ORB 93: The Saphrax Protocol

Here we are at the end of the series, what was regrettably the finale before the movie was announced. It's time for the Monarch to ascend to a Level Ten villain status, and the Guild puts on a big show about Saphrax and Altheaus, the original villain and henchman, to commemorate it. It's... incongruous. Meanwhile, Dean shares sweet moments with a comatose Hank, while Hank ventures through a psychedelic mindscape, and Brock slaughters tens of henchmen for the first time in a long time.

Everything to Guppy 867: The Eternal D6 - Caged Bird - Larynx - Azazel's Stump

Everything To Guppy is a weekly comedy/gaming podcast that releases four 15-minute episodes in a single hour-long chunk every Tuesday for reasons that seemed good at the time. Gary Butterfield (Watch Out For Fireballs) and William Hughes (The A.V. Club) attempt to analyze every single item, boss, character, and concept in the rogue-lite video game The Binding Of Isaac. They manage to pull it off only slightly less than 50 percent of the time.

Abject Suffering 465: The Adventures of Gilligan's Island

Gilligan's Island is a hell named after its devil. The incompetent first mate of the S.S. Minnow bumbles about with an efficiency that cannot be accidental, ensuring that the island's flawed inhabitants will never again see another shore. Gilligan's Island is also a corny 60s television show which, for some reason, got an NES game made of it in 1990. It contains multitudes.

Bonfireside Chat 221: Academy of Raya Lucaria (Part 2)

This week we conclude talking about the Academy of Raya Lucaria by storming the quad, and then the library, where Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon, has been locked up. We spend the majority of the episode talking about the encounter with Rennala, as an aesthetic triumph and as a truly tragic and horrifying tale.

Hey folks! I know I just did this less than a month ago, but I'm looking for more volunteers to help test the per-show feeds. Another backend change was made and I want to see if the per-show premium feed for Bonfireside Chat, specifically, will work for people who had problems with it before.

If you want to give subscribing to the per-show feed for Bonfireside Chat another shot, now might be the time. Extensive ...

Watch Out for Fireballs! 365: Final Fantasy XII (Part 1)

The land of Ivalice is a land in constant turmoil, and with Final Fantasy XII we find ourselves caught in the midst of a larger struggle that is obliterating the borderlands between two massive empires. This is how the stage is set for the twelfth entry in the Final Fantasy series, the first mainline entry of the series to get really weird with it.

This episode concerns itself primarily with the game's many new mechanics, and a general discussion of how they hang together. We then talk ...

Exquisite Suffering 146: Iggy's Reckin' Balls

The world was clamoring for two things: a remake of Uniracers, and a mascot for Iguana Entertainment. And with Iggy's Reckin' Balls, it got both! This 2.5D racer supposes an abstract world made of racetracks and towers where spherical nonsense monsters vie to win races. And because it was N64 exclusive, you bet there are people who go to bat for it.

ORB 92: The Forecast Manufacturer

A strange blizzard has overtaken New York, and the OSI and the Guild must partner up to stop the culprits: The Peril Partnership. Rusty and Billy head to the skies to stop the weather machine, while 21 and the Monarch head to the leader's compound. Meanwhile, Hank ventures out into the snow to find Sirena, who isn't responding to his texts... but he'll end up wishing he'd left that stone unturned.

Abject Suffering 464: Galerians: Ash

Galerians for the PlayStation is a flawed but interesting survival horror game, existing today primarily for people who are passionate about that era of the genre. Galerians: Ash is beloved by none. Picking up right at the end of the original game, Ash follows the continuing adventures of Rion through the world of Basically Akira, trying to stop synthetic humans from destroying the world. But they made it an action game and they shouldn't have done that.

Bonfireside Chat 220: Academy of Raya Lucaria (Part 1)

The Academy thought they could sit out the Shattering by locking their doors, but they didn't take into account that their own inner rottenness would destroy them from within. We venture into the high halls of this monument to arrogance, venturing through the Church of the Cuckoo and the glintstone quarry before taking on the Red Wolf of Radagon. Next week, we will find Rennala herself and see what she's been up to in her imprisonment.

Unfilmable 41: Ready or Not

Weddings are stressful enough without your spouse's terrible family immediately trying to kill you. That's the situation that Grace finds herself in when she marries into the obscenely rich Le Domas family, who made their fortune in publishing board games. Whenever someone marries in, the family has a ritual where they draw a card and play whatever game is on it. Unfortunately for Grace, she winds up drawing "Hide and Seek", which is the one card whose consequences involve death.

Exquisite Suffering 145: TaleSpin

The Disney Afternoon cartoons delighted a whole generation. Every one except for TaleSpin, which was clearly the weakest link. It was in the unenviable position of having to go up against DuckTales and Darkwing Duck, so it never stood a chance. But it was popular enough to get a video game adaptation. A kinda good one, made by Capcom. We're not talking about that one. Instead, we're talking about the execrable Sega version, exemplified by its Game Gear port.

ORB 91: The Terminus Mandate

Jeremy returns to cover for Gary while he recovers from Covid, and we talk about this fun, Guild-focused episode where the Council takes on their final arches. It's a series of vignettes as they settle their old grudges, and Dr. Mrs. the Monarch's final arch happens to be Novia, a black widow who Rusty happens to be (foolishly) courting.

Adaptation Decay 64: Deus Ex: Human Revolution, The Comic

Did you know that DC published a comic to promote the release of Deus Ex: Human Revolution? Of course you didn't! The six issue arc follows Adam Jensen on a little side mission that takes place in between chapters of the game. A new augmented terrorist is on the scene, and the series of attacks has something to do with his past on the Detroit SWAT team. So he enlists the help of basically Lara Croft? It's weird, kinda bad, and tonally all over the place. So, perfect for this show.
