Everything to Guppy 814: It Hurts

Everything To Guppy is a bite-sized, four-times weekly comedy/gaming podcast in which Gary Butterfield (Watch Out For Fireballs) and William Hughes (The A.V. Club) attempt to analyze every single item, boss, character, and concept in the rogue-lite video game The Binding Of Isaac. They manage to pull it off only slightly less than 50 percent of the time.

DOFC 303-307

It's the end! Well sort of. We have some issues to cover dealing with the fallout and consequences after the events of AvX, but the Big Thing happened in this episode and I just want to say: Cyclops Was Right. I might bug Kole into making that a shirt, BECAUSE HE WAS RIGHT. I get so mad in this episode, just wait.

WOFF: Warhammer Dark Omen

Thanks Abe!

Is it metal? It's metal. It's undeniably badass in a way that is extremely appealing to our skeleton loving souls. The game itself is a pretty frustrating and dated RTS but our eyes are open to the coolness of the Warhammer world.

Watch Out for Fireballs! 345: Professor Layton and the Curious Village

This game reminds me of a puzzle. About 120 of them, to be exact. You could be forgiven for thinking that Professor Layton existed before his debut game on the Nintendo DS. The whole series has such a strong aesthetic and vibe that it feels like a European cartoon that you just never heard about.

But no, this was created whole cloth as a way to adapt a series of Japanese brain teaser books into video game form. While the story beats are ludicrous, and not all of the puzzles work, it's ...

Exquisite Suffering 134: The Fifth Element

It's a kind of movie they don't make any more, and it's also a pretty good case against that kind of movie. It's just a shame that Chris Tucker will never be able to escape this role... although it's kind of the role he was born to play.

ORB 68: O.S.I. Love You

If we had to name the fifth season's primary sins, they would be unnecessary closure and walking back changes to the status quo. We were pretty satisfied with how things left off with Molotov... but they had to bring her back just to make things weird again. The episode has some high flying action charms, but man, it's a bummer when they walk back good decisions.

ORB 67: Spanakopita!

Spanakopita! It's a pie, it's a catch-phrase, it's a fake festival, it's the name of a very good episode of the Venture Bros. Rusty's life has been a never ending parade of tragedy, so his friends are understandably unnerved when they see him acting happy at the Greek festival of Spanakopita. But as Billy Quizboy faces off against his archrival Augustus St. Cloud's attempts to buy off the festival games, Sergeant Hatred gets to the bottom of why everything here seems a little weird.

Unfilmable 35: The Cabin in the Woods

The Cabin in the Woods is a pretty important movie, and it's hard to talk about why without spoiling the best part. So this description will need to hem and haw around it. Some teens are headed to a remote cabin for a party weekend, but they don't know that they're walking right into an elaborate scenario coordinated by a shady organization. While the dialogue has a little bit of that Joss Whedon stink on it, we're really here for the plotting, the cool twists, and the legally-not-Cenobytes.<...
