Just friends

I have access to this bizarre room near my studio:
I’m located on an old airbase, and this washroom was where all the people working there would wash up before going to lunch.

Whenever I shoot, I try to create a connection.
I shot this during a location workshop in May with Wiana and Modeling with Louise.
I envisioned them as schoolgirls (the place has a communal feel) where one is coming on to the other.
And any scenario that will leave you with an association of anyth...

Photography is a funny thing.

Whenever I get an association, I keep working on that, but sometimes that initial moment is all you can get no matter how hard you try to recreate or improve.

This is one of those moments with Pretzelle.

I had the association of a flower, and I love this image.

But frankly, I tried remaking it and refining it for 10-15min and couldn’t get it to work.

I love this for the uniqueness, however.

Nude Lingerie

I don’t often shoot lingerie, but Modeling with Louise brought this skin-colored transparent set, and I was in love with it.

And besides (however much I hate to admit it) the influence of Instagram/Facebook with their idiotic guidelines - or lack of ability to judge by them, it can be beneficial to have some sets that are not fully nude.

And case in point:

Way back when (in 17+18 I made two 2-week trips around Utah, Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico with Roarie Yum, Sekaa Chavez, and Willa Prescott.

The goal was to produce my book Venus On Mars, juxtaposing the delicate feminine body against the deserts of the beautiful Southwest.

And obviously, I want to share this with you all.

I know many of you are photographers, and if so, you do want to give this a look; it teaches a very specific skill within art-nude photography namely getting natural light to work with the nude body.

Erotic bondage with Wiana

One of the most erotic shots I’ve done with Wiana model:

I tied her up in a very compromising position, and then let it rip from there. And then I did another set that took it to the next level.

Let me not muddy this up with any notes about technique; that is all clearly available in the 1-hour long Multicam Behind scenes video from the shoot.

Kiki in bed

These images of Kiki De Montparnasse (Milan) are not really my style. Possibly that is why it’s taken me so long to edit them.

“Bad Kitty” is all-natural light, and the more fashion-like image is2’ softbox placed as close to the lens as possible to give a ring-flash type light.

Defining feature

Lilith Etch was in Copenhagen and asked if I wanted to shoot something.

It was a spur-of-the-moment thing, and we didn’t have any plans, but she mentioned that she would like some bodyscape images.

I rarely shoot that, so I thought, why not?

One of Lilith’s unique features is that she is a true blonde:

As above, so below - like the scripture says ;)

So obviously, I wanted to focus on that.

I put her on some burlap fabric and crancked up the Fresnel spot...

Pastel dreams

I (allegedly) went to Valley of Fire with Kylie Le Beau last year, and we shot this set in one of the small slot canyons.

In the image with two pics, you can see the raw export from Lightroom (where I had already darkened things with masks) and the finished cleaned-up result from Photoshop.

One thing with the raw that annoyed me was the lack of a defined edge at the top right of the canyon opening.
So I made one.

Also, the model isn't light enough, as there wasn't enough...

Unstoppable Lila

Even though it was cold as F*ck and slightly rainy, that did not stop a woman like Lila. I think she likes when it’s hard and hurts a little, especially when the results are promising.

I shot all these at 800 ISO and just minutes before the (nowhere in sight) sunset.

Still, the results are not bad.

Kitten with Fangs

Kitten with fangs in a pastel wonder.

This image's exceptionally soft and muted tones are because it was shot before sunrise. In the video, you can see the effect the sun has even though it doesn’t strike the model.

I still placed her against a large rock to keep some direction in the light.

I still think her model name is one of the coolest around...

Lingerie vs. nude

I rarely agree to shoot a model if the main body of work will be clothing, but I had been chatting with Sara Lund for some years, so I made an exception.

We shot these back in ’16.

The second image illustrates why lingerie is often more sexy than nude.

The white room

As I touched upon earlier this month, I love new locations.

I haven’t shot much in baths and showers, so I gave it a try when I found myself where it was possible.

But it didn’t work to my satisfaction. I still like this image of Herodiade, however…
