I don’t normally give in to demands, but I have to say I was intrigued by this comment on the Pear-shaped Rosemary from a few days back. It doesn’t say an apple-shaped one, but rather the apple-shaped one. Like I’m gonna read that and think, “oh that old classic.” Here’s what I guess I think that means. See how I subverted expectations by making her wear red but have green apple skin? I’m a scamp!

Halftone Knights

Here's a nice scanned version of an alternate follow-up to the Knight ending of Angela's Magic Lesson. In this timeline, Angela does not find herself in a high-fantasy version of Underborough. Instead, she knights Winifred for some reason and instantly regrets it.

I'll have a color version when I have time, but for now I really wanted to play with the halftone brushes I just downloaded.

Unseasonably Cold

Yuki-onna TF for an upcoming Magic Lesson. I'm really happy with how the pattern on the kimono came out. Not too much trickery, I just did a gradient for the background color, did a 50% white along the hexagonal lines, then picked one solid light color for the snowflakes so they'd show up differently along the gradient.

Yuki-Ongela Mk II

A couple years ago, I scrawled out a quick sketch of Angela as a yuki-onna. It was a sort of consolation prize because I couldn’t find a way to fit this particular transformation into the Magic Lessons. Fast forward to right now, when nature found a way. Anyone who remembers that post may recall the snowflake pattern on Angela’s kimono. I’ll be adding those in photoshop.

I’ve been playing a bunch of Trials of Mana, aka Seiken Densetsu 3, aka Secret of Mana 2. I know there’s other stuff I should be doing, but this is a sequel I’ve been waiting to play for 24 years. Anyway, this is ToM’s Angela. She’s a princess and a caster, and if you want healing spells you’re just going to have to ask someone else.

Exorcised?

Shrine Maiden Angela successfully drove an evil spirit away! Was it supposed to be there? Doesn’t matter; it’s driven, period. Angela’s goofy pose from the sketch translated well, I think. Now it’s a much more detailed goofy pose.

Not too different from yesterday's post, but this is a good example of process. Compare with yesterday's to see the difference line weight makes! Also, I penciled some patterns on Geisha Angela's kimono and fan so I wouldn't have to draw them in Photoshop. I don't get the same sense of scale when I try adding details (other than color/shading) digitally.
