I was a big fan of the first movie, so I was naturally anticipating this sequel. And it didn't disappoint. It was actually pretty darn aca-awesome!
Obviously, this franchise isn't for everyone, but it serves its niche very well and has a lot of talent behind it. So let's not get mad at this film JUST because it beat 'Mad Max: Fury Road' at the box-office, okay?
Okay.

From what I've heard, this 2015 BBC Films adaptation starring Cary Mulligan (Woo, Sally Sparrow!) is pretty faithful to the original Thomas Hardy novel.
If that's the case...why was this book considered mandatory reading in schools again? Because it's pretty lame.
Here's my review of the movie. I'm sure it won't be controversial at all...

Caught up with the box-office, at least for now while we wait for the final numbers to come in from the weekend of May 15th.
Anywho, did anyone actually see 'Spooks: The Greater Good'? If so, how was it? Did you watch it as a fan or as a newcomer? Let me know! =)

I'm getting into a pretty annoying non-habit of NOT posting these reviews on Patreon the moment they go live. I uploaded this review on Friday, so I apologise for the delay.
I'll try and fix that in future.
Either way, Russell Crowe tries to find his children in his directorial debut 'The Water Diviner'.

Honestly, I'm quite happy with how this review turned out.
I was initially very concerned about writing an in-depth review of 'Child 44' because in order to write an in-depth review of 'Child 44', one must remember ANYTHING that happens in 'Child 44'.
For a movie this bland and poorly constructed, that's quite a task. But I somehow managed to get out a 1,900+ analysis of the film.
So yeah, this film is pretty much a flop in a financial sense and it's not very good. It's been banned in Russia ...

Unsurprisingly, 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' took the top spot in the UK again. But, strangely enough, the new indie films actually did pretty well in the face of such overwhelming competition!
This was last weekend's UK box-office top 10!

'Woman in Gold', despite being a month-old, is still making quite a splash at the UK box-office, so I don't feel THAT bad about leaving it almost a month before getting around to the review.
Obviously, that's still bad form on my part, but I've got to justify this somehow.
TL;DR - it's good. Not great. Go watch 'Philomena'.

Sorry for the lateness, but here's the May 2015 Movie Preview!
I aim to have these done by the first Friday of the month, but many delays prevented me from having it done even by the second Friday of the month.
However, the earlier films in the preview are still available to view in movie theatres and there are still plenty of films left in the month so...that's okay, right?
Right?
Either way, I'm making my way through my back-log of content, so fun times ahead!

Buckle up, folks.
Trilbee not only tries to debunk the baseless accusations thrown as Joss Whedon's supposedly "sexist" portrayal of Black Widow in 'Avengers: Age of Ultron', but he explains why this false labelling can be more damaging than you might think in regards to media and culture.
It's a topical editorial. It's been a while...

Also, you might be interested to know that I'm swiftly working on another editorial. It's a very topical one so you should expect it within the next couple of days.
Anywho, has anyone actually seen 'Child 44' or 'A Little Chaos'?

Hello Patrons! How all you folks, doing?
Good!
Now, time for business. Thanks to everyone for supporting the Patreon Campaign last month but I've already had one or two individuals asking for partial or full refunds because they felt over-charged.
I'll be happy to comply with refunds, but please keep in mind that I reminded Patrons at least three times that they needed to set their monthly caps in order to prevent this from happening. Like I said, I don't mind going through the process but it...

No, you've not read that title wrong. 'Marvel Avengers: The Age of Ultron' is the name of the movie in the UK, just like 'Marvel Avengers Assemble' was the title of the first film in 2012.
Anyway, my most anticipated film of the year came out in my country a week before the U.S.A. so that means you pretty much get an early SPOILER-FREE review of one of the most hyped comic book movies of all time and my favourite movie of 2015 (so far).
Incidentally, to all Patrons out there, this should be th...

If you're in this film's target demographic (12-18) then I highly recommend you see 'The DUFF'.
While this may not be a glowing review as 'The DUFF' isn't a truly exceptional or great movie, it is clever enough, entertaining enough and topical enough that I think it's worth seeing!

Been very busy over the past week so these Patreon updates have been a bit late coming, but here we go! Spongebob movie review!
I was kinda taken aback by how little live-action content was in this movie, especially considering the fact that it takes up almost all of the advertising. Whether it was the trailers or the posters, 90% of the focus was on the 3D, Superhero aspect of the film when that only comes into play in the last 20-30 minutes.
But, if it got more kids into the movie theatre to...

Honestly, the more I see of 'Terminator: Genisys', the more I like the look of it.
I put it on my "Top 10 Most Anticipated of 2015" list mainly out of optimism, but this second trailer was filled with enough interesting concepts to have me on board for this reboot/prequel/sequel/whatisthis?

This review went up the other day, so I apologise in the lateness of getting this put on Patreon.
This review was actually pretty enjoyable to write. Certainly my favourite review of mine since 'Love Is Strange' back in February. I had pretty low/mild expectations for this live-action remake but looking back I don't quite know what I was so worried about because the film turned out to be pretty wonderful.
I think it's flawed, but it was a lovely film and one of my favourites of 2015 so far. So...

While I'm a week behind in terms of the current releases (I've still the only person in the UK to not see 'Furious 7' if its opening weekend is any indication), I'm making my way through my back-catalogue.
The review of 'Cinderella' and 'The Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out of Water' reviews are next. but until then we have last weekend's box-office to talk about!

As Trilbee continues his extensive quest to get through the backlog of movies from March, he finds a movie that completely baffles him; Seventh Son.
In all seriousness, I'm trying to put the pieces together as to why this movie didn't turn out amazing. It has everything I love in a movie just...not done with enthusiasm.
I've not read the book that the movie was based on, so maybe that's the missing piece of the puzzle. Maybe you kind folks can fill me in! =)

If you saw my March 2015 movie preview then you'll know that I was dreading 'Home'. I hated the trailers and I hated the cast (on paper), but I kinda wanted it to succeed because Dreamworks are having a difficult time right now financially.
But I'm happy to report that while 'Home' might not be a home run (GEDDIT!?), it is still a good film and better then it had much of a right to be. Not perfect, but I'm glad the movie is doing well at the box-office and that it has two leads that represent t...
