I was created to be a sacrifice to the world, and anytime I tried to take something for myself, the world punished me. My life started on a farm where I worked myself to the bone for my father and sister. All because I had a special talent. Anything I cultivated could miraculously make anyone stronger, faster, or heal horrible injuries. But not me; nothing I made could benefit me in any way. The only way I could improve myself was through hard work.
The day my world changed started like...

The team didn’t lead me to Tarrlok’s office; instead, they led me to a series of posts with people tied to them. Young men of all ages were tied to whipping posts while a team of men in unified forces armor pulled a whip out of a brine pool. I could smell the salt and knew the whip would sting everyone else. My flesh wasn’t so easily damaged, but that didn’t stop them from kicking the back of my legs. I let myself fall, and Mako pushed me forward, intent on slamming my head into the p...

Korra’s room had become our room, and Tenzin hadn’t said a word against us sleeping in the same room yet. So, while Korra continued her air bending training, I had my own work to do. I sat on her bed and formed every tier 1 spell I knew one after the other dissipating them each time. The book I held in my other hand had been covered in stars and pretentiously droned on about the importance of cosmic awareness. It mentioned powerful and cancerous entities in seemingly benign universes held...

No sane person would practice magic. I glared at the tier 0 spell with cracks, rolls, and chips along its edges and a major fractures leading up its spine. A raw nerve connected me to the spell falling apart in my hand, and taizered my nerves with every crack. The second I tried to add the next symbols, it exploded into shards of wasted mana. My legs lost their strength, and I fell on my face, shook, and slowly curled up into a ball. I hoped I was doing something wrong if not, I couldn’t im...

“Good evening, gentlemen; I hope the show those madmen put on hasn’t ruined your evening. Though I’m surprised, you didn’t kill them yourself after what you did to the werewolf.” The man said.
The vampire seemed hesitant to reach through the window to rip Blue out and use him as a hostage. Blue continued to dutifully squat, and by my count, he should be near 100. After that, he had to do 100 pushups and run 1km. If he could do that, he would be right where I started; if not, h...

On my return, the first thing I did was check the calendar on my phone to see how long I had been gone in Earth time. 7 days had passed, and all the missed calls from work appeared on my phone. I was probably fired. Getting another job like I had probably wouldn’t be a good idea. I could be gone months and come back only for decades later. My mother and father could die, never knowing where I went. If I was going to keep doing this, I needed to be careful.
Outside it was still mid-Apr...

Walking into a boss battle unprepared wasn’t my cup of tea. Of the three challenges I’ve received so far, one had been conditioning, another had been a boss battle, and the latest one had been a duel. With that in mind, I knew my last fight in the prehistory world had to be an even greater battle. I took that to heart while I swallowed my pills and fucked Samael and Elorael. My next fight would be against a tribe of warriors equal to Samael except with shields and the skull god. There was...

Drums pounded and elves sang in the stands of a theatre lovingly named the dueling grounds. On a circular platform high in the massive tree that housed the forest elf village, preparations for the duel were underway. Elves of all ages waited in the stands while the most promising warriors beat upon drums surrounded by lit torches and burning incense sticks. The twin suns gazed down like two great eyes bathing the dueling arena with their powerful sweat inducing rays. Now that the even I’ve ...

From my experience, the difference between learning breathing techniques and constant was analogous with cars. If pre-constant sea god breathing was like driving an old Ford pickup, then constant was a hypothetical self-driving nuclear car that could run for a thousand years. I needed a start-up time to even use breathing techniques that disadvantaged me against constant users. Going from consciously using the breathing technique to constant was different enough to give me whiplash. The feeli...

A splash of water woke me up from an exciting dream involving Elorael to an early morning in the forest. The sound of croaking frogs in the early morning echoed throughout the tribe like an alarm clock. Elves moved about their business; some young ones were escorted by older elves, while some left their homes alone. Falcons flew between buildings snatching up food scraps as they were tossed out. A few elves sang songs about getting up or working in their own musical choruses while doing their...

Thank You to My Earthly Patrons: Michael Whitmer
Thank you to my Multiversal Patrons: Nightrise
The elves tied my hands in vine rope and led me behind them like a prisoner while Elorael walked behind me on Samael’s arm. Through twisting forest paths, I was taken from the forest's edge to the depths where a city of treehouses took shape.
My shoes were in ruins, my teeth were gone, and my clothes were in tatters. When I closed my mouth, noth...

After a long-drawn-out sip of an aging potion, I was ready. My body aged 8 years in a few minutes, stopping at 18. My hair lengthened down to my shoulders, and soon, I stood just over 6ft tall. The softness of youth vanished, giving way to lean muscle and a strong jaw. Even my eyes seemed to glow a little greener.
Great wings flapped, and powerful talons rested on either shoulder while Cinder’s soft down pressed against my face. Something soft and tight pressed against my lips. An urg...

Wooden spears pressed against my back, archers waited mid-range, and the elf answer to wizards waited in the wings. High columns of thick tree limbs formed our path while wooden statues of elven lords and high council members lined my path. In front of me, beyond the seemingly endless mass of wooden statues, were a set of stone steps leading up through the canopy to the wealthier side of elvish society. That’s where the rich elves lived with their tans, darker hair, and wind magic. Fire-ali...

