Deja Vu pinup

I don't recall if I ever posted this on Facebook, but I know there are at least a few Deja Vu admirers here. It depicts a melancholy moment in what is really a very lonely life for Deja.

I hate it when a leprechaun pops up just as I'm trying to take a leak. One of my pet peeves.

Paris Makes a New Friend (pg. 1 of 2)

There are a few characters I never had time to introduce in the printed story arcs (where page space is at a premium), and in a way I'm kind of glad. Realizing they'd never been seen by the public (except for one character, in a commission I once did), I took the opportunity to redesign one that I was never quite satisfied with. Then I had to re-redesign it, when I saw virtually the same design (in a drastically different context) online. It's been fun having Paris meeting new "monsters" agai...

Nessie Gets Wet

Not really falling under the recent topic of discussion, as I apply different rules to commissions, I nonetheless wanted to share this. It was done for a supporter who has always gone above and beyond for me, so I wanted to do the same in return.

Mature Content...?

Thanks to everyone who threw in their two cents on the issue of mature content (see above). Several of you hit the nail on the head, I think. The level of content in a comic (or a movie or TV show, for that matter) should flow naturally from the story and characters. For instance, there would never be anything sexy or vulgar in a Chip story. The main character has a childlike quality, plus no one wants to see a bunch of damaged and rejected gargoyles banging (although I'm sure the...

2nd Boneyard Promo (pencils only)

Here's another promotional piece I did back when. Again, pushing the limits, and again, getting flak from the publisher for it. Which brings up an interesting question: How far is too far in a comic? In Boneyard, for example. Obviously, Far West has had nudity and adult language and no one raised an eyebrow.  (Meg running around without her ass hanging out and not swearing like a pirate? Who wants that?) Th Pound--well, apart from the adult short, it didn't have nudity, but it arguably shou...

Creep's End pg.7

Whew! Finally finished the insert page. See, it occurred to me as I was about to post the next Creep's page (last week) that I had neglected to establish the name of Marna's cat, Toad. It's necessary to know this later on, thus the newly created page. Plus, it might have gotten confusing, with frogs hopping all over the damn place.  Aaannd it provided an opportunity to establish something that will be key in a later Creep's End story I'll be doing sometime in the future. And you thought I j...

Pencils for Boneyard Promo

I was looking for something else and came across copies of some old promotional pieces I'd planned for Boneyard, back in the ancient past. Here's one. I don't remember if I inked and actually ran these or not. My publisher frowned on anything risque being associated with Boneyard, and I know one of the ads featured actual nudity (gasp). The next one I'll post definitely walked that line. If anyone has those original pages, or knows where they ran, feel free to post.

Conflicted

If you're wondering--as I did after I did this page--if Glump himself shouldn't be a supervillain, rather than part of the Boneyard gang's group--don't. After thinking about it, I realized that while he would doubtless make numerous attempts to "go supervillain", he would also fail every time. For Glump, superheroing is purely a fallback  position of last resort.

People being blocked?

I just learned that some people have been blocked by Patreon. I haven't blocked anyone, so I don't know what's going on. If you've been blocked, please inform my through my email (below), and I'll see what I can find out. Sorry for the hassle, to those affected.  richardmooreart@sbcglobal.net

Abbey Hanging Around

I noticed I'd overlooked a small detail in the early pages of Creep's End, so I'm whipping up a page to fill that gap. So instead of the page I was going to upload today, here's my favorite pinup I've ever done, seen here for the first time. I'll have the next page of Creep's End up ASAP--and next week, new Boneyard!

In a way, writing Goody is like writing Meg, from Far West. They both do whatever the hell they want, whenever they want. Luckily for Meg, Phil is better at reining her in than Melanie is with Goody, or Meg would have danced at the end of a rope a long time ago.

Would you like to see merch available?

I've been leery of doing merch because sometimes it can seem like just a money grab, but lately I've been asked a number of times, "Where's the merch?" So here's your chance to have your say: To merch or not to merch?

New Links

A couple of new links up today: The Pound, and Chip. The Pound was intended to be an ongoing series, with a big cast of characters, lots of action and intrigue, but Boneyard got picked up first. Chip has an overarching, Pixaresque story that I will also likely never get to. At least I was able to bring the characters into the world, if not in their intended presentations.

I'm Not Crazy

Hey All. I've gotten a few notes from people concerned that I've bitten off more than I can chew. Apparently I was a little vague in the beginning, so I'll clarify things here.

I figured that everyone familiar with my work would know if they wanted to support it or not, but newcomers who were just curious would need to see more than one or two pages to (hopefully) be hooked. So I uploaded a few batches of pages to kick things of...

I think my scanner is dying.  Scans come out darker on one end, kind of brownish--hence the major clean-up required. Anyone have any experience with this?  Is there some kind of fix for it? Maybe a really easy, cheap one...?

I spent forever cleaning up pages on a cheap, crappy image processing program prior to launching, then realized they still looked like crap. So I had to get a better program and do it all over again.
