Hey folks, I have a quick favor to ask for my own purposes. We have no way of gauging downloads from Patreon. I wish they gave us that tool, but alas. Instead, I want to get a pulse check on premium shows so I know what to promote and how.
So here's the ask, and it will only take ...

I forgot to post a schedule last month, so here's one for October! There's also a small announcement.
Patreon recently offered a new kind of billing called "Subscription Billing". This means new patrons will be billed right when they subscribe, and then on subsequent months their billing date will be the same date they subscribed. So, say you pledge on the 10th, you will be billed on...

You had to be around in the early '00s to know exactly how hard Razor scooters were being pushed on us. These were collapsable metal scooters meant for radical teens to ride to class. And they made a game about them, a not entirely terrible Tony Hawk clone. So we spend some time talking about the gimmick shoes that were foisted on us as kids.

With all of the Scarlet Rot in Caelid, it's easy to overlook the other forces at play in the region. Namely, the Black Flame, Deathroot, and other forces associated with the Destined Death. In this cleanup episode, we head to the Bestial Sanctum to learn about Gurranq the Bestial Clergyman, and then we head to the Divine Tower of Caelid where we find the Godskin cult tucked away in the basement.
Next week we head to Redmane Castle to begin working to handle Starscourge Radahn himself.

We've narrowed down some of our distaste for certain popular games, especially from the past: they were made for kids. And kids' media can be sublime! But what makes a piece of kids' media, game or not, good or bad? What turns us off? How do they approach issues of ethics or morality? How much do they condescend?
We also answer your questions and read your responses to September's games: BugSnax, Metal Gear Solid V, and Carrion.
October's games are:

No one in the world needs to be told that the Texas Chainsaw Massacre is an important movie, but sometimes you need to be reminded that it's a good movie. A van full of teens is on a roadtrip into the vast empty stretches of Texas, and they find themselves wrapped up in the murderous affairs of a family of cannibals... and their mute hatchetman Leatherface. And you'll never guess what weapon he uses.
It was a great deal of fun to look back at an undeniable classic and find that...

Everything To Guppy is a weekly comedy/gaming podcast that releases four 15-minute episodes in a single hour-long chunk every Tuesday for reasons that seemed good at the time. Gary Butterfield (Watch Out For Fireballs) and William Hughes (The A.V. Club) attempt to analyze every single item, boss, character, and concept in the rogue-lite video game The Binding Of Isaac. They manage to pull it off only slightly less than 50 percent of the time.

People love incremental and idle games. Kole's ambivalent. Gary hates them. Somehow this turned into an extremely on-topic mini-WOFF! about the genre at large, with Cookie Clicker as the starting off point. Welcome to Hell!

This week we pick up on the road above Sellia, to the cliffs above to save the poor girl Millicent at the behest of the strange sage Gowry. Then, we proceed northward beyond the giant skull to Greyoll's Dragonbarrow, a slightly less-blighted portion of Caelid, which is now a sanctuary for the remann...

Welcome to the introduction! In this episode we take an opportunity to introduce ourselves, the show, and how we plan to approach Breaking Bad with our commentary. We also describe our own histories with the show, and give a rundown of how Breaking Bad got picked up, along with an introduction to the main cast. It's an eventful episode, to be sure.
New episodes release every other Saturday, so we will be back next time with the Pilot.

When a baby is on a girder, you KNOW Gary Butterfield is on the scene. This unreleased prototype of a Lemmings-like game where you play as an angel stopping a baby from crawling into calamity is actually not terrible, just bizarre. Also bizarre? The movie "Baby's Day Out" was popular enough in India to warrant three different adaptations in different languages... including one named, and we're not kidding 2022-09-23 20:13:55 +0000 UTC

How far can an excellent premise carry a game? Looks like it's more than 2 hours but less than 5. Carrion has an unbeatable premise, a hall of fame premise, and aesthetics to back it up. Why on earth is it not more fun to play? Listen and find out!

Say what you will about stop motion animation, there's an undeniable degree of difficulty associated with it that makes it a little more impressive than CGI emulating the clay sculpture style. This is the core hubris of the "Wallace and Gromit " people hooking up with Dreamworks to make "Flushed Away", a story about a posh surface rat getting flushed down the toilet to fight a frog king. And then they made a game about it. And then we mostly talked about Jackass, and a bizarre YouTube channel...

Sellia is a town in Caelid that holds many secrets, sealed away behind an impenetrable puzzle that involves lighting three torches. A strange sage named Gowry acts as our guide, sending us to the Aeonian Swamp to recover a cosmic artifact before directing us to the heart of Selia to learn where these people came from, and why the Golden Order had turned a vicious eye toward them in the past.

Hey folks! It's time for you to help us pick the nominal topics of October's premium Abject Suffering episodes. As always, we have four options, and the top two vote-getters will get episodes. Click the links below to see gameplay videos if you want your memory jogged, and cast your vote by Friday, September 23.
On this episode, we cover: Power Pack #28, X-Factor #11, Uncanny X-Men #212, Daredevil #238. And boy, that Daredevil issue. Dubya Tee Eff.
Reminder that you can read along with and ahead of the show by subscribing to Marvel Unlimited (we don't get paid for you doing that, so it's not an ad, it's just a cool service). Venom Snake still has some fights to fight, as we pick up Skull Face's trail in Afghanistan to experience the majority of what the Phantom Pain has to offer. As a genuine heads up, this episode might not be for you if you adore this game or Hideo Kojima's whole vibe. We clown on things while gushing about the play, which some people take us as completely hating the whole experience. If you will take that personally then please consider yourself forewarned.

Take comfort. You do not know about "Game Over", and you will not have to know about "Game Over" at all after this episode is over. There is no hidden gem here. Instead, it's one of the lowest things we've covered on this show, a UPN CGI sitcom about the lives of video game characters when they're off the clock. Do not be fooled by that premise, which sounds like it has possibility. This i...

Better late than never, right? Even if it's 21 years too late. 1986 saw the release of "An American Tail", a Don Bluth-animated film about a family of mice that fled Russia to head to America... 1986 being, of course, one of the last times that an optimistic story about immigration could be told in America. Then, in 2007, some weirdos decided to make a licensed game about it. One that even manages to make Monkey Ball mechanics un-fun!

This week we continue our journey along the Caelid Highway, down further into the wilds of the rot-blighted land. Starting at the Smouldering Wall, we venture into Fort Gael and the prison complex beneath it, before reaching the swamps and dragons of the southern reaches.
Next week we will turn northward into Selia and the Aeonian Swamp, ground zero of Malenia's blossoming.

What do you do when there's a Kojima about? What do you do when a game has some of the best stealth action in video games, one of the most satisfying loops in video games, but punctuates it with some of the worst boss fights and clumsy exposition and plotting? It's a complicated game that gives us complicated feelings! Listen in if you want to hear us wrestle with Kojima's legacy, both as critics and as one current and one former fan.
