Whelp.

Not the best week.

Tomorrow a new chapter of Weaver's Web goes up. I'm also going to start putting out chapters of an origional story, as well as another fanfic, LOTR/Trollhunters. The last is mainly because I love trollhunters, and it's a challenge to fit Tolkien in with other settings and keep them, you know, compatible. It's also a way to deal with the fact that as Weaver's Web grows, getting a single chapter done takes a bit more time.

I didn't nearly finish a chapter...

The Chapter has gone free early.

Yesterday, my goddaughter, who is autistic, was twirling, lost her balance, fell and slammed her head into the side of the table. She's currently at the children's hospital after some frankly terrifying seizures and other events. I'm putting the chapter up early, because I don't know when I'll be back home for long periods of time, until this gets sorted out.

SMH, given everythign that has happened, offline and online this last month, I hope this isn't a sign of things to come...

Orb Weaver Plague: Chapter 9B Interlude

Emily frowned. Taylor Hebert’s father was building himself up into… well, she wasn’t a parent, but she’d dealt with parahumans, and this wasn’t going to help.

“Investigator,” she said. “If you want, maybe you could thank Clockblocker? It will spare us from his…”

“Cries?” Taylor said in that very calm voice of hers. A glance at Danny showed she knew what Emily was thinking.

And a little relief, unless that’s also a thinker facade. You could ...

New chapter coming out tomorrow.

Halloween was fun, and exhausting. Today was a inservice day for school (yes, teachers, I was one of you. You say it was for meetings. I hear: Ha. hah, no way are we dealing with a school full of kids on sugar highs and/or withdrawals, and oh look, it's friday, so we can justify it.!) There will be some polls on what other stories to be put out, and some other such.

Hope everyone had a great spooky day!

And the Chapter has gone public.

Tomorrow the next part should drop. Good news, I learned i can still walk ten miles when a friend's car died.

Bad news... I walked ten miles.

God, Track Team Me from the distant past would be furious.

When my eyes opened I blinked. My mask was still on.

“Do I have permission to fully heal you?” The voice was waspish, and it was… Ah. Amy.

“Yes, Panacea, and thank you.”

“Good. I did provide life saving care.” She paused and then continued as if reading from memory. “Immediate life saving care, when the patient is unconscious, does not re...

Orb Weaver: Plague, Chapter 8

Tattletale, thinker. I’d never seen her in her skintight black-and-lavender outfit, which indicated she was very confident in her appearance, but I’d seen her once before, and she had either not noticed who I was, or was keeping it secret. Far beneath me, bugs started to twist as it stilled my face. I could not afford to give anything away.

Regent was a very low level master, with the ability to introduce spasms in people. There had been some vid...

Orb Weaver: Plague, Chapter 7

When I left the hospital, I let Dad know I’d be late. The sun wasn’t going down yet, so there was time, I quickly changed in a bathroom, using my bugs to ensure nobody saw me go in or leave. Granted, everyone who counted knew my identity, but there was no reason to slack off.

How do I find her? And it had to be me.  Orb Weaver trafficked in terror and the last thing the city needed was someone with the power Madison now had, be...

Orb Weaver: Plague: Chapter 6

Normally, the PRT wouldn’t lead with Madison’s identity. But the E88 had already put it out. And Madison’s parents were in a safe house outside the city. She had no other close friends, in fact, many of the school students mentioned how they never agreed with what the three did.

I wonder if they realized how bad that made them sound. They didn’t agree… but wouldn’t stop it.

But right now the PRT was setting up the interview room. I saw Ms. Cho in one seat...

“They will be waiting after school,” the senior said.

Reina nodded. “Good. The excuse?”

“Done.” The tall ABB ganger bowed briefly.

Orb Weaver: Plague: Chapter 5

The alarm hit just after I got notification via one of my buried “bug phones” outside of school. I’d been whiling away the math period, since I would be going half day relatively soon, training some rats in an underground arena. Just sending them out as a mob would lead anyone who was observant to notice the difference between rats and a swarm under my control.

Thus, I’d had my bugs excavate some chambers, and had herded rats in and was training them, using a mixture of bugs bit...

