Death Maid chapter 2 Beta

Chapter Two

With winter near the end, it was time to clean the east parlor. The room's door opened with a creak. Too drafty to use during the winter months, the manor closed it, and Harmony was scheduled to help get it ready for use during the warmer seasons.

A thick layer of dust covered the room, glasses sat half empty, and a chair rested overturned. The parlor was for entertaining. With a strike table, darts, a bar, and even a small reading nook crammed into the large room, o...

Death Maid Chapter 1 Beta

I've finished a new draft and I'm editing now before getting it out to beta readers. I'm planning on releasing the first few chapters here for my patrons. I'm still thinking of a good title but would love suggestions.

Chapter One

Prince Adric died young and left a beautiful corpse. The details of his death were shrouded in mystery, but his prized pet, a rainbow feathered coatl, is said to have died with him, its feathery dragon-like body sharing his funeral bier...

Gaming Legends

(Another short story I'm retiring from the submission grinder cycle for awhile.)

Black Hole Games, where you go to play and never come out. The tagline would be cheesy if the internet didn’t claim to be true. On the bus ride to the city, It’d been a mistake to scroll through the poorly made fan sites and blog posts dedicated to the place. Haunted, alien outpost, serial killer’s base of operations, a drug house, the lack of agreement added to the mystery.

Instincts (Mermaid Short Story)

Instincts

By Kit Falbo

“Hey, Fatso.” Tony isn’t fat; it is just that the pressure differential is too low for his body in Reef city, so he cannot hold his shape. His family immigrated from the depths, and those mocking the boy lacked the appreciation that he could survive the abyssal zones that would crush them. Zae Darkwave hated that kind of ignorance, and with a mighty swing of her tail, she darted towards the group aiming to give them a piece of her mind.

What Zae ...

Mock cover.

I like doing these. I should re-write the first chapter some first. But sometimes I like to get my poor mans cover design action on.  I'm also terrible. Thoughts?

General Update

Rise of Chess is in the hands of beta readers.  Because there may be some revisions needed I'm hesitant to dig into the untitled book 3.  After some soul searching I've decided I want to do something with the Talos June book, aka Intelligence Block. No. not a sequel or a novella.

The title is bad. The cover is pretty, but not quite what I want. The first chapter, while it inspired the idea is peoples biggest complaint and doesn't mesh will with the rest of the book.

It's a me!

It’s-a me!

Eat a mushroom - grow up.

Eat a mushroom - grow up.

Eat a mushroom - grow up.

Keep searching for my mate.

Yet, they’re always at a different place.

Another world, to find my date

Eat a mushroom - grow up.

Eat a mushroom - grow up.

Eat a Mushroom - grow up.

Bullet and hammers come like a rain of showers.

Down, up, and forward; never behind, I race.

Find that sweet smell of red and gold flowers.

Jen stared into her black coffee like she was looking down a bottomless hole, refusing to look up and into Misha's eyes knowing that of she did do that she would feel like she'd slipped tumbling forward in a state of endless falling. They sat quetly say minutes until she finally spoke, "Tell me why you chose her over me." The voice came out hollow and distant.

"It's about the telling. You'd always tell me you loved me, while Lissa," Jen winced at hearing that name. "Has never...

Chess book 2 Chapter 1 (rough) In honor of my soon to be released Crafting of Chess Audiobook.

I  like to think everything is great because I’m the big winner. Stealing a victory out from all the other players noses. Then getting reunited with my mother after thinking she had died.  Now, I’m able to live a more normal life like I wanted. I force those thoughts, hoping they will hide the other ones.

The chess board is scooted a few inches across the desk closer to me, as though I haven’t noticed it there the whole time that I am in this meeting. ...

Novella beta preview- The Card Job

Chapter One

The Pinnacle of gaming technology, the singularity of the next generation of role-playing experience, with meaningful life-changing events around every corner, so real, reality pales in comparison. Trying his best to avoid all that, Hermanos Granger found himself sitting at a table in a dive bar that looked and felt like it blended every dive bar in every genre, playing cards.

He had his own take on the game, Changing Worlds. That the thing is, if everybod...

Unedited bit of old work that inspired my next novel.

The uniform didn't quite fit right, “Spitting image of grandad my ass.” Peter muttered to himself.

Haley, the metallic sphere size of a pool ball Floating just behind his shoulder  chripped in with a soft feminine tone “He was ten pounds lighter than you when he last wore that.”

“Just the confidence booster I need before doing this.” Peter surveyed the cheap motel he'd booked for the week, the type of place more known for illegal activities than l...
