Sometimes I get pretty far along on a piece before changing my mind and going in a completely different direction. Case in point, the cover to issue #2 of the first Far West mini series. At the time I was very new to the field, so I was using a technique I would never use today, which involved painting on a xerox copy of the inks. (I would later learn that this wasn't necessary, which is why the cover to #4 suddenly looks so much better than the first three iss...

A word about my comments last time: If Boneyard were a comic like, say, Fire & Brimstone , canon wouldn't matter. (I don't even like using the word "canon", it sounds so fanboyish...not to mention pretentious) Fire and Brim' started out in an adult short, and it's a safe bet that Fire has gotten her cherubic partner into more than a few libidinous adventures. But Boneya...

I think this is another piece that already ran on Facebook, but screw it. Happy New Year, everyone! Thanks for all the support this past year. I hope you're enjoying what I've been posting, 'cuz I got lots more in store for 2019 (then I'm going to kill myself, right before the 2020 elections).

This may seem like an odd question, but I've noticed the popularity of some creators who focus on pinups and paintings, rather than sequential storytelling. Obviously, doing only images allows for more time spent on them, hence better quality, whereas with sequential work the images aren't as elaborate, but you have the story element. So which do you prefer?

Here's page two of the adult Boneyard "volleyball short". It looks like it's going to be the ladies who make the first move. How's that for equality? (And by the way, it may go without saying that this story is not canon. There will be some adult shorts that actually do fit within the canon of their respective titles, but this one is pure fantasy. I'll be sure to make it clear when "real" ones are posted.)

I had planned to draw something special just for patrons for Christmas, but unfortunately I had two cats get very sick at almost the same time a few weeks ago. That has meant devoting all my time to commissions to pay vet bills, so no new special Christmas piece. One of the commissions was actually Christmas-themed, but my scanner is a piece of crap and I don't have time to clean up a scan of the piece to get it post-ready. So I'm offering this, even though it has been seen on my Facebook pag...

Okay, don't get too excited. This is the first page of a commissioned adult Boneyard short, but being the first page, it's just setup. If you're familiar with my adult work, you know I like to start with a little story and character before the main event. Without those elements, the sex is just...sex. I mean, that's still pretty good, but it can be more. Fortunately, the longtime commissioner of this six-page short was willing to indulge me.

Meg's turn at possible T-shirt fame, this time. Would've been cool with sunset lighting, with the shirt (the one it would be printed on, not Meg's) and tree silhouette in purple or lavender, suggesting dusk.

Years ago, I created a horror-action-comedy comic series tentatively titled Scream Queens. (After the TV series of the same name came out, I decided I should probably change the title, and went through quite a few options, including Moonlighters, Live Dead Girls, Graveyard Chicks, and Extreme Violets. But I always come back to

Commissioners often want to get the most bang for their buck, and this piece delivers in an interesting way. It uses inset panels to form a kind of collage depicting Paris and Abbey's relationship. What I like is the inclusion of non-sexual moments, giving a more complete and well-rounded sense of their relationship than one might expect.

I only got a scanner (such as it is) a few years ago, so the only "scans" I have of much of my older work are copies I made at the local Kinko's. Most of those are lost to time (and my utter inability to organize). I came across this in an old issue of Milk! , from Radio Comix. I cleaned it up as best I can, but with my clunky old equipment there's nothing I can do about the "seam" between the two pages. I thought you might enjoy it a...

In her very long life, Abbey has done about everything you can think of, including captain a pirate ship. A few years ago, I wrote a miniseries called Sea Dogs, in which Abbey and her crew (well, mostly Abbey) have it out with a seafaring clan of werewolves. One more in the massive pile of projects I'll likely never get to. It has a mermaid in it, too!

Here we are, at the 4th and final page of the princess' encounter with the gillmen. And fittingly, it's a splash page. I would normally have some sort of visual punchline to the end of a M'Lady short, or at least more of a sense of conclusion, but commissioned shorts have unique restrictions and requirements. Which reminds me--a few years back I came across an adult short of Abbey and Michael going at it, done by another artist. A com...

