Winford, Vincenzia, and Abernathy, like the gender-swapped Morgan family, share the same dynamics as their non-rule-63 counterparts. Maybe it’s a little different here. Where Winifred simply sees Abigail as a poor substitute for her mother, Winford may have a bit of jealousy. Without Abernathy, Winford would be for all intents and purposes the man of Pale Manor. How’s everybody liking the inking lately? I’m trying a new brush. For those of you familiar with Procreate, I had been using Ink Bleed for pretty much everything up until maybe last month. I’ve been using Tinderbox, which still has the rough edges that I like, but it’s easier to vary the line weight with pressure.

UN63RBURBS - Pale Family

The Winifred we know was never afraid to talk back to her father. Don’t think that Wilford Pale will pull any punches with his mother Vincenzia in the rule 63 reality. I really enjoyed designing Vincenzia and Abernathy. The former needed to be a businesswoman, but not simply an older version of Winifred. As for the latter, I never got to draw a true himbo before!

Happy Birbday

Yesterday was my friend Sera’s birbday so I drew her as birb. I’ve probably posted at least one human drawing of her on a previous March Fourth. I think I missed last year’s. I was probably preoccupied with some sort of looming, society-altering threat.

The difference between these two images is subtle, but I wisely sent the version that omitted the pencil layer. When you get to be the age of my circle of friends, you don’t care to know where your butt outline was.

This bothered me since the Wii U release of Super Mario 3D World. When Luigi gets a Super Leaf, he dons a fox suit (which I dubbed the Kitsooni Suit to match the goofy localized spelling of the Tanooki Suit). It seems like they did that just for kicks back in 3D Land. In 3D World, it works really well with the multiplayer aspect because it sets Mario and Luigi apart a bit more it they’re both rocking a Super Leaf.

I’ve been internally referring to Bowser Jr. as BoJu for the past couple weeks. I know the joke doesn’t work if his name is already Bowser Jr., so now my headcanon requires me to come up with his previous name. Perhaps he was the lost eighth Koopaling. Which celebrity would the 1990 localization team name him after? BoJu is a painter, so I’m going with Keith Haring. Keith Koopa has a good ring to it.
