Rome update got removed by Patreon.

I think it was because of the smut at the end. (It contained very QQ not nice things)

I will find a way to get it posted back up again. I just woke up.

Winter languished.

Atlas had never felt so low. Despite the city's lofty perch above the clouds, it seemed insignificant compared to everything that had transpired. After relinquishing her position as Heiress, she had thrown herself into her studies with relentless determination. Graduating from Atlas Academy with the highest honors it could bestow upon its top students, her next step was clear: enlist in the military.

She had imagined a future as a frontline officer, le...

"What the hell is taking them so long?" Varda, Ban of Croatia, muttered.

He and his party had been waiting on their side of the Danube for thirty minutes, yet the Romans still hadn't descended. His irritation grew with each passing moment.

"Maybe they want us to come to them?" one of his riders suggested.

Varda clicked his tongue in annoyance. "We already traveled half of Croatia to meet them, and now they want us to cross the damn river just to talk?" He gestured ...

The plains of Pannonia stretched as far as the eye could see. Grass swayed northwards, pushed by a steady wind. A fat marmot peeked out of its hiding hole, its nose twitching as it tested the air. No strange smells. Good. It climbed out, its fur fluffy and brown, and stood upright on its hind legs, basking in the cold air and sun. It cried out to its companions, who emerged one by one to join it. Yet, the fat marmot remained alert, ever watchful for hawks, wolves, or any predator th...

The duties of the Eparch were simple, on paper. The direction of the lawcourts, provisioning of the city, and the conduct of trade and industry. A Good Eparch ensured that the courts functioned without interference, the grain stores were full and the hoi polloi could eat, and the guilds wouldn't scream and yell for if that happened, trade would collapse. Fulfil all three, then the Queen of Cities carries on without issue. Fail to do so then the Queen of Cities tears off her proud an...

Ironwood sat silently and still. The ticking of the grandfather clock rang in his ears while the rumbling of airship engines echoed outside.

Geyer was gone. Judging by the bodies left behind, her party had sprung her out. It was right to think she would be sent there, but the woman wouldn't want to risk her home getting burned to the ground. If anything, she would be trying to leave. She was not gone, not completely. Her words echoed inside his mind.

"General Ironwood?" ...

The winds that swept across the plains carried a biting chill, but Andorjas felt nothing of it. His blood burned hot as he gripped his bow, his calloused fingers guiding an arrow into place. The distant rumble of hooves shook the earth, a thunder that grew louder with every moment. Shouts in Hungarian and German echoed through the cold air, the names of God and King Stephan rising carried in the air.

Andorjas glanced at his companions, their faces burned with defiance an...

Gregory Taronites, Domestikos of the West, sat atop the Bulgarian Throne, his sharp gaze sweeping over the assembly before him. They were tall men, dressed in the rugged fashion of the eastern nomads, their garb adorned with subtle hints of Western influence. At the head of their delegation stood a man with a nearly shaved head, save for a single braid trailing down his scalp. Long whiskers framed his hardened yet dignified face, lending him a sense of quiet authority.

"I brin...

Dimitar had been a farmer for as long as he could remember. His profession wasn't glamorous, like a cavalryman riding in the Tsar's armies or a courtier serving a powerful boyar. Yet, it was an honest, sturdy trade and one that had kept his family fed for generations. Everything he knew about farming was passed down by his father and grandfather. Wisdom rooted in the soil, like: Do not plant in a field twice, or it shall lose its fertility.

So when his boyar returned from the ...

I have arrived at Ohrid in Late Fall. Despite ideas that Macedonia is cold and wintry like the Lands of Varangians, it is not. The weather is cool and slightly damp, and even as I write, I see many families partaking in the cool waters of the place. Ohrid is not a city that just came out of nowhere but an inheritance upon an inheritance. The Bulgarians have maintained the city well and even built good Christian structures out of old places though echoes of the ancient world ling...

The Army of the West entered Ohrid, whose gates had been thrown open to welcome its new masters. The city, perched on the edge of a shimmering lake and surrounded by rolling hills, was a jewel of the Balkans. Its white-stone walls gleamed under the afternoon sun, and its red-tiled roofs stretched out toward the water, broken only by the spires of churches that rose above the clustered houses. Narrow cobblestone streets wound through the city, bustling with uneasy inhabitants who wat...

The thunder of hooves echoed in the air. The earth shook beneath the weight of hundreds of riders, all bearing down upon them. The villagers rushed for cover, fear gripping their hearts, as the village headsman rallied the men to arms. Helmets were donned, shields raised high, and spears pulled from weapon racks. In their minds, they knew they would die at the point of a Roman sword, but if their sacrifice meant their families could escape to safety, then it was a death worth meetin...

The cold bit at his skin despite the thick suit he wore. It was a phantom chill, one that crept under the layers and settled in his bones. He felt suffocated, as if an invisible rope tightened around his throat, while his eyes scanned the data cascading across his computer screen. It had all started innocuously enough: a single attack on one of their depots. At first, it was written off as the work of a bandit gang, opportunists taking advantage of the chaos. But then another depot ...

The sun warmed his face as he sat atop a jagged rock, overlooking the endless stretch of the coast. The South Eastern Sea lay before him, its waves shimmering under the afternoon light, rolling toward the shore in a rhythmic crash. Beyond the sea, just faintly visible on the horizon, lay Menagerie. According to some locals, on clear days, one might see its shadow.

Nerissa blinked, glancing to the faunus man who was standing still, his back turned, and his hands grasping something, a newspaper. Zoe sat glumly, nursing a cup filled with a strong, spiced drink, while Constantine worked at his desk. The room was over-lit with far too many lamps—an unnecessary expense, she noted, though the oils were of a quality typical of the provinces. Beside him stood his eunuch, a figure Zoe was certain was her father's creature, though she dared not say it aloud.

Once her safety for the night had been assured, Constantine turned his attention to his men and their feast. Apparentl...

Ironwood's eyes met hers, a mixture of frustration and resignation. His broad shoulders sagged slightly, and for a moment, he looked older than his years.

"How can they protect Jacques Schnee!?" she yelled, her voice sharp with disbelief.

Three figures stood by a map on a table.

"They just keep coming," he muttered, half to himself. "Thousands of the bastards. Do you know what that mea...

Constantine IX poll soft reboot

The poll is to determine if the patrons wish for a soft reboot, to have Constantine IX replace the actual eldest child, Eudokia, instead of Zoe Porphyrogenita.

Pros: We have two imouto's though Zoe is going to be the only one that will have any gooner content as she was historically freaky and Theodora remains a murderhobo. Better leeway character wise as well

Cons: No gooner content involving Zoe Porphyrogenita, we continue as is.

Poll shall close by sunday, 6th of Jul...

Another day at the Council. Another day of Jacques Schnee wringing the system dry, twisting it into knots, and making a mockery of the entire process. It had been four years since he had started his campaign.

Four years of hardship and endurance.

Four years of nothing happening.

Oh, there had been reports, cries for help from Greece, of Samuel's raids as far south as Thessaly, burning and pillaging as he went. But Basil had not moved his army. Not when the fortress-cities of what had been Moesia fell, one by one, to his methodical advance. Beroia, Ohrid, and so many others, now under the yoke of their true master...
