So I lost another pen brush cartridge today. Oonaji was special and worked real hard. I used it to make a drawing of ChipsgoWOAH! current animation project character. They're a samurai wolf and they look so cool. Since Chips pushed me to paint with watercolors I decided to make this for him. Please go check out their art. :>

I think I'm getting a better handle of faces now which is nice. I think her expression is my favorite part.

Just started with some figure studies and tried to keep things loose. Felt a little rusty from the few days I've been away from the brush pen waiting for the sketchbook but not too bad overall. Need to set some time aside to mess with water colors. My laziness is keeping me from setting up. lol

Color Study

I've been slow stepping on painting studies and finally decided to get on it today. Took an old brush, turned off color mixing and gave myself an hour to work on this. I decided not to color pick anything directly from the photograph and do my best to match what I saw. I think as always I inevitably gravitate to making things very saturated. Something I'd like to achieve is using color and values to really emphasize the focus of my pieces so I think it's important for me to grasp the delicate...

I really love when they're about to die. The dry brush just feels really nice to work with even it's a fleeting moment. I wonder if there's a way to control how much ink flows or if there's a brush pen with that capability?

Some sketch work from over the weekend. Some studies and notes on a painting I want to work on sometime soon. The redactyl is just guarding a commission I worked on that I can't show till Friday. I did today's study in ball point pen since I hadn't used it in a while. Think it turned out nice. I really like how the doodle of me came out. lol

New Dress

~Started out with a kiss how did it end up like this... I mean this started out as this weird Palutena drawing someone on Twitter requested but slowly morphed into a much more cute drawing of QD. I think this one definitely has an air of sexiness that I like for her. I always imaged her being this fashionista kind of bad bitch martial artist so the idea of her trying out a dress seemed nice. A different side of her I haven't really drawn.

I did a lot of studying and note taking today. Mostly regarding my own personal influences and devising what I'd like to do next. I wanted to finish the day drawing some sort of porn but ended up drawing this instead.

Some pages from the ol book last night. I was so damn happy with how all of these came out but especially enjoyed drawing the dude's face and "sugoi". Being able to crack the sketchbook open immediately when I think of something or see something I want to study is really nice and I wish I hadn't given that up years ago when I made the switch to digital in college. The turtle perfectly captures how I felt last night doing these. It's been like rediscovering drawing again honestly.

Comic-Pinwheel PG1

I doodled this page yesterday after designing this character and decided to draw it today. Some of you may remember Bato from some earlier archaic sketchbook uploads. Thought I'd use him for this since he was already designed.

Please let me know how you think this turned out. Black and white is something I'm not super familiar with and I'm not sure how I feel about the rendered look just yet.

I wanted to try some more free handing with the brush pen but noticed the top wasn't completely on it. When I started to draw it seemed really dry which I was excited to try out. I liked how much more control it gave me to sketch at the cost of a refined line. Once I was done with some doodles I remembered reading something about dipping it into water when this happens but I decided to check if there was any ink left. Turns out there was none. Lol

I decided that for today's traditional warmup I'd try drawing with the brush pen straight from  my brain. I was pretty confident I'd make something nice and I was right. I really like how she turned out.

I'm getting pretty good with the brush pen. At first I was really doubting if I could get the feel for it but I'm really enjoying using it now. Just a really quick way to sit down and draw. I really enjoy the results.

I may repost older pages sometimes cause I don't always remember what I've uploaded or there may be small updates to pages.
