Status Update 4

Bad news and good news.

1) Bad news: I'm still working 50-hour-solid weeks.

So, Medusa Chapter 6 will be delayed a week. It's up to 16k and I could edit it and push it this Sunday as planned, but it's an important chapter and I want to expand it. Unfortunately doing that with my current work schedule isn't viable, so to make this chapter hit the quality standard I have to delay it a week. BLEH!

2) Good news: I'm quitting my job in July.

My Little Ventrue - Sexual Content Discussion

Status Update 3

POINT 1:  OVERTIME AAAAAAAAH. 

So my studio just started mandatory overtime (I'm a video game dev). As if working 40 hours solid a week, and writing 20 hours a week wasn't hard enough. This is why I want to quit so bad, and focus on writing. I can write 50+ hours a week and be damn happy doing it!

Future: Focus on sagas

MLV - Creating Antoinette - Discussion

The amount of feedback I got for MLV blew me away. Berserk - Discussion... again

So for this week, I have only 2 things to say, because it's all that's on my mind.

First, if you haven't actually read the Berserk manga, go do so. The original anime and the Golden Arc movies are great, but they don't do the manga justice. The new anime is garbage, and the games are all garbage story-wise. Read the manga. Just do it (if you can handle the extreme violence of it).  This is coming from a guy that generally hates manga and anime. Just do it!

Status Update 2

"An Inhuman Love Ch. 02" is coming along nicely. Mermaids are fun to work with! I have a lot of different versions to draw inspiration from, and there's something delightful about writing and describing colorful creatures, instead of the typical drab colors of skin.

The vote for "An Inhuman Love Ch. 03" will go up probably as I finish "Medusa Ch. 05." That'll give Tier3 Patrons at least 3 weeks to vote on the next chapter's monster.

Art 2 - Chimera

Chimera! This is the second cover I commissioned before I decided to go the Patreon route. This is without the Ani Novu writer alias, or book name.

Chimera was an interesting idea. I didn't want to write about the actual, normal Chimera, a lion with a goat head and snake tail. There's little to work there for character. But as I thought about it, I realized I wanted a giant in my story, and applying the Chimera as a 'primal template' onto a giant worked.

Berserk has my favorite romance story of all time.

OF ALL TIME.

A long, slow build, powerful story, emotional and dark and meaningful. The romance is a sub plot, but a very, VERY good one, so good it rides alongside the main plot. It is the gold standard I aim for when I try and write my darker, more powerful stories.

Woo, chapter 4!  18,250 words.

Lot of action in this chapter. Action scenes are tough to write! I can write dialogue, I can write sex, but to sink 15k+ words into an elaborate sequence of events? I'll need to practice that.

So things are on schedule to get Medusa Ch. 04 out by the end of Feb 11th. Lot of action, tough chapter to write.

So this has been an interesting experiment!

I decided to start off my Patreon efforts with 2 stories posted at the same time, Medusa and An Inhuman Love (AIL), and I've been monitoring the stats of the two stories since.

The pattern is clear. People are much quicker to even CLICK on AIL than Medusa. But the ones who click Medusa get much more invested. Percentages are the respective quantity measured against total views. You can see Medusa gets a higher percentage in every field.

Said Said Said - Discussion

Google something like 'using said in writing' or 'dialogue said' and you'll get a host of websites preaching about how you should be replacing the verb 'said' with as many possible variants as you can.
