Today, the final map has earned over 20 days of development, making it surpass Map02's record. I generally keep tracks of how many days I spend on making the maps, and this one is going to be the most hardcore out there for sure.

Phew, finally finished the base sprites/rotations. Time to animate them.

So one of the main things I've been investing a lot of effort into is "destroying" Map10 as much as possible. On one hand a destruction caused by the Cultist invasion, on the other hand various natural calamities (like earthquakes, lava surges etc.) that sort of inspire that unstable atmosphere the second part of the level will rely upon.

Phew, finally I can resume working on Map10.
I'm currently working on the environment's back story, namely simulating the Iron Divison's defense. Sure, I'm not aiming for it to be 100% realistically plausible, but a hint of context like makeshift defenses showing that the Orcs were taken by surprise, their defensive position and what they were attacked by, how many enemies have they killed before falling, and where did those enemies die and so on. Even how many spent mags and empty vial...

So this seems to be a publisher emerged from ModDB/IndieDB/Mod.io that promises to make it accessible to modders and indie devs to publish their games. The best part? They don't take away your IP rights and creative freedom.
It was kind of a no brainer to send them an email right away. I never wanted to collaborate with a publisher regarding Hedon for ownership reasons, but this seems like an interesting opportunity.

And finally, the last track from Alexander Brandon for the current chapter. Initially the fist piece of music made for Unreal, it was eventually extended but did not make it into the released game. A meaningful track, that I am honored to have given a home, moreso that it so well captures the atmosphere and world of Hedon.

I've experimented with some sector shadows. They look good for the most part but unfortunately I have to create them by hand, and since Hedon uses some complex stuff like the 3D tables and chairs, making shadows for those would be hell. Therefore, I will stick with hard light/shadows for areas that have a big contrast of light, and see how I can best keep things consistent.

The geometry and most of the scripts for the first part of Map10 are done! Man this was hardcore. Next I have to place the monsters and items and test/balance it out.
Map10 will be split into 3 parts, the last one being the boss fight.

RichterBelmont12 seems to be doing a let's play for the Hedon beta. This was an interesting opportunity to see how Hedon looks at it's worst, and oh boy now I get some people's complaints about the game being too dark and lacking contrast.
I've made a series of further adjustments to Map01, including a more readable light scheme (orange lights now point towards "civilisation" while blue ones point towards "wilderness/caves"), few more items to make the bland cave rock more readable in ...
