The Last of the Last

This is the last day to adjust your level of support, to see the last (as far as I know) appearance of Breanna in a new film. 'Blaxploitation' is the movie-of-the-month at the $10 level. $25 for the BTS, and trust me, it's short, to the point, but you want it!

The Day Before The Day

I know, kind of a riff on my film 'The Day After The Day'. But look, this is the day before the last day to decide on your level of support. The $10 level gets you the movie-of-the-month - the last one before the new season premieres (no movie-of-the-month that month). June's movie-of-the-month is 'Blaxploitation', and starts with an epic scene of Breanna - possibly her last appearance in my films.

So be sure to spend the evening thinking about where your support should go.

Ghostly

I can't wait for you all to see 'The Woodlawn Avenue Ghost', one of three films involving ghosts and hauntings coming in the films that will make up season 15, which begins in August.

I'll have to see if I can get a trailer for this one hammered out soon.

June

May is walking out, and June is quickly on its way.

By the way, I'd love to work with this actress again. Like some new actresses who work for me her main objective was to get a piece for her reel. In the old days agencies used to bring actors in and give them copy to read. Now they expect actors to all have some kind of reel to show. So there is a bit of a rush to get in a project and get a clip to show. And I have a reputation, having done over 120 films, of not just paying actors, bu...

The Forgotten

There are several actresses that I worked with for only a single project. And this actress is one, whose performance shouldn't be forgotten. Not just because she was terrific in 'The Day After The Day', but also because of this scene, where I took her into my basement and had men repeatedly dump buckets of cold water on her in an interrogation scene.

I put someone on guard at the door to prevent residents of the building from coming down to do their laundry, and we shot these scenes aga...

The Woodlawn Avenue Ghost

This film is shaping up to be a pretty creepy film. Both my leads found the script creepy, and were even weirded out when I explained how some of the shots would look.

So yeah, I did use the two actors I mentioned on Monday's posting. And yeah, they were both great as two typically Chicago people caught up in an urban ghost legend.

A Fun Shoot

Sometimes shooting can be fun. I try and keep a light, happy set. Actors work better when they're relaxed and feel they're in a safe environment.

Possibilities

A couple of possibles for an upcoming short, 'The Woodlawn Avenue Ghost'. Both gave great auditions, so you might see more of them.

Most Requested

There are some actresses that are highly requested by my audience to see again. Some I can fulfill, some not.

Alex, of course, I have been able to fill the requests on. She's a perennial favorite. She loves doing my films, is fearless in her nude scenes, and everyone seems to love her. Danielle jumped out as an immediate favorite. Unfortunately there will be no more movies with her as she's moved out of town.

I used an old friend, Elaine, in a couple of my films ('So Close to Ever...

Amazons

These two are the tallest actresses I've worked with. I'm 6ft and both women were taller than me!

It's not the easiest thing on camera to determine, especially as the actresses mainly worked alone in their films.

Natalie

After another clip from the new Ben Affleck film 'Hypnotic' was released that also featured the star of 'The Darkest Part of the City' I decided to repost the trailer on Vimeo.

I and all the people who worked with her are very proud of her here. Natalie herself is thrilled to death with it!

Impact

There were three films I thought would have a bigger impact than they did, 'Analog', 'Mr. Billabong', and 'Cassandra'. Everyone seemed to like those films, but they didn't resonate as well with the audience as I hoped.

Now, 'The Black Coat' is an example of a film that everyone seemed to love. I got more feedback on that than any other film (even films with Danielle). A lot urged me to expand it into a feature. 'POV' is another film that many have said really grabbed them, and not just ...

Crash and Burn

I don't think I've told this story before - but I worked with an editor once on an early film. After I turned my footage over to him he contacted me to say he'd accidentally deleted all of my footage. All of it. And had deleted it from the camera as well. So you'll never see that film, or the actress. But much of the story was incorporated in 'Figment' with a pinch going into 'POV'.

Season 14

Season 14 wraps up next month, with the new season premiering in July with one brand new film!

So there won't be a movie-of-the-month in July as with all new seasons. If you're below or up to season 14 you'll still get your regular 4-8 movies (depending on where you're supporting).

So now I'm starting my 15th season. More on the film that launches that season, coming up!

Confusion

I'm with this lovely actress (who appears in the upcoming 'Rubicon'). I don't know exactly what order some of my films are appearing in.

I have several films for the upcoming months shot and edited, and I'm trying to decide what order to put them in - no films with similar themes back-to-back, no films with the same actors one after the other, what works best (I feel) at a given time of year.

Almost as confusing as writing my scripts...

I have a friend who says I'm the King of the walk-off nude scene. Ok.

This is from the upcoming film 'Ancestry'. Something worth looking forward to down the line.

Personal Favorite

I have to admit, 'The Apartment at the End of the Hall' is one of my favorite films of all my works.

Shooting a film a month is a crushing schedule, and a financial strain, but I was so happy with the result of this film given all the limitations.

I've shot quite a few films ahead in my schedule, so that should give me time to plan another really big film. Maybe the feature I keep hinting at.

('The Apartment at the End of the Hall' will be part of season 14).

Blaxploitation! (Trailer)

Here's the trailer for next month's movie-of-the-month, 'Blaxploitation'!

I love this film. It's a horror film, but I shot it somewhat (not overdone) in the style of what is called a Blaxploitation film.

It's also, as far as I know, the LAST film you'll get a chance to see the lovely Breanna in.

Post Covid Casting

Even though the immediate threat of Covid has been somewhat blanketed by vaccine usage, the landscape of filmmaking for both the majors and the independents has been forever changed. It is still difficult for me when I try and cast - people remain skittish about gathering together in groups. I think about how easy it was before to cast, like the first time I cast Danielle. The site I got her through now barely gets me a nibble, and when it does, there is still so many questions about Covid sa...

Crazy or Sane?

Loud neighbors more than just festive? Or the paranoia of a crippled man with no one to talk to? That's the premise of 'The House Across The Way', one of two films I'm doing in the manner of YouTube episodes.

Changing the Past

This is a film I've long had issues with. I've done 3 version of the film and hated all three. And I'm about to do my 4th and final adjustment to it. And finally, I'll be able to rest!

There are 2 women in the film, but in the new version there'll only be one. The second actress will appear in an upcoming film.

Mammatus

They're called mammatus clouds. Very unusual and very beautiful. We had them after a storm. So I took my trusty camera outside and captured the image. You'll see them in one of my upcoming films.

Establishing shots are always a big part of my films. And it's great when mother nature helps!
