Clara Sinclair chilling on a sofa.

The light here is not opportune from this side: It’s too much from the rear, but drawing the curtain softens it and lends some authenticity to the place, making it look more like a real place than a set.

Grace'full booty

Grace108x is displaying her prominent posterior view.

I’ve always been attracted to booties and frequently try to photograph them every chance. I’ve come to find that most women dearly love it when you create a shot where they have a fantastic-looking rear end.

Possibly because it’s one of those body parts they can’t see unless using a mirror, which, of course, restricts the angle it can be observed in.

Chicken wings

Gracie Sweet is doing a chicken impersonation.
Well, not really, but it was my first association with the last two images.

Some people are bound to hate these as they can lead to associations of anorexia, but I find it intriguing when I can find new and unusual views of the body in extreme positions.

The more extreme, the longer you will look at it, and regardless of what you feel when you see an image, that is a win for the image itself.

Engagement.

Selective focus

On this set of Krisowich, I felt I had shot too many series on the sofa, so I wanted a different look. I elected to shoot these with a Lomo Petzval 56mm with Bokeh Control, using a Mired Shift/Tilt adapter. The Lomo only comes with Canon and Nikon mounts, so I opted for the Shift/Tilt as I needed an adapter, knowing it would give me some added control over focus.

It’s a ƒ. 2.8 aperture, but with the shift/tilt, I can angle the plane of focus, keep it on the face, and allow the lower ...

Bunker again

This is a similar bunker as yesterday’s installment, but this time with Dovile from Paris.

Here, we had a bit of light, so an entirely different look. Because of the very high light (this was shot around 11 am, I opted for an anonymous look. I did images with her face as well, of course, but I gravitated toward this one.

Random thought:
I must admit that I enjoy juxtaposing nude women (who, among other things, to me, are a symbol of love) against a bunker that used to host F...

Minka inverso.

I loved shooting with Minka.

She has such a kind spirit and is an excellent poser.
She is very athletic and inventive in what she does.

And, importantly, she has the rare ability to work instinctively with whatever environment around her.

This is shot in the open shade of a retired F16 bunker.
Because it’s in the shade, the entire sky and concrete flooring (Tarmac) work as the main light, giving an excellent start to the metallic look of her body.

Modeling by Godthaab on the vintage couch.

I have a weird feeling about these: I liked them when I edited them, but now I feel like MEH. Nothing special. Especially the first.

I suspect it’s something with the facial expression that feels a little off to me.

I don’t feel a connection when I look at it.

What are your thoughts?

Mynte on the terasse

This apartment had a small terrace, and with the angled roof, the sun created some interesting shadows. With the big window, I could also play with reflections, making some rare mirrored shapes.

Again, it was shot with a 24-70mm Sigma Art lens 2.8

Origin Story

Kylie Le Beau in a canyon in Nevada. Like yesterday’s post, most of the light was from above, so laying the model on her side on a rock creates a sidelight on the body and a flattering look. Normally, I would have the model apply oil to her body, but the temperature was about 108F/45C, so a natural sheen of light sweat made that unnecessary.

Herodiade Frolicking

Las Grietas is a small slot canyon on the side of a volcano in Lanzarote. It’s a sweet spot to shoot if you can have it alone. But it is a trendy tourist spot, so much so that the police have cordoned off the available parking and are handing out tickets.

The challenge with slot canyons is that most light will come from above, which is generally not flattering. So, you need to pay attention to how the body is twisted so the light falls in a more flattering fashion.
What are your s...

Roundup

It's a little roundup of two studio shoots left out earlier. The first is Belzen, where I started doing some selective focus bodyscape with my 50mm ƒ0.95.

The second is G. Rasmussen. A previous set with Gitte was published some months ago, but I didn’t include this one for some reason.

April on Thomasholmphoto's Patreon

Gents and ladies:

We have a spectacular month coming up in April.🙌
As always, expect at least daily posts—photographers and Vault tiers will end up with 38 unique posts, and Connoisseurs will get thirty.

We started off Yesterday with an amazing Shibari set with Zsan Of Sweden, then it's Sekaa model, G. Rasmussen & Belzen, Herodiade, Kylie LeBeau, Mynte model, Modeling By Goodthaab, Minkamodel in just the first week, and just short of 2 hours of BTS video.

Then, t...

Chasing shadows

I’ve recently started to look at the raw footage from my Venus on Mars book - or rather, some of the great images that didn’t make the cut for the book.

This one is from Sekaa in Little Finland. She is such a graceful mover.

It’s pure sunlight, as I normally shoot when I’m on location, and I used a 24-70mm Soný G master 2.8 lens.

Domestic Fixation

I had the pleasure of shooting with Zsan of Sweden last month.

We started out chatting - a lot - and the sent out to shoot some different concepts. This was the second last - because of the marks.

She’d never done Shibari before, but I had rarely met anyone as enthusiastic before this.

I tied her to an ottoman and then elevated her arms to add tension.

The light was natural light from two windows.

After this and a break, we did another set. Once you have marks,...

The white forest

I was rummaging through my archives and came across this series of ISOE, which I’ve never published, and that seemed a pity. Here you go. For the first one, I was going for a high-key look - the green leaves were made this light by manipulating the channel mixer in Photoshop to get a fairy-tale look.

Get you burning questions answered

Gents and Ladies:

On April 7th I’ll be shooting with about 25 nude models.

And I’m considering setting up a short Q&A setting, and possibly film it.

Do you have any burning questions for models that you think could be interesting to get a wide range of response on?

Heathers balcony

I had made an appointment with Heather Vahn but was running late coming from Joshua Tree, so we only had an hour to shoot when I arrived, as she had a dinner appointment. Damn, LA traffic.

I’m astonished at what we managed to do in that hour just using available light.

If you don’t know Heather, you might be surprised if you google her.

Speaking to motivation: Why would a woman like her want to collaborate with a photographer from Denmark?

She wanted images of hers...

The red queen

Here is one more mirror shoot, this time with Anneli. I strongly considered making these B&W, but I loved the golden tones. This is a benefit of my way of editing: I don’t have to choose B&W before the end, and even if I go with B&W early on, I can almost always go back to color with minimal effort at the end if I change my mind.

I love what this position/chair does to a woman’s rear end, as do the women I photograph in it. Perhaps I should make a compilation sometime.

BONUS: Assplay

Here is a special "access all areas" teaser (so Connoisseurs also can get a glimpse of what they are missing).
I am, of course, trying to increase the popularity of assplay, as demonstrated here with Georgia Brown.

It seems to have an unpopular reputation, but perhaps it's because many people have misconceptions about what that really is.

In retrospect, we should probably have turned off the stereo during the performance 🤣

In case you didn't guess already, I'm joking,...
