. No self-respecting adventurer's bona fides are complete without at least one trip here.
I was fortunate that during the couple of days I spent making this, it was raining in Brooklyn. This gave me the ...

Greetings Patrons,
As promised, here's the latest SoundPad, Combat.
Combat is a medieval/fantasy fight simulator and is a little different than the other SoundPad offerings in that it's the first one that isn't location based. My idea for Combat was to present a selection of utility sounds that could be used to enhance the fight portions of your stories and games. It would be ideal to use this in conjunction with 10 minute ambiences, other SoundPads or music selections.
A fe...

I'm working on a new combat-centric SoundPad (fantasy/medieval) and had made some trap sounds that seemed to be an obvious fit in a dungeon, so, along with some other under-the-hood tweaks I've added them to 'The Dungeon'. You can find them listed under 'Events' in the category filter.
Thanks for your continued support!
best,
Tim

When I first got a request for a wrestling/lucha type ambience I wasn't sure. About any of it really. I kind of knew about Mexico's masked wrestlers, but it was mostly through parody, or quick site gags in comedy films. But actually going down the rabbit hole - watching fights, reading about the history and the culture, was..eye opening.
This track also presented a few interesting challenges from an audio perspective. It took a few days but I finally think I got something that sounds...

I wasn't going to do a second Halloween ambience, but in my search for inspirational images I came upon this one, an engraving by R. Thew based on a painting by H. Fuseli (1789). It's such an evocative illustration of the ghost atop Elsinore that I had to go back and read the original scene. There are many film adaptations of Hamlet but only a handful really convey the sheer terror expressed by Hamlet and the guards, Horatio and Marcellus, at the appearance of the ghost in the text. So here's

Greeting Patrons,
New SoundPad is online today! Olde Towne is an audio medieval city/village simulator. It's got everything you need for creating small hamlets to bustling walled cities. Using the new 'save scene' feature you can create multiple environments using a handful of sounds and switch between them with a click of your mouse. In a few minutes you can have a town square, a desolate street, a docks district and a market.
And yes, I threw in a dragon because..well, dragons. Don't w...

2 years in a row is a tradition, right? Good. So my tradition of releasing a Halloween themed ambience in October continues with this years' track, "Nightmare". I had a blast working on this one, although I did have to stop every hour or so and watch Bugs Bunny cartoons so I didn't go kooky! I know lot's of folks have special one-shots planned for Halloween so this should be a nice option for you. And by nice I mean perfectly terrible. If you're playing a Dread, or Cthulhu game...

Greetings Patrons,
I wanted to share a new feature that I added to all the SoundPads. You now have the ability to save groups of sounds as scenes or macros.
It's really simple to use. You'll notice a new "Save Scene" button above the category filter. Just load up some sounds, adjust their volumes and click "Save Scene". You'll be prompted to name the scene, after which it will appear as a button. Save a few more scenes and then click the scene buttons to load groups of soun...

Greetings Patrons,
I've been working on some new functionality for the SoundPads lately and I needed to take a break from writing code. Ambiences are such a different part of the brain that it makes it really easy to switch between the two disciplines. I wanted to do something fun and lively and decided that a 'Roaring 20s' themed ambience should fit the bill.
A time of unbridled, post-war enthusiasm for everything, and everything to excess. Music, booze, drugs, fashion, art, sex. ...

Greeting Patrons,
I've uploaded a new ambience today called "Blacksmith Shoppe". A fair number of you have requested this recently and I thought it would be fun to flesh out my medieval town. Naturally this track can be used for fantasy, historical or even modern day settings. Truth be told, I've never been to a modern blacksmith's but I can't imagine too much has changed.
I've also been working on some behind the scenes functionality for the SoundPads which I...

Greetings patrons!
I've just finished putting the finishing touches on the latest SoundPad, called Starship. This is my 3rd SoundPad and the first one that is firmly rooted in a Sci-Fi universe. I think Starship will work well in a wide variety of sci-fi RPGs, Traveller, FFG Star Wars, Stars Without Number, anything where you and your crew are in a ship or on a station in space. I've also used it...

Hopefully your summer is going well. I'm just dropping you a quick note to let you know that there are a couple of new ambiences online at tabletopaudio.com. "Steampunk Airship" and "Medieval Battle".
A few weeks ago I released a track based on a user request that I"ve been mulling over for some time - "Steampunk Airship". If brass goggles, spats, fob-watches and gears are your thing then you should...
