This was supposed to have been shared sooner, but wires were crossed, and it didn’t happen. Thought I’d share now.

Viva Chihuahua

This one is from the vaults!

I had just sewn this double circle skirt, and really needed to test its movement and flow.  I needed to see how the fabric would bunch together while in motion and at what point would it stop circling and drop back onto itself.  With something like this I hate to waste an opportunity, so I set up several cameras and danced like no one was looking.

Green Walk

It didn't rain today, so it was perfect weather for a walk in the woods! The trees have completely filled in with delightful bright green foliage!

Selfie in Three Parts, April 27th

A haiku:

Old dog sleeps, snoring.

Finding rabbits in his dreams.

I watch his paws twitch.

It rained again today. I don't think I saw the sun at all. It was the kind of day that even indoors, I wasn't sure if I was cold or just damp. To combat this, I wore a sweater and enjoyed a cup of tea as I puttered about the studio. the dog seemed indifferent to the damp and enjoyed naps as usual. As he slept, his feet began to twitch and he would lightly let out a lit...

Wednesday Walk

It's Wednesday, a great day for a walk! I mentioned in yesterday's Tuesday Update that I'd gone through all of the tier offerings available on Patreon just to further clarify what the perks are at each level.

The reason behind that is I got a bit of a complaint on an exit survey. I want everyone who is supporting me to feel like they're getting exactly what they've signed up for. But what has occurred to me is that perhaps my previous description of tier benefits was lacking. It was a b...

Self Portraiture in 3 parts

Two instant photos and a gestural drawing of skating.

I'd been unable to skate all weekend, so I was a bit worried that I'd lost some of my progress. But all's well! I'm beginning to wear a smile every time I get on the board, I can feel my skill level improving as my confidence increases. Today's accompanying haiku:

The wheels hit concrete

I stand up and move: heel, toe

I'm propelled through space!

Behind the Scenes: How I Selfie

This is my new tool.

While I've been snapping an instant picture almost daily for the past month, this camera has some great features that will allow for a variety of compositions. I'll tell you all about them, and show you how I use the camera for selfies!

Poetry Reading

I generally seek out poems that are light and uplifting. This one, however, is not.

It's called, "To the Unnamed Nun Who Burned Herself to Death on the Night of June 3, 1966" by Diane Di Prima.

It's from The Beat Book (poems & fiction from the beat generation).

Today's Gesture Drawing and Instant Pic

The self portrait work continues.

As a self portrait artist, I'm continually working in all ways "selfie". I suppose that it started some time ago with the convenience that I was always an available model for the work I desired to create. Now I see it as part documentary work, part sharing of the only experience I have of life: my own.

In the meantime, I hope you're doing well this week!

Behind the Scenes: Finding the Words

There's a big difference between a finished movie and the making of that movie. Here, a behind the scenes look at my effort in finding the right words, with commentary.

"Bronze" "Pepper"

This is a test.  I have always had a measure of trouble getting technology to work the way that it should.  This often includes video links.  I do want all of you that are supporting me to have access to the additional materials that I post here.  If you ever can't see something, please let me know and I will do my best to make sure that you can see what I'm making.  Here's a video of me laying out on a sunny day, not the most amazing thing that I've ever made, but if...

Topless in a tree 360!

I was moving some files around while working on my next Youtube video and I came across this!  I was experimenting with 360 filming and what it could do.  I also wanted to see how easy it was to edit and upload.  All of these things are more difficult than a standard movie, but not impossible.  I really liked the idea of sticking the camera outside of the tree and becoming invisible like a creature from a fantasy story.  Be sure to look around and take in the environm...

In Progress

As mentioned in this week's Tuesday Update, I've recently been inspired by some old-school packaging designs of candy . I have been working on a new piece featuring the Zagnut bar!

The Zagnut Candy Bar has a crunch peanut butter center surrounded by toasted coconut flakes.

It's been around since 1930, and the art looks like it harkens from another time. I really like the playful bright yellow letters surrounded by a bubbly border of blue and white on a field of red.&nb...

Today's Gesture Drawing (and Instant Pic)

It's a goofy looking drawing.

As I created this one, I found myself leaning slightly to look around my paper at my reflection. Normally, I would simply correct my posture, but this time I just went with it. When it was all said and done, I thought I'd double down on the goofiness!

I hope you're having a fantastic weekend!

Surf Skate Progress

Learning a new thing can be slow going.

I thought I'd film a few minutes of surf skate practice to share with you. Undoubtedly, I'll improve! But if I have no reference for a starting point, the progress will be less visible.
