I also cleaned up the establishing shot that will ALSO show up on the first page! i opted for this sorta, watered down, purply one, to push the focus over to the shop!
and i'm throwing in just the establishing shot in full color, along with the Alien graffiti i did for it!
possibly my nichest joke to date!
i'm usually not one to explain a joke, but if you're familiar with those "song title - slowed down & reversed" videos on Youtube, hopefully this will be a little more clear, hehe
I always felt it was important to show that Leo had a sort of "love at first sight" connection with Magna! it's not COMPLETELY love at first sight, but as a toon, i figured he'd have a sort of 6th sense about it!
it'll also contrast with Magna, who despite finding Leo appealing and silly, still needs to warm herself up a little bit to him before she gives into her feelings~
i try not to make my jokes TOO meta, but this seemed like a good excuse to try and draw their apartment in full detail/color!
may i NEVER have to do it again.
..'til the movie comes out, of course~

nope! i spent the weekend cleaning this bad boy up, so it's finally done! just a fun little side project~ it's good to animate a every once in a while so i don't get rusty!

i always enjoy turning an everyday problem into a little gag like this
mosquitos are such a pain this time of the year
so, i kinda forgot to add that little window under the counter in the previous pages! it's not a huge fix, but it's something i gotta go back and add!
other than that, everything's going pretty smooth! though i'd shift Randy's expression in the 3rd panel, to accommodate for Leo's glow! i think it's a cute little interaction
and as always, a few dialogues tweaks here and there~

Y'know, i actually made this comic without this full joke in mind.
the whole joke was just gonna be about Leo retrieving the ice cream from the back, but with a liiittle added subtext, the joke has more depth to it!
poor guy is nervous about meeting the girls!
he doesn't wanna embarrass his girlfriend
few expression changes here and there, but overall, this stayed pretty much the same!
removed the buttons on her phone since, they should technically be on the other side! for easy thumb access!
and i also added a very soft reflection on Randy's glasses when he's looking at the phone! a little Porker foreshadowing for those with a keen eye!
gotta add it to the first page too, since Leo is canonically also there to buy the same toy >;)
this one stayed pretty much the same as the sketch!
added some heavy sweating on Leo for extra nervousness! he was a bit more casual about in in the sketch, but given the situation, he SHOULD be nervous!
also the little heart beats in the last panel, plus the whole glow behind him weren't really planned, but that's the magic of art, baby!
..and once again, Randy's magazine needs a design added to it later
Don't you just HATE when you're taking in the warm, casual atmosphere of an old sitcom, and someone changes the channel and you're suddenly plunged into the reptile infested waters of a swamp?

reposting the second page along with it, because i added a light hint of pink to the last panels, to help it transition into the third page better!
first page stills need a little touch up, gotta design a street and some cosmetic stuff, like magazines and what not
but i won't do that until later, so i figured i'd post them for now like this, along side the second one. which is pretty much done! aside from, again, the magazine needing a tiny touch up later on
i'm also posting them side-by-side with their sketch page! Just to show how much these comics change going from sketch to the finished product!
Hey hey folks! So, i always try to have 5 full comic pages done before i post my progress report, but after chatting up with a few other artists, it seems MOST of them opt to post one page at a time, as they're finished.
So i think i shall start doing the same!

this is by far, my most "this joke might not land" comic to date
a bit of an "artist's problem" joke, but
he's a toon! so i figured it'd be funny
nothing like heading down to the nearest shore, setting up shop and just laze the afternoon away with your buds on hand
doing big group pieces like this are fun, but BOY do they take a while

I just thought this would be a fun gag that helps shows how different the two would look in a moer "realistic" style!
I think a lot of folks still don't quite understand that Leo is meant to be a living cartoon living in the real world, and how he very much stands out next to his girlfriend