The Web of the Weaver: Interlude: Glory and Terror

Everyone was screaming and yelling, and Madison looked around frantically. Rosita was making terrible moaning sounds and BLOOD was all over the place. Nobody could help her, everyone was running....

A memory came to her, flashing like a strobe, disjointed memories. She'd been in Sixth grade and fallen on the jungle Gym and they'd driven her to the hospital.

Hospitals. Doctors. Help.

She scooped Rosita up in one arm, the bigger ...

Robotech: Exodus: Meetings and Surprises

When Janna woke up, Adam was already looking at the journal.

“Most of this is known to me.” The robot shook his head. “Some of it is not. The ‘first automated exploration fleet’ was not something I was ever informed of. But there is reference to Base Delta…”

“Yeah, I looked at it. Somewhere in the old Zentraedi zone,” Janna said as she pulled some cereal out and started preparing it as the kids started to move into the main room. “Probably gone by now.”

More people were coming into the center. Madison noticed that they were… different.

“Orb Weaver,” Rosita said. “I heard that since he brought in Alabaster, people aren’t as… reluctant to call it in, and the downtown juvie center is getting overcrowded. So… we get the wannabes.”

“Wannabes?” Madison asked.

“Sure. Anyone who did serious cri...

Orb Weaver: Plague, Chapter 4

The Brockton Bay area, including outlying communities had a population of roughly 700,000. The city had a population of roughly 350,000. Kaiser had to be in town on a regular basis, and there was no sign the Empire had movers. His power was also well known and in line with those displayed by All Father and Iron Rain.

So the first assumption, I thought as I sipped some tea, was that Kaiser was a native.

The second question was about the name “Max.” Max, Maxwell, Maximus… ther...

Robotech: Exodus. Interlude: Machine Dreams

I do not sleep. The amount of energy needed to run my processing core is negligible. I, and my companions do have short periods of hibernation, needed to our ability to integrate new memories, and our mental health—unlike software, our minds change both physically and in terms of data… much like a humans.

Our creator claimed that was a reason we were passed over—that unlike Garm class AIs, we could not be simply duplicated—we were individuals. And mankind was jealous of sapience...

Robotech: Exodus, 3

David was stalking around the living room.

I shouldn’t have let her go.  She was supposed to be back before the night fell, and here they were, two days later, and…

“Is Janna okay?”

“She’s just late, Mandy,” He told the eight-year-old.

“Can I go out and play?”

“No. Invid. Play inside.”

David didn’t know what had happened, but the Invid had gone absolutely berserk not long after Janna had left. Connerston had been burned...

When Janna woke up, everything was quiet. No sound of battle. No light.

She groaned, and rolled over, pulling a pocket flash out and turned to see the…

Mass of rubble where the door was.

Okay, stay calm. I’m just potentially buried alive. No reason to panic.

Janna took a deep breath, ignoring the way the air seemed to be a bit… hot, and then played the flash around the room.

Okay, another door, this one not a hatch.

Janna pushed it open, and looked...

I didn’t expect that Blackwell would tattle on me. She was not someone to take risks. But It provided another layer of security, especially if someone threatened her, or used parahuman powers. She was also not a brave woman, and now, even the best thinker would learn only that Orb Weaver and The Investigator were looking at the same case—and that Orb Weaver was not a fan of the Investigator and not above harming her investigations for his own goals.

Orb Weaver: Plague, Chapter 2

The most likely way to detect her would be through the school. A student suffering headaches would go to the nurse, and the school system was not… high priority.

Or to put it differently, a school official talking in the Bay was less likely to suffer consequences than say, a doctor violating HIPAA.

I started examining the school records and well, what did you know. Someone I knew was in charge of the student health and safety compliance office of the Bay.

The Parahuman age...

Orb Weaver: Plague, Chapter One

Sitting in my empty house I was…

Nervous

It was odd, I’d never been concerned with the possibility of death, I’d fought the Empire, dealt with a master… But some part of a 15 year old girl wasn’t thrilled that Dad was all the way away in LA.

He would be there for at least a few days, talking with the PRT and staying with Dinah until her parents arrived.
