BCC 42-40: Hi-Res Early Access

I feel like I subconsciously paired Nina and Amber together because of a kind of quirk of their designs... Nina's hair is pure black, so I don't have to render it when I do the colors. Meanwhile, Amber has freckles that I have to paint in on her every time... so Amber has extra details and Nina has less, so it kind of evens out in the end.

I think I rewrote that first panel like... 5 or 6 times. Mostly trying to make the dialogue feel natural despite Karen not being able to speak. When I planned this I intended for Karen to speak more clearly, but I forgot about that detail while drawing it and had to course correct, since it's easier to fix dialogue than art lol

One of the weird things about this chapter is figuring out the slang the characters would speak. I wanted the dialogue to still feel natural, so everyone speaks roughly in modern vernacular, but you get things where someone might have said "slut" replaced with "vixen"

I think I've mentioned before that Hyper By Degrees is, by design, not too story focused... each individual page kind of works as a standalone snippet of Lina and Emi's lives, but when read in order it does tell a story, this time about Emi feeling insecure now that she's in a school full of other Hyper-sized women.

Most of the characters in BCC shave their crotches, not necessarily for any story reasons, but mostly because it's faster to draw. But that wasn't really something barely anyone did in the 1920's, so even Bianca actually has some crotch hair during this story.
