These three bits of paper are me figuring out how to get a character to run from one side of a panned layout to the other.
I wonder if anyone sells " • - • " animation paper, or if I just have to make several pages myself by sticking and cutting "- • -" paper together.

I was reading up on how layouts work 'cause that's the one bit that still really confuses me, and also because I'm beginning to incorporate traditional animation more and more into my cartoons.

Here's a drawing that didn't make it into the final cartoon. The problem with straight ahead animation is that it's easy to draw yourself into a corner, so often I end up having to scrap some drawings and restart from where I left off again. Also there's a potential sequel idea doodle on the top right.

Here's the final result of those previous bits and bobs I've posted here. Thank you everyone, and have a merry Christmas!

Decided to go all out scribbly and straight ahead for this scene just to see how the stream of consciousness would turn out. The perspective changes and such weren't even in the storyboard. Fun stuff to try!

Not entirely convinced by the perspective of this drawing, but should do the job!

Another case of the scene looking a lot simpler to animate from the storyboard than when animating. I'll invest in a better webcam for pencil testing one day!

I always like to do the first scene I animate from start to finish just to check if there will be any complications along the way. Seems to be alright with the anamorphic lens and such, so I'll get to animating the other scenes. The sounds aren't mixed at the moment, just the scratch track from the animatic.

It gets a little hard to read at points. This is just how I get a quick grasp of what the scene I'm animating's like in motion, with a old webcam and MonkeyJam.

I'm going to take the challenge of rushing a 1 minute Christmas short out. I wonder if it can be done? It's being done the Bob Godfrey way, with paper and the odd cutout since that's how you give limited animation character. Also because I need more practice with the systems of traditional animation before going into a proper full-lush production (i.e. Starfox)

Further playing about with Reaper. Not been very musical for a while now, but I'm having fun with Reaper's mixer and such. Seems more logical than FL Studio even if it's quite different. The fundamentals of mastering and how audio works never changes though (which I've also got to learn more).

I like animation nonsense that doesn't mimic life but still has a sense of solidity. Here's an example of nonsense, with the snout entering the frame long before the rest of the character.
Not many posts lately sorry, part-time job gradually seeping into full-time, piano exam looming. Many dreary yet adamant distractions inviting themselves in, much like this cartoon fox. Got a couple more Stylophone related videos on the way, this time commissioned by Dubreq, so I'm happy they enjoyed that fi...

More playing about with sounds.
First one is the Jasper kit synth plugged into a guitar amp facing the piano strings to create a reverberant electricity spark sound. Processed with an Aphex Exciter and Jacob Rothman's compressor, it sounds a lot harsher (and has some added noise sadly). All these sounds have had similar treatment.
The next sound is my sister shaking a smoothie in a jar, slowed down. The Exciter added some artificial high frequencies to give it some definition.
The ...

During the final rush to get shots done before the holiday, I ended up doing a storyboard and just ticking off all the shots as I did them. Here's a page.

As per usual, given the opportunity to do this meant I put all I got into it and totally knackered myself and was almost 3 months past the deadline, but it's done! Not done the thumbnail, end cards, or description yet but I'll get to them. You'll see one of the Mama Luigi Reanimate scenes being animated here.
Also, any bugger-ups?

Was in another sound designy mood, so mucked about with recordings of sinks, bubbles and Dandelion and Burdock to bring forth this racket.
Also handy practice with Reaper.

There's one bit in this song https://youtu.be/4Eea1i9KqHU?t=2m9s that I liked so much I had to extend it. There's the Stylophone Gen X-1 in here doing daft ditties and bleeps.

The thing I like most about this synth is how it sounds like nothing today, but more like an experimental early synth from the early 60's. The thing I like least is that it wasn't released 10 years ago because prepubescent me would have been ecstatic had this been a birthday present. Seriously, all there was then was Casiotones and you would have to really shell out for a synth you could make your own noises on.
FYI This isn't a paid endorsement video, I just really enjoyed this lit...

Compilation of recently made sound effects. I just stockpile these things hoping they'll be useful some point in the future.
I can recall recording filing some wood, peeling sellotape, some plaster demolition, an MS-10, then processed using a custom-built compressor and Boss RPS-10. At the start was a tape-loop from the Wam Copicat. I also did this to practice using Reaper which I think I shall use for sound editing for films and such.

Thought I'd sample the sample of 'If I Saw You Again' and put it to a Hip-hop beat. The bass is a bit messy but I can sort that out another day.
Used a Technics SX-U90, Early Learning Centre tambourine, lemon shaker, and a tin with grains in it