Elven women were slender, but they had curves where it counted. They came in blonde, brown, and black with eyes a bit larger than humans and slightly triangular skulls. Each had a beauty of their own in angular faces and aristocratic noses. Some had exotic irises of bright amethyst, almost glowing greens, and deep dark blues. Their breasts were round enough and almost a handful though their nipples were inverted by design. It made finding their nipples more exciting. Finally, the elven cunny ...

I tumbled out of my flesh and fell into disorientation as I struggled against the world’s attempt to force me to pass on. The ground and sky spun as I ricocheted without rhyme or reason. Nothing was keeping me in this world other than my own will, and I felt that was shaky enough. For a moment, I was tempted to possess enough rock to make a golem body. After a few centuries, it would seem quite human. But I settled on something nearby instead.
A male body struggled against my control ...

The screaming starship crept closer through the edge of nothingness, nearing my spirit vessel and Harry Potter. The boy grabbed his head and cried out as the screams echoed off nothing. It was a thing of hate and despair born of pain and an endless continuation. There were so many of them, billions or more a nation unto themselves. I licked my lips as I felt the source of qi approach with abandon, unaware of how tempting it truly was. Perhaps the reaper thought it could indoctrinate me. Harry...

I drifted in a black expanse filled with endless stars distant and forever out of reach. They were like dreams; by the time their light reached me, they had already burned out. More stars than I’ve seen on earth hovered in the sky like jewels and gold waiting to be plucked from the sky. But, unfortunately, it was fool’s gold. Those stars were dead, and the only ones I would ever hold in my hand were of my own making.
Seeing those stars and knowing my own thoughts, I felt that I must...

I slept against Iris’s smooth flat stomach. Last night all I could hear were the screams and pleas of dying elves as they slowly digested in Iris’s gut. Brunnera’s leg trapped my legs in place while the distant squeals of panicking pigs slowly woke me up. The last elf died of suffocation, if not slow digestion, somewhere around midnight. I felt like a guest in the giant home while the pets were treated more like snacks. Just to the left of the bed was the elven village or what was left ...

Over hills and through valleys, Brunnera moved at a relaxed jog, crossing paths only a giant child would dare. As we traveled, I felt my body grow lighter until the icy peak of her home came into view, and Brunnera transformed her jog into a ground-shaking sprint. As she moved, the bag containing flash-frozen moose and myself bounced. Instead of losing my lunch, I turned away from her home of ice and stone for a more scenic view. Like riding passenger side in a safari, I looked from the safet...

Cinder flipped through the channels as I shortened my build time for my gauss rifle. Transfiguration worked well enough even with my oak and dragon heartstring wand. The silly stick of wood felt odd in my hand, and it tried to fight back every step of the way. Magic was something I could do but not well compared to cultivation.
“Young men refuse to work low paying jobs as more join academia to become engineers, doctors, and scientists at unprecedented rates.” She flipped to another ...

It was two in the morning, and I took some time to have a cup of tea while two wizards struggled to hook up 7 magically constructed capacitors to the transfigured frame. Nordic runes covered the piece turned 180 degrees to insulate the weapon. Sweat beaded down the wizard's pale faces as they worked to levitate the frame and attach the capacitors one by one. A conjured plastic barrel wrapped in copper wire gently into place a tiny but powerful battery made of enchanted stone fed power through...

I turned a page in my potions text when a change in scenery distracted me. The 10th and final juvenile school appeared out the window as we turned down a bumpy, poorly kept road. Grey walls and barred windows framed the place as what it was, a placeholder for prison. Once the children here were of age, they would undoubtedly become lost within the penal system. So what I planned to do to them was not only mercy but a gift. Though this was my 10thcorrectional facility today, I’ve been to man...

Golden clocks appeared and vanished around Tom, spinning their hands before cracking. With the clocks came an aura that surrounded the wizard with far more potency than I was used to. His brown eyes flashed red and back to dark brown. Even the dark brown hair on the man’s head flashed gold for a few seconds.
“So, you have some Saiyan heritage? Maybe I should treat you seriously after all.” I said.
While the wizard’s hair didn’t turn spiky and gold, I was sure it was only...

It happened all the time I learned new information, and plans changed. So when I saw a man in his early 20s sitting in a soft leather chair drinking tea provided by Nimrod with enough power to wipe out a city, my plans shifted. Raw emotion poured off the man riding the waves of his power. There was enough hate, fear, and envy rolling off the man to curdle milk. People ruled by their emotions were easy to manipulate. Yet, his paradoxical calm appearance spoke of incredible competence, and sudd...

All the rods were in place, and my test subject hadn’t bled out, yet which was a good sign. Sometimes it’s the little things in life that we are the most thankful for. For example, Jacob Nimrod, the necromancer who enjoyed sacrificing little boys to demons, lay exhausted on his own ritual table. I drilled four rods formed from metal and light qi covered in formations into the man’s arms and legs. Sweat, tears, and snot covered the man’s face, and he looked like he could pass out any s...

When I lined the first rod up just behind his elbow, the necromancer shifted to get free of the point. I waited for him to stop, but he refused; every time I lined up the rod, he moved just enough to ruin my aim. As frustrating as that was, Cinder's trills of hypnosis were getting on my nerves. The sounds felt like chewing aluminum foil. Jim froze, clearly caught up in the hallucination while the necromancer thrashed.
“I’m sorry, I thought that would work.” Cinder said.
