This was written on SB, and it spoke to me, spoke to me in words of: "Hey, wanna make Taylor's life worse/more complex? You know you do..." And yes, well I did. So it's canon.

About three hours later, Dad came back. He looked tired.
“How are you, Taylor?” he asked.
“I’m… fine.” I looked at him, then glanced back at the TV, currently showing a federal judge being escorted out of his courthouse… in handcuffs.
Underneath it, the words pulsed to get your attention:
E88 SCANDAL CONTINUES TO GROW. FOUR FEDERAL AND SIX STATE JUDGES IMPLICATED IN BRIBERY SCANDAL. “MORE TO COME” STATES ATTORNEY GENERAL. .
“That’s good. Tha...

I tried to move up and was stopped by… straps, what the hell?
“After I worked on you, you decided you needed to check something. When a nurse tried to stop you, you smacked her,” a voice said. Panacea. “So they strapped you to the bed.” I opened my eyes, and there was Panacea. Dad, only his hand was over his mouth for some reason. Next to him was Director P...

Reina sat in Somer’s Rock for the second time. Only now it was different. Lung had called the meeting, but unlike Kaiser, he did not sit at the head of the table.
Reina understood why. Kaiser pretended to power. Lung is now the power of the Bay, and he doesn’t need to call attention to it.
The bugs had crushed under her foot as she’d walked into the place—even a few days later, not all streets were clear. Reina remembered them falling like a hard snow, collecting ...

"Huh."
"What is it, Muller?"
"In the daylight, our enemy looks suspiciously like a city-sized swarm of furious insects. Who are also throwing lightning."
"Muller?"
"Yes, Heinz?"
"Can we go back to Orb Weaver hiding in the shadows?"

Mark walked into the old neighborhood, looking around nervously. Mom was gonna kill him if she knew he’d actually skipped the bus to walk through here.
But everyone knew that if you had to do it, go through the Empty Neighborhood, to show you weren’t scared. And he was ten, and not scared. Not like Greg said, but Greg just played video games all night, and talked about all the fun he had. Mom said that Greg needed to get out more and his parents needed to put some limits on him.

Colin felt one of Hebert’s ribs crack in the ambulance. He kept performing CPR. His new compact oxygenator was filtering her bloodstream, not just keeping it oxygenated, but removing the devil’s fucking brew of stimulants, fatigue poisons, and even straight up neurotoxin, and where the hell had that come from?
In front the paramedic was forcing air into Hebert, using the bag-valve mask. Then the second paramedic checked his instruments.
“Pulse is c...

The room dissolved in chaos, a few emergency lights doing little more than plunging the space into a hellish gloom while the bellows of my insects made it impossible to speak and be heard at anything under a scream.
And screaming people didn’t help anyone stay calm. Menja and Fenja screamed, slapping their hands to cover their eyes where my wasps had deposited their stings right on the eyeballs.
Good. I’d been worried that they might have a brute level even at rest.

Something short I tossed up on SpaceBattles.
****
Far away from Earth Bet, a mighty being observed the entities at work. Its power was great. Too great.
I must select a champion. One with the knowledge I need. One who will have the will, the power, to save this world and end the Entities.
Taylor Hebert. Yes.
And it prepared its mighty powers, to input the knowledge that was needed, to prepare the child for what was to come.
And then it unlea...

The most recent chapter should be available to all paid tiers. It'll go for free on the usual scheduel, but some people have had issues accessing it, even though they're on a paid tier. If you do have problems accessing it, message me so I can give Patreon a list to try and figure out what is going on.

Outside, my bugs observed, clustering on the computer monitor as my commands were answered. Geysers, only formed of insects, not water, exploded across the city, rising and coiling into the air. Underneath, the sewer lines were filled with other legions. I had to guide them slowly, using pheromones and drone dispensers, sending bugs out from my control radius with set orders.
I could not keep them from stinging people who slapped them, so they had to rise high over the buildings, ...