Okay, I've been sitting on this because it's pure cringe, but I've decided to go ahead and post it since it technically is content. Just bear in mind, I don't look like this. To quote my wife after seeing the interview, "You look weird in that." But we can play a fun game: I have dystonia thanks to a medication I'm on, so you get points if you can tell where I'm (literally) struggling to get my mout...

Just another image I had considered as a T-shirt design. Kind of different for a Deja Vu pose, in that she's not on her broom, and her costume is closer to what most would expect for a witch. (As I look at it now, I'm noticing that her feet are bare--Jose, was this one of your pieces?) If I had designed Deja like this from the start, I might have pleased a certain segment of comic readers who occasionally complained that titles like Deja Vu and Boneyard weren't "very Goth". And they had a poi...

Marna learns that she's caught in the middle of a magic feud...and Marna doesn't like magic to begin with. If only she knew the clusterfuck magic is about to make of her life.
And a fun side note for anyone who read Gobs : Annabelle is half-gob (goblin). Marna is friends with her anyway.

Page three of the (improvised?) short brings us to the commission that started it all. I'm always curious about people's choices in commissions. Why this character with that character? Why this sex act or that position? And are you sure you want that much bukkake? (See, that's me being classy, avoiding crude terms like cum or spooge or baby batter.) Ogres, centaurs, trolls, the usual fantasy creatures, sure, but I never expected gillmen. But then, this is coming from t...

Realizing that the first panels of this page make no sense unless you remember that the last time we saw Marna a pig blew up in her face, I had a thought. When I post a new page in an ongoing story, just appear in should I post the previous page or two below it, in the same post? (When making a post, there is the option of including additional pages below; they just appear in a smaller window, with scrolling bars.) It would make it easier to follow the stories, get jokes, etc. Let me know if ...

I think it was in my first adult collection, Horny Tails (a title I did not come up with), that a bunch of M'Lady pinups appeared, under the heading, "M'Lady & Kin". This heading was also not my idea--nor was butchering the original pages by slapping the text on them in the form of non-removable, adhesive-backed labels, something the publisher did without my prior knowledge. I ca...

Hey everyone. I wanted to say thanks to all of you for your support--and not only because I just found out that it's Patron's Day or something, and I just managed to get in under the wire as the clock ticks toward midnight. Aside from the financial support, the feedback has meant a lot as well. I'm pretty isolated, and don't really know anyone who's interested in art, mine or otherwise, so knowing that other human beings are seeing and enjoying my work means more to...

This one's for Jose. I was cleaning up a gazillion images for posting when I came across this one. Sorry for the poor quality of the image. I should explain: Quite awhile back, before I had a scanner, I turned over a bunch of pages to someone who was going to scan them for my files before selling them. Unfortunately, his scanner was...well, cruddy. This is a cleaned up version of the best of them, believe it or not. Most are considerably worse, with defects I can't ...

Some unexpected good news! If you recall, I had mentioned that I was having trouble getting scans of some of my gray toned work for uploading because I no longer have the originals, and my scanner is inadequate for scanning from printed pages. Well, out of the blue, our own Robert Messick--who also came up with those old Boneyard and Far West ads--contacted me and provided me with the scans needed to post the Boneyard 1-shot, "The Bigenning". It's up on Comic Fury now, for those interested: <...

Here's the first page of an adult short with an interesting history. I was commissioned to do a pinup of the princess from M'Lady (a silent comic featuring the antics of a libidinous princess and her faithful pet dragon, for those unfamiliar) getting double-penetrated by two gillmen. The commissioner was pleased enough that he asked me to come up with a story to frame the pinup, turning it essentially into a splash page in a larger short. The story is succinct, ge...

I keep forgetting that I said I would post some images I thought might be good as T-shirt designs, or at least be adaptable for that. So I thought I should actually start posting some. Here's the first. Do you think they should include the title? I kind of like that people would have to ask what the picture's from, and maybe start a conversation.

This piece wasn't originally intended to contain nudity, but every time I tried drawing Meg's bone vest on her in this position, with gravity pulling it down, it made her look pregnant. Just the thought of Meg as a mother is horrifying, so I figured maybe her vest got ripped off while they were taking down this mountain giant, and I just drew her topless. As creative decisions go, I think they look pretty hot. (By the way, did you know that, as part of her character...
