Dad doesn't negotiate. 

If baby doesn't want to come to the changing table, the changing table will have to come to him... Or something like that. I guess Daddy could carry the damn thing, but it's probably easier to just pick up the baby in question instead. Better for his back, no doubt.

Drama, drama everywhere

Hey everybody, I'm terribly sorry but I won't be able to upload a new image today.  :/

I've been dealing with family drama (more than usually), and now I have the migraine of my life, preventing me from looking at a screen for more than a minute. In addition to all the yelling and pouting going on around me right now, I have zero chance of grabbing a pen. I'm so sorry.

Hopefully I'll get things back on track tomorrow, thanks to all of you <3

The Dressup Game

He's always a bit nervous when Mommy starts rummaging through the wardrobe with that peculiar smile on her face. Understandably.

The Eternal Battle

Silent Night

Originally, Mommy just wanted to test this new attachment for Benny's pacifier real quick before bedtime, just to see whether it's the right size and all. Unfortunately Ben didn't like the idea, so Madelaine had to get out the special gear to help him keep the thing where it belongs. But then he wouldn't stop fiddling with the strap, so mittens were added to keep his fingers out of trouble. That didn't exactly improve his mood either, but at least he's not complaining anymore now, and is all ...

The Price of Punctuality

Benny's been invited over to a friend's place for a fun playdate!  

He was told to get ready so Daddy can dress him up and drive him there at exactly 4pm (that's when the short pointer on the clock is at 4 and the long one is at 12, in case you didn't know). 

Unfortunately, Benny spent 20 minutes trying to decide which plushie to take with him, and then fell asleep for half an hour, so now it's all up to Captain Punctuality to save the date!

Ready for the day

Getting him all dressed up for a day outside is not an easy task, and don't even try telling him that he can't take one of his plushies everywhere he goes. Also, you better make sure there's tons of fun stuff in the car. Also ice cream. 

Sweet Dreams

This is the finished result of the WiP I posted two days ago!

The old banner was, like basically everything else about my page, more or less just a placeholder, and I finally decided to give it a bit of context and slap some colour on there as well. Hooray! 

Off to Bed

Possibly the best moment after a long, stressful day of being a big baby. Soft sleeper: Check. Super soft plushie: Check. Even softer blanket: Check. Now what are you waiting for, get out a bedtime story and prepare a bottle of warm cocoa, chop-chop!

Thinking

It's been a long day of being a bab, drinking milk, cuddling with Mommy and Daddy, watching tv, taking naps, demanding attention, landing in the time-out corner for absolutely no reason whatsoever, and hitting his leg on the coffee table. Twice. 

And now, of course, he needs to contemplate his next step on this fine day. There is so much to do still, and he is DEFINITELY NOT TIRED at all!

Just resting his eyes for a minute. Or two. Or 480.

Hey! Listen!

It's a rainy afternoon, and Daddy Richard seems to have forgotten one of the most essential rules of babysitting Benjamin:

While he's awake, you are NOT allowed to just start taking a nap, or do anything really, without his EXPLICIT PERMISSION! You're supposed to sit there and listen to all the crucial information he has to share, regarding dinsoaurs and video games and his favourite tv-show protagonists!

Sleeping Noises

Whether it's in the middle of playing a game, watching a movie, or even during a walk, Benjamin has the ability to fall asleep at any given time. The only time he doesn't like taking a nap is when he's told to do so. But in general, he just sleeps a lot. There simply isn't a huge incentive for staying awake when Daddy is always around to carry you anyway. *shrugs*

And yes, that's a plush-seahorse.

Proudest Dad

Things don't always go according to plan, and that's a-okay with Dad! 

Just keep giving it your best shot and he'll never be disappointed! (unless you leak on him, then the fun's over)

Everything Changes

Being changed is an embarrassing experience as it is. No matter who does it, whether it's Mommy, Daddy, or even a temporary caretaker/babysitter, Ben just always wants it to be over as soon as possible. But nothing's worse than those times when one of them changes, while the other suddenly enters the room with a camera and starts taking photos. It's like Benny's the only one not having fun.

The absolutely amazing Joshua just upgraded his patronage tier to the maximum, and is now supporting me with 100€ on the Shadow Hüä tier. 

From now on, every month, I will create a picture just for him, according to his very own ideas, which will ba awesome! 

I will now proceed to sit here and sob like a baby for a prolonged amount of time.

Bad Day

Some days, trouble just seems unavoidable. Constantly testing your limits and crossing boundaries is all fun and dandy, until you suddenly find yourself in the naughty corner with a red backside because you've finally gone too far, and Dad wasn't in the mood for being patient. 

He also wasn't in the mood for putting the diaper back on, apparently. 

Better luck tomorrow!

Artsing

He's not much of an artist, but wildly swinging a pen around and wasting all of Mommy's stacks of paper is fun regardless!

This is also basically me.

Game Boy

"Daddy, this stupid thing is borked! There are no colors, the sounds are weird, and everytime I die I have to start from the beginning!"

Richard will think twice about giving Ben any of his old things again.

Learning

Mommy Madelaine is a French illustrator, Daddy Richard is a German author. Being an american kid with a "complicated" past, there's a lot Ben can learn in his new environment, and he's expected to try his best studying two new languages, for starters. 

Not an easy task, he was never exactly the A+-type of student, languages are weird out of principle, and he's starting all the way at the bottom, on square one. 

Fortunately though, Mommy and Daddy have written and publish...

Naptime Preparations

Naptime's an important aspect of a good day.

You'd think Benny's used to the whole routine at this point, but I guess there's some things that simply can't be changed, such as his inability to chill out. He prefers being changed by Mommy, so that might be why. Or maybe he just feels observed. 

Whatever the case, all worries shall be gone after a nice, long nap!

Bunny

His name is Benjamin, but he never liked that very much (he thinks it sounds "too childish"), so he usually goes by "Ben" instead. His Mommy and Daddy therefore often call him "Benny" because they think it's cuter. He doesn't like that either though, and because Daddy was tired of him complaining, he just started calling him "Bunny" instead. 

And now it's a thing.

I've been working on this all day. It started as a sketch, but I kept going and going in-between government calls and paperwork, until it was too late to turn back, so I did what I could to basically-finish it.    

Looks like I'm not the only one who had a busy day. This one's gone for good, don't even try to wake him before tomorrow morning.

Note to caretakers: 

If you leave your little one alone and tell them to "write a thank you message", make sure to specify that the pieces of paper you gave them are supposed to be the messages. And while you're at it, hide the fingerpaints.

Last Change

Dug out an older sketch I never did anything with, and slapped some colours and details on to it.
This is still only about 75% "finished", but it does serve as a nice glimpse at the type of stuff I'd like to be able to create more of in the future.

The Gang
