So about that poll...

I will probably make all of those video ideas at some point in the near future. The one about Native Americans' relationship with nature was far and away the most popular, and it's going to be extremely badass and totally awesome, though it probably won't be the first one I complete and release. I'm scheduling lots of zoom interviews for it with Native historians and climate activists, and a lot of them aren't available til later this month. So it's happening, just maybe not imminently.

This is just a little vlog type thing talking about the financial nuts and bolts of my two latest narrative film projects. My hope is that young and aspiring filmmakers who are considering taking an unconventional career path like I did can learn from my experience. I have some videos lined up for the next month that will be lower effort in terms of research and production (but still fun!) so I would like to get started on research for the next more intensive, in-depth video which will probably release sometime in August.

Today I shot about two thirds of a new video about the life and ideas of 20th century ethnobotanist Terence McKenna (which might end up being like 2 hours long???)

I'm going out west this summer on a kind of working vacation, and I'll be able to do some filming in some truly beautiful locations.

Popped off the last shot for the finale tonight – it's not the whole team pictured, but these are three gents who were absolutely crucial to the process and were there in the French Quarter on location tonight to say goodbye to this series with me.

Battle shoot DONE!

I dragged a whole production (including key members of the Sudbury Devil team) up to rural Mississippi and we shot from dusk til dawn for three nights. Tons of work to do in post, but it's going to be unbelievably sick.

Currently on a three day night shoot on location which is kind of brutal, but we're getting good stuff. About to head off for another night on the battlefield. More stills to come soon!

Starting to get into crazy busy hectic time as I prep for our main block of shooting days at the end of this month, which will involve a location shoot for three nights, lots of black powder (used safely and under close supervision from an expert of course), and flying in John Fletcher of Moseley's company.

That should be a series wrap on the Checkmate Lincolnites set, provided there's nothing wrong with the audio or whatever. Feels good to have knocked out such a major part of this big finale production!
