May Madness song #4 has arrived: Hyrule Castle from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past!
Of all the remake songs this month, this one is probably the second most revamped (the most being Star Wolf). I've changed the song structure (now more like the original) and added an acoustic interlude and guitar solo (which wasn't in my 2010 version! What???).

Time for the next song! Here's the early download for Hyrule Castle from the SNES classic The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

I can't thank you all enough for all your support. I had predicted, and was really hoping, to reach this goal about halfway through the year and everything has gone as planned. I was teetering between doing this song and not doing this song for May Madness, but when I asked you all what song(s) you'd like to see come back, a lot of people mentioned the Koopa Bros, so that made the decision a lot easier. xD

Been working a lot on this one today, trying to have to it done before the day is over. I might have a preview of Those Who Fight up tomorrow if I have time after recording Koopa Bros video stuff.
The arrangement on this one is a lot different from my 2010 version. I'm looking at having some sort of soft acoustic break after this first play through, and before the guitar solo.

GaMetal - Unbreakable Determination (WAV)
Hey Patrons! Here's the early download for tomorrow's song, the act 4-2 theme from Ninja Gaiden.
I've decided to rename this song from Basilisk Mine Field to it's other name, Unbreakable Determination, since it makes more sense (I still say it should be Basilisk Mine Shaft), and is the more popular of the 2 names used to refer to this song... and it's a pretty cool name too, imo.

Star Wolf has returned to begin this year's May Madness!
My first Star Wolf cover was made way back in 2010, and was mostly influenced by the slowed down Star Fox Assault version, that eventually sped up into the 64 version towards the end.
This time around I went full blast into the high energy version. There are still a few nods to the Assault version, notably the descending scale at about 00:35 in the video, and the flange guitar line at around 1:12.

I was really happy with my original arrangement so out of the 5 remake songs, this one has changed the least, even the solo is pretty much the same. This one mostly just benefits from the sound/performance upgrade.

I raised this one back up to it's original key (I played the old 2010 version a half step lower), it sounds a bit more 'exciting' that way. Which is sort of the vibe I get from the Koopa Bros. It's more fitting.

Ken's Theme has arrived!
This was the runner up in the SNES Medley poll, losing in a sudden death round of voting to Fire Field. It's a song I've been wanting to do for quite a long time (my personal favorite SF song) and I figured it'd be a pretty great way to close out the month of April.
