Neopets Bloopers
I thought that, since I was only recording half the lines that I usually do, I wouldn't have good material for this one. Boy howdy was I wrong.

This is kind of a bonus episode on the mistakes I've made in my videos.

2017-06-25 03:36:59 +0000 UTC View PostHey, everyone! I wanted to let you all know that I'm going to be leaving on the 24th for two weeks, and I'll be without internet for the majority of the time, unless Monsanto has given wifi crops to the farmers in Idaho. I'm working hard to make sure you all get the next Down the Rabbit Hole before I leave. I just finished recording the voiceover for it, and now all that's left is the video editing, so I'm comfortably ahead of schedule.

2017-06-08 21:06:54 +0000 UTC View PostHello, lovely ladies and gents. The next month and a half or so is going to be hectic, so I thought I'd clue everyone in on what's going on since there's a bunch of rad stuff in the works. I'm going to be gone for two weeks pretty soon, so I'm working like a madman to make sure everything's in order before I go.
First off, work is finally continuing on the next Grimm Archives. I got the book I ordered in the mail and the Phil DtRH is done, so I have time to finish the script and record audio f...

2017-06-06 22:28:32 +0000 UTC View PostUp to this point, I've had only a general idea of what I wanted for goals, and in my indecision, I left up a $150 goal. However, now that I've got a better handle on what I need and what is in the realm of possibility, I want to make a change to that particular goal.
Good, quality animation is going to cost more than that reward tier will give me, and what I need more are border cards for certain videos and for text. I could use generic cards, but I want to avoid making the show look cheap whe...

This one's on DarksydePhil, one of the most controversial internet subjects. This video took an inordinate amount of time to research due to his glut of videos and just how much information there was to parse. Even so, I hope you enjoy!
2017-06-05 19:26:07 +0000 UTC View PostHello everyone! I wanted to let you know where I am in the process of making new videos and what's coming up.
First off, the new Grimm Archives will be uploaded onto my channel this time. Work started in earnest again a couple weeks back, but I hit a road block when I realized I needed a specific book for my research (which I bought with funds directly from Patreon, thanks a ton, everyone!).
So, while I'm waiting for that book, I'm working on the next Down the Rabbit Hole on DarkSydePhil...

2017-05-04 20:58:03 +0000 UTC View PostHello everyone! I wanted to help clue people in on what's coming down the pipeline in terms of content.
Currently, I'm working on the next Down the Rabbit Hole, which will likely be shorter than the others (10-15 min. range), on DarkSydePhil. He's been heavily requested, but since there's less meat to this story, I had previously declined to make a video on him. However, there's just enough about him and he's a popular enough topic that he warrants at least a shorter video.
Once the Dark...
2017-04-14 21:20:49 +0000 UTC View PostTomorrow (March 29) at 5:00 PDT, or 8:00 EDT, there will be a livestream on my Youtube channel. A bit over a month ago, I gave a talk on Junji Ito, Lovecraft, and cosmic horror, and I wanted to give other people a chance to hear it as well, so I'll be giving it again, complete with slideshow presentation. Afterwards, there will be a bit of a Q&A on the material and on DtRH in general, though of course, you're welcome to ask your questions here or on twitter (@FourthOracle) anytime.

2017-03-28 22:11:40 +0000 UTC View PostA couple of months ago, I decided to eschew my added backer benefits and reduce them down to just the $1 tier, since what I wanted to provide took too much time; I found myself writing and recording for backer benefits rather than working on the thing for which people came in the first place.
I'd like to add some higher tiers again, but I want your opinions on what you want to see. I have a couple of ideas: I could provide a short video with extra commentary on the topics covered and include s...
2017-02-21 19:18:38 +0000 UTC View PostThis Saturday, on February 25th, I'm going to be screening my full DtRH on this history of anime and the otaku. It'll be in Salem, Oregon, at the Red Lion hotel. Tickets are pretty cheap, you can get them here: http://www.miyakocon.com/registration/
After the screening of a special cut of parts 1 and 2 together, I'll be doing another panel giving a literary analysis of horror master and manga author Junji Ito, compa...

2017-02-18 22:20:48 +0000 UTC View PostHey, guys! I know it's been a while since I've done much on the channel, and I want to assure everyone that I am definitely not dead. I've been working on finding work to subsidize myself, but progress on the next DtRH has been continuing, and it's a doozy. This one is probably going to be very long, as it's dealing with a huge topic: anime and the otaku subculture. I'm starting all the way back from World War II, so there's a huge amount of ground to cover.
I suspect the episode wi...
2017-01-27 02:16:10 +0000 UTC View PostHello everyone! Part 1 of The Call of Cthulhu is now available for your listening pleasure. The other parts will be coming before the month's end. Thanks a ton for being patient with me, this month has been killer.
I'm considering posting just this first part to Youtube. If you take issue with this, please let me know. I don't want anyone to feel like they're being cheated.
2016-11-26 07:01:07 +0000 UTC View PostWhen I began researching Vaporwave, I quickly came to the realization that I was in way over my head, and I still feel like I only have a basic understanding of what it is. During the script-writing process, I had frequent flashbacks to my daunting college course on literary theory. I think that my struggle with both literary theory and Vaporwave stems from my immersion in the postmodern world, which has inexorably tainted my ability to understand and comprehend artistic movements in part ...
2016-11-26 00:03:11 +0000 UTC View PostHi, everyone! Okay, time to play catch-up. As I promised, I'd be giving out a free copy of my novelette, Machina Urbis, as an apology for being gone most of November, so here it is! There are both PDF and e-book versions attached to this post, but if neither of them works, let me know and I'll get you sorted.

I'm just about back at 100%, though my throat is still a little raw. I expect that I can start recording voicework again tomorrow, and I'm back to researching and writing. Those of you at the beta reading tier level can expect a script in a couple of days, those at the audiobook tier can expect Part 1 of Call of Cthulhu either tomorrow or the day after, and those at the essay/blog tier will see the next piece either today or tomorrow.

2016-11-05 19:51:38 +0000 UTC View PostSo now I've caught a cold, which is 50 different kinds of garbage. Historically, I tend to recover quickly, but I refuse to make too many promises. I'll be resting to try to get better, but as soon as I'm better, I'll make some extra content to make it up to all of you fine, generous people.
For my next audiobook, I'm going to be going through the entirety of The Call of Cthulhu. The story is divided into five sections, and I'll be doing each section as its own audiobook, but to make up...

I feel super guilty about this, but the audiobook and essay for this weekend are going to have to be delayed for early next week. The DtRH for Star Citizen and the first episode of Grimm Archives ate up all of my time for work and I haven't had the opportunity to record and write. (I really really tried to make time, but I was up until about 2:00 AM most nights this week trying to finish everything)
I'll make it up to you guys!
2016-10-30 00:14:25 +0000 UTC View PostWhat would you all think of a Q&A livestream on the topics in Down the Rabbit Hole? I'd specifically solicit questions from my Patreon backers, who could ask as many questions as they wanted so I could sift through them. I feel like it would be a good opportunity to go deeper into the topics outside of the essays, albeit less structured. I'd take questions about myself, too, since I'm vain enough. =P
2016-10-28 00:06:59 +0000 UTC View PostI've spent the last couple of weeks talking about the topics on the videos, but I feel like I've neglected something important: the craft of the videos themselves. Before college, I had done some small-time editing work for a D-list producer, who shall remain nameless. It was vapid and soul-crushing—I was stuck stringing together hours of video from a beauty pageant with the most generic camera shots possible, and I still resent the fact that I spent my eighteenth birthday in the editing bay s...

P.S. I admit that this is a little bit vain.
