Alpha 2.1 Release Info

Some Info for the release of the second alpha! :)

Release Date: Feb 25th

Levels: (1-3 additional levels)

Level 119 (Average Waterpark)

Level 2 (Pipe Dreams) - 40% chance to make it in.

Level 69 (Infinite Highway) - 80% chance to make it in.

In addition, if enough bugs are found in the current 1.2 Alpha there will be a second patch. If not all changes/bug fixes will be rolled over to the 2.1 Release.

Alpha 2.1 | Modeling Suspended Walkway

These are some suspended walkways modeled for the intro of the next Alpha level. From Blender to UE5 and Texturing! Used as little polygons and possible for these becuse of how many are going to be in the scene, but texturing can really bring out some detail!

Alpha 1.2 Release Notes

Here is a full list of the Additions, Changes, and Bug Fixes for the Alpha v1.2:

• Added new entrance. 

• Added new room in light maze section. 

• Added ambient sound for all lights. 

• Fixed flashlight bug for AMD Card users. (*exception at bottom of page)

• Flashlight mechanic revamped.

• Fixed inconsistent water footstep sound.

1.2 Patch update

Getting to a bunch of bugs today with the 1.1 Alpha. Water sound effects, texture and map alignment fixes and also new water caustics, slight waves, and slightly diffrent distance fade. This (above) is one of the water planes thats getting reworked:)

Subliminal Alpha v1.1

After a long wait here is the first official alpha for Subliminal!!!

**Note: For everyone with anything below an RTX 3070, I recommend playing with your monitor set to a resolution at or below 1440p. Resolution makes a big difference in performance with Lumen.

**Settings Bug: The resolution changer in settings seems not to be working atm. (this will be fixed in a patch soon)

Alpha Size Update

Through some optimizations and being able to keep almost all unused level assets out of the build, the Alpha has been shrunk down to only 6gb! Don't worry, nothing has been taken out of the actual playable alpha😁 Hopefully this helps some people with storage!

Important Alpha Update**

The alpha is currently having some file transfer issues. 

Subliminal Alpha Version 1.1 is currently done, packaged, and ready for testing but running into some issues with the size the file transfer method for the amount of downloads that are expected. (Over 30TB total transfer at this point). To keep any servers from crashing and to make sure everyone can seamlessly download the file without any restrictions, the release will have to be delayed until tomarrow, January 26th at 10pm...

The first part of the alpha is set to release Tomorrow, January 25th at 11pm PST. 

Alpha Plan details:

The alpha will be coming out in Segments, with each Part(segment) having 1 - 2 Levels in it for testing.

After each part is released there will be a time after it (1-3 weeks) where all the Feedback and Suggestions for the level/s will be focused and worked on.

Alpha Delay

Yes. Unfortunately, the Alpha will have a slight delay in release. I apologize for the delay and late announcement. There are currently some Lighting bugs that need to be worked out before release that should take a couple of days to fully patch. The bug involves some Global Illumination and reflection issues working together that affect some puzzles in the first part of the alpha. Notes on Alpha Quality

A couple quick notes on quality settings for the upcoming Alpha:

• There will be a performance mode for Lumen aimed at giving low end cards (below a gtx 1060) a good boost in frames with the help of baked lighting. But at the moment this might be quite buggy for the alpha release and have a decent amount of artifacts.

Here are the current settings that will adjustable for the Alpha:

Resolution: 720p, 1080p, 1440p, 2160p (big performance impact)

SuperSampling: 50%, 75%, 82%, 100% (works like DLSS and upscales from a lower resolution. Lower percentage boosts performance)

Lumen Quality: Low, High, Very high (considerable performance impact, makes lighting smoother and less splotchy)

The alpha will be fairly optimized, but with it being an alpha there are bound to be improvements coming. With that said here are the estimated framerates for the currently tested graphics cards:

All estimates are on Very High graphics settings (same as in trailer).

GTX 1060 @1080p : 40-60 fps (consistent)

RTX 3060ti @1080p : 80-100 fps (consistent)

Alpha Content Poll

Timeline updates

Because of some optimizations, lighting bugs and level transition problems the timeline of releases for the Alpha and Beta has changed a bit.

Discord Moderation

I'm wanting to get more structure and efficiency to the discord server in the next couple days and I'm looking to add some moderators to help with that.

Moderation would entail things like answering and moderating questions, creating and moderating new channels like an FAQ, keeping current channels in check, fixing any errors in design, suggesting any design ideas or ideas in general for the server you have and helping carry them out if they are picked, and more.