Mitchell stared at the intelligence brief, like it was a letter of doom.
It might as well be.
Amos Forlough is a real person. I had never heard of his name before the misjump, and yet he exists. His forlorn hope that the vision had been a hallucination, nothing more, dashed.
Mitchell's hand twitched for the intercom. The Concordat had little in the way of intelligence sources in the Hegemony, and yet he was certain they could find some criminal willing to…

19 March, 2564
When Mitchell Calderon woke up, it was to see his mother's careworn face.
"Mitchell, thank God."
Mitchell blinked, looking around then surged upright. "The Concordat! Is it okay, is it safe?"
"I—yes, Mitchell, it is." Caterina looked over to the doctor. "What is the last thing you remember?"
"We were jumping back to Taurus…" Mitchell winced. "What happened?"
"Your jumpship spent five days in Jump. Most of the crew was unaffected...

When I woke up, the sting of a second shot receding, I kept my eyes closed for a moment. I felt insects, but not enough. Someone had gone over the building with care. There was a wasp nest on the third story, but…
Well, no matter. I could—
And then some of the insects I summoned slammed into a barrier that seemed to adhere to the building like a second skin. Something tinkertech. It let air in, and larger people, but dust and other small items were pushed away.

Just as a note, there will be a little delay. The Legislative news that dropped today... well, to put it succinctly, we have several autistic family members who may be losing their aid and I have no goddamned idea what to do. So I was gonna let the chapter drop, but I want it to be a good chapter, and right now, I'm really not in a good headspace for writing.

Claire fought. She slapped herself, screaming "get out of me!" But Morganna was too strong, had been in her ever since she'd used the staff to save the trolls from Gunmar. Had been using her. And now... Now she no longer needed to stay hidden.
"You're only hurting yourself…" Morganna laughed. Claire ran for the door, trying to get out, trying to get away, when she was lifted up and pull back in.

a bit delayed on the next chapter of Wrath of God (have it up tomorrow, likely), so enjoy this:

I sent my bugs swarming down to get Lung. I didn't know what children he was going to kill but--
Wait a minute, why was he shouting something about this not being in the script? What the hell--
And then a hole in space opened next to me and a woman in a Fedora hit me with some kind of tinkertech gun, and everything went dark.

They moved quickly, my bugs detecting a motion from Hookwolf’s hand. Stormtiger’s winds kick up and Cricket wend to the window shades, looking out, before she looked back and shook her head. I sent a text to Alexandria, telling her to be ready to expect a call in ten minutes or so.
“There’s no need for Cricket and Stormtiger to take such actions, Brad, I’m here for a negotiation, not a fight.”
“Like you negotiated with Lebensraum.”

I was finding it hard to keep up the pace. Some of it was being tired, although my bugs kept me nicely warm, and a few abandoned houses had beds I could use. After all, I had no worries about lice.
No. My problem was that I was running out of people. I had an entire little skit for one man and his family, and when I got to his house, it was empty. The car was gone, even the dog was gone, and the only thing I could find was a note to the housekeeper that they were heading...

Luka Gonzalez had lived in the bay all his life. He’d been here before Empire, before the E88, hell, before the parahumans. He’d lived in the days when trying to fight a cop got you shot, before the cops just had to back off in front of a guy who could turn into a dragon.
Like anyone in the Bay he knew that there were places you didn’t go, things you didn’t say. Unless you wanted to end up at Mercy General from a beating or the morgue from a beating that got a little out of hand...

I didn’t do much during the night. I needed to nap. Oh, a few homes I visited late at night, has some quick conversations, but the fact was that humans had an incredible ability to get used to things. I didn’t want to run the risk of Orb Weaver becoming normal after all.
So I had a few more mid-management types, E88 fronts, that would be unmolested tonight. Let them think I didn’t know, that they had escaped.
Then, on the fourth night, I would go a...
