Alright, the voice acting part is coming to shape, and considering how many replies have I got regarding the Bear Warrior, I figured I might take advantage and add in two more friendly NPCs for this release: the Reaver and the Lancer. It's a whole new bunch of work to do, but it will have to be done eventually so why not go for it in Chapter I?

Alright, I'm talking to someone about voice acting Zan, still haven't gotten any reply for the other VA bits that I needed.
What sucks is that my PC's GPU turned out to have a faulty fan so I had to send it to be serviced, which means I won't have it around anytime soon. I went back to my old laptop, which is significantly weaker and I might dedicate the next week(s) to working on some sprites and other graphics needed for the final level.

Alright, so with the new friendly AI additions, Hedon needs a ton of new testing. I was thinking about heading for a somewhat open 0.9 beta release in which I post it on the ZDoom forums as well (to expand the tester and feedback base a bit). It's not exactly a full open beta, but something to help me further adjust the game. Patrons would still have first-hand access to the 1.0 release and new content to come, so no worries there. Alright, most of the job is done. And here comes a really awesome feature.
Much like in Brutal Doom, friendlies will be transported with you through (some) levels. Back when I was testing the waters and Hedon wasn't certain to exist, I decided to sprite a monster from scratch to see if I'm capable of doing this.

So here's another reason why I bothered to get Zan's sprites fully implemented - it's going to act as base for one of the Orcs, namely the Bear Warrior (well Zan is a Bear Warrior herself, so the outfit and main weapon is the same). I'm basically just redrawing the head and chest's back (to adjust it to the hood being on here), but it's still going to save me a lot of dead neurons. I still have custom adjustments to make for each of Zan's sprite, but this will take considerably less time.

Phew. Never thought I'd get to see them done.
So due to GZDoom's nature of handling crouching, I had to make some compromises and reduce the crouch-movement animation to a single set of sprites showing Zan unarmed. Same goes for the stationary ones, and if the player shoots a ranged weapon, the sprite will change to Zan and the Crushbow, but for Fist and Axe attack, the standing attack version will play instead (which kinda makes sense considering who the hell attacks in melee while...

The dreaded moment has arrived, I have to start doing Zan's crouch sprites. Crouching in GZDoom is a mess, and I'll have to improvise in a lot of places if I don't want to draw a crouch sprite set for each of Zan's normal/axe/fist animations.
Anyway, this is going to be an incredibly tedious process, so stay tuned for more crouch-related updates.

Geometry is done, will need to tackle the monsters, few more scripts, few new sounds and sprites and buy a new soundtrack from Alexander Brandon (I'll update the money goal once I'm done with this).
This map was meant to be longer initially but I decided to stop because it felt like it was needlessly dragging on for too long. We'll see how long it takes to complete it once it's done. Stay tuned!

Actually it's an old track, I think it was among the first few recorded and as I said on the Youtube vid description, it is a case in which the music has inspired a fair bit of the mood and atmosphere of the level design.
