I intended to simply do some warm-up art and fell in love with this random subject I was creating. This portrait isn’t perfect but it gives me an idea of her personality and mood. There’s a lot I can do with this character (and a lot SHE wants to do, for that matter...) so look for more pieces featuring this fun-loving good-girl-going-bad to come (no pun intended 😜)

At long last, the piece is complete. There were a lot more lighting and overall details to factor on this than I expected but I’m glad I tackled it. This is easily one of the best pieces I’ve done and I couldn’t be happier. I’m especially pleased with the girl lounging on the right side of the shot, a completely original creation for this piece. I love how her skin color and dual-color hair fade reacted to the lighting. Let me know what you think of it, and enjoy!

I am ecstatic with the way this has turned out. It’s easily one of the most detailed pieces I’ve done and it pays off big time. As always, I tried to think in terms of what could have happened off camera, so I did some photo research from Return of the Jedi for the two girls on the left while the one snuggled up on the right of Boba is 100% my own creation. More details to come, even beyond the obvious color and lighting. Fingers crossed, I will hopefully have the final piece done tomorro...

Tier 2 & 3 patrons can now view the completed line art for what I am calling “The VIP Suite in Jabba’s Palace“. Patrons will see unedited art across the board, and I am shooting for having the completed piece fully rendered and posted by tomorrow night so I can watch Mandalorian in peace 😅

Next up is a trip to Jabba’s Palace for an after-hours private party to celebrate Mandalorian season 2 and Boba Fett’s return! (apologies for the spoiler to the like three people left in the universe that didn’t hear that news). My intention here was to simultaneously conceptualize an elf character I’m developing for a comic (more on that in future posts) while practicing angles and anatomy for these steamy endeavors. I think the path from here to the First Fantasy piece I posted earlier is pretty obvious, but I also played with detail ideas for the character like the pointed ears, the leafy clothing and the facial expressions. It’s the piece I pulled my avatar from, so I figured what the hell. I did a lot of my initial color and lighting practice on this piece (the rough edges are obvious to me; you tell me what you think). This is also the very first piece I ever did messing around with gradients and I think it went a long way toward setting a nice atmosphere, especially in the on-her-back side of the piece. Personally, I enjoy seeing the process on these things, so I’m throwing the pencil work in here so you can see where I started. I used to hate manual inking and again the digital platform comes to the rescue for me. I’ve included the character line work again so those of you who care can compare 😊

Interestingly enough, this piece challenged me most when it came to the background. Thank God for digital platforms and the ease with which they allow you to move and shape Art where and how you want it. I lean on Procreate mostly, though I’ll use Photoshop for some additional elements like text graphics or atmosphere shifts.

My kick-off steamy piece!
