Hi everyone,
Sorry for the late notice, but I'm moving tonight's 9pm live-write to 11pm EST instead so I can hurry home and eat before settling down to spin some words for y'all. I really hope to see you there!

I'm pretty sure this is the only comic in the world with a paraplegic Hulking cordyceps-werewolf battle nun. Accept no imitations, y'all!

I'm trying to think of some good art/taglines for a new Sister Claire ad campaign, but I'm having trouble! It's so hard to describe the comic in a nutshell! It's funny, it's queer, it's fantasy, it's horror. It's a medley!
Dear readers, what is YOUR fav thing about SC? And if you weren't yet reading, what would hook you? Please let me know!

This is one homage that probably won't ever be in the comic, lol.

I've got a long way to go, so I'm inking as fast as I can!
I lost a lot of time because our puppy got sick and started having diarrhea constantly. :'( We took her to the vet this morning and got her checked out and she's gonna be fine. We just gotta wait it out and give her some medicine and hopefully her poops (and my productivity!) will be back on schedule.

Bloody Mary has some really unusual proportions which take me some getting used to when drawing her in action. There are some doodles I did which I may or may not eventually clean up for use on a comic panel somewhere.

Here are some scrapped versions of the latest page. I thought I'd use the RBG displacement here, but it ended up making the composition look more muddy than I wanted. On the final version (which you can see on the site!) I opted to just go with a background gradient rather than add too many extra effects. Instant pop, less visual confusion!

Here's a little process gif of how I started tightening the sketch for the upcoming page. I went through a couple loose thumbnails (only one of which was included at the start of the gif... the rest were probably too loose to be recognizable by anyone but me!) and then I picked one I liked and kept tightening it up and adding detail. My main goal was to make a very dynamic composition... and the earlier sketches were just a little too flat and uninteresting. People have already seen ...

Here's the finished page, with text removed so you can better see the image. I think I tend to overdo it with way too many separate shading/highlight/effect layers, but that's why I store all the pages on Dropbox so they don't eat up all my HD space. :')
I added separate layers for little things like the green fog, a gradient in the sky, a glow on the statue, etc. You can view the finished page (WITH text!) here: 2016-08-05 17:45:13 +0000 UTC

I recently learned how to do this, and it's super easy! Useful for scenes that need an extra "OOMPH" of visual drama-- such a fight or a transformation, for example. Google will probably have better tutorials than I can make on it, but if you search "Photoshop RGB Split Effect" there are lots of Youtubers eager to teach you. This is the first time I've used it in the comic, but I'll likely be experimenting with it more in the future! ;)

I fixed a few errors I noticed along the way, like Marguerie's hands missing from her bag in the 3rd panel. (Oops!) After this, it's time to add lighting effects!

Here are the finished inks! I forgot to mention earlier, I draw all the sketching in Photoshop, and do the inks in Manga Studio, then I bring the inks back into Photoshop to color. Technically, I think I could do the entire process in Manga Studio... but I'm a slave to habit, and I know my way around Photoshop's shortcuts a lot better. :')
As I mentioned before, I often leave certain details to this stage, such as the hole in the wall (oops, I had forgotten to draw it in the sketch...

I forgot to post this last night as I finished it, but here is the detailed sketch! I usually sketch in two parts: the super loose thumbnail, and then this final sketch to iron out details. But even so, I often leave certain details until the inking stage. (Coming up next!)

I added a couple shadow layers, a highlight layer, a light source gradient layer, and a very super faint texture layer to unify the piece. Hope you liked seeing this process! What do you think? Should I do this more often? Let me know in the comments! (This page will be posted as soon as Ash finishes writing the accompanying prose!)And as always, thank you so much for your support. <3

For the past several updates I've changed the MM style a little. Instead of outlining each shape in a different color (SUPER time consuming!) I instead draw it all with a warm brown and then add colors with a "multiply" setting in Photoshop. The colors all look unified, and it's a lot less time wasted.
